Decks like this remind me why "The Gathering" was such an important part of the game Garfield created. Most opponents will curiously watch a jank combo go off when you're sitting across the table from them, even if they know they're about to lose, especially the first time.
@@robwagner7545 it’s one thing if someone’s going infinite or popping off with academy manufacturor but the specific problems that making a bunch of token copies of every permanent on the battlefield would be very obnoxious to play out I would think
@@lesternomo6578 sure, in paper that would be obnoxious counting out the tokens. On arena, it's automatic, which makes the scooping even more intolerable. If nothing else, there at least should be a "fishbowl" option to stay in the match after your opponent concedes and leaves.
@@robwagner7545 yeah I definitely think it’s sad to see people concede when the thing is about to happen, and agree that the communal part of magic is lost for the most part on arena
This reminds me of the time in school when I cast the Radiate spell on someone else's Desert Twister. Desert Twister = Destroy target permanent, Radiate = Copy target spell for each valid target. Destroyed ALL permanents in play.
Im really upset that these people are just scooping so quickly. If you know you've lost in an epic way, at least witness the glory that is an epic combo like MonoBlackMagic
yeah, its sad - esp when a nerd is tryharding in historic, which is the format known for people playing crazy big jank and trying to have fun most of the time. those ppl have bigger problems in their lives
This is why I don’t play it anymore. Try this at your LGS. No one would play with the person that just gets up mid combo or if they miss a land drop. Unfortunately they need a time out feature if you concede.
I understand this sentiment and agree with it in principle BUT when you make 200 tokens where half of them have etbs, the game will lock up for like 30 seconds before anything actually happens. I can understand finding that more painful than glorious.
I only forfeit when the opponent is grinding extra damage when I'm already dead, but a cool combo ? I would not want it taken from me, why would I take ot from thers ?
KappyJam was the real villain here. If somebody resolves an insane spell - Villainous Wealth or Dopplegang or something like that, you have to let it happen just to see it.
That's super easy to do if you have a Landfall deck. Gets the entirety of all your lands in your deck into play in just a few turns...using a combination of that setup with this dude's Leyline/Nykthos lands/Nyxbloom Ancient duping tactic on the next turn...it would be so EPIC to pop off using Doppelgang with ALL of your mana available lol
I am looking forward for the Dark Lord to break some new MKM cards in Arena...and here we are - he treated us with Doppelgang. He really loves multiplication! Lol
I really miss guts theme in the end of the video. I'd like to thank you so much, Chris. For your reason I get to know berserk. Even before watching the 1997 anime, the music theme you presented me was already my phone alarm. I watched, I loved it, I hated it, indeed that was one of the best pieces of art I ever seen. I loved every minute before the eclipse. That episode absolutely crushed my soul. I spent a whole week thinking about it, totally devastated. Someone, please. Is there a anime sequence? I know, I'll need to read the manga any time. Once more, thank you Chris.
You should be able to find guts theme just on youtube... he got hit with a copyright claim so he couldn't include it anymore (and addressed it in one of his videos with an apology).
I resolved a Dopplegang the other night for 14, targeting 4 color Omnath and a bunch of lands. The game really tried to resolve all 2300 triggers, but it wasn’t meant to be.
As a person who prefers staying regardless of board state I can understand that people leave because not everybody has unlimited time they can spend playing mtg. Its okay for people to concede. Never seen so many people complain about a function that saves their time.
LOL watching that Dragon deck take 4 to the face 5 times after his Doppelgang went off was SO satisfying...I love watching red decks get trounced because almost 90% of the time red usually wins due to haste and pumping monastery swiftspears using burn spells...Usually by turn 3 or 4 if defender has nothing on the board to defend it's GG. The meta for red is ridiculous right now
I came up with this a few days ago and after some tweaking its a winner. Honestly, if my opponent managed to resolve an X=15 Doppelgang with one target being a Nyxbloom Ancient and another being a land, I'd stick around just to see if Arena can handle generating 43 million mana from tapping a single land. If it can't and I stuck around, I'd get a draw instead of actually losing. Also, I wouldn't get to bitch about how I only lost because of the newfangled rules that removed mana burn.
honestly might be good the oppenent scooped at X=15. server would probably crash. especially if he tries activating nykthos with over 60 devotion and 16 nyxbloom in play.
@@Atulack yeah, not surprised. i dont think it is intended that one land taps for 40M mana, because you have 16 nyxbloom ancients in play. although it still seems like bad coding. i mean, it depends how many copies you make, but applications should be able to handle 1000 objects. its not *that* much in the realm of IT.

Hi Chris, I'm not sure why you ~stopped playing Standard. Do people react better to Historic content? I feel the format is much more rigid, much like older formats like Modern which rarely get new stuff that matters.
Dark Lord, doesnt Magic become boring after all those years? I mean those 1 game andy's are fine but i dont get it, especially in a shallow game like magic.
Can someone smarter than me tell me why moreso how nyxbloom gets played turn 2-3 I see the cards. I've literally searched through and read every card on battlefield on scryfall and don't understand interaction. Help me oni mogg shenobi you're only hope... If it's because of devotion, I'm gonna head to ER from the idiot sized hole in my foot. To be fair, it's usually at least 3am for me when these drop.....
Leyline of tthe guildpact makes all lands, and all perms colors. So, because of the presence of the extra colors on the cards the devotion is higher much quicker, thus the payoff for his land tapping for mana equal to the devotion is also much quicker. Along with the presence of the green leyline, which doubles how much mana dorks tap for, this is how he is able to produce such early Nyxbloom.
I wanted to see the spell resolve so bad. Please run this deck again and get it to resolve for over 10.
Same, i really hope he does it again

There is. In fact, it is easy to do so in turn 4.
