No one is talking about mom math. Mom math is when there are 7 cookies left, and you have 4 kids, so you eat 3 cookies to avoid your kids complaining about fairness.
I have a 27 yr old stallion, paid $5k for him as a foal. He did not make me much money but I trail rode him for years, he gave me 26 years of happiness. Thankfully I was able to inexpensively care for him as i grew up on a farm and married to a farmer. He never needed much vet and extra care. Now my 18 yr old daughter loves him, he has baby sat her for the last 10 years and I never had to worry about her. He does not allow anyone near her while out riding unless he knows them. My husband, my father in law, her best friend, he will stick his head in the truck window to say HI. A stranger cannt get 5ft from him and her, he will dance away or bite them if a stranger tries to get close. I love the old man, he protected me back in the day too. Was he worth $5k then 26 years of care? Personally he is, I don't think very many horses are truly as good as him.
The Guy Math equivalent is when Home Depot has Ryobi Days, and you justify the purchase of your third or fourth circular saw/drill combo because it’s cheaper than just buying an extra battery.
Maybe I’m strange but, as a single woman with her own home, I TOTALLY understand this one!!! I mean, why would you NOT buy the double pack of batteries? That saves you time when you’re working and, I mean, time is basically money, right??
i, as a man, recently had a girl math moment. i use the tips that i make at my 2nd job for gas money, so because it’s cash and i didn’t use my card, technically i just filled up my tank for free
I think it’s based on “happy hour”, which is why they have a fun drink every episode. Happy hour is rarely a specific tight hour. Though it would be nice if the show was a full hour though!
Not gonna lie, this is easily my favorite of the Ramsey network shows. George and Rachel are like the older siblings I never had but always wanted: cool, fun but of sound mind and give great advice. Love y’all so much keep up the good work! ❤
Easily. I feel on most these shows like I’m being talked down to. At least here the delivery is like “hey, we’re cool, but we’ll also kick you in the nards.”
I was listening to this and my 3 year old daughter is sitting next to me. Rachel said George's name, and my daughter goes "Curious George!" It caught me by surprise and it was funny so I thought I'd post it here for you all.
Lazy girl job isn't about work life balance or even only doing the bare minimum. It's more like jobs that don't require much engagement so that even when "working" you're scrolling insta or whatever social media soup du jour they're into
Tomboy math: if I buy the tool at the pawn shop, complete the project then sell it back to the pawn shop it was free even if I got back less than I spent on it so long as the money goes back into the bank
Hahahahaha. I laughed to death when Rachel went “Oh you’ll see” regarding the Melissa & Doug toys. ;) You guys are so funny. Thank you for your show! Keep up the great work!
Girl math logic is eating something from your freezer from months ago and considering it “free” because it was so long ago accounted for. I had free salmon and vegetable pasta last night for dinner 🤙🏼
This story starts at around 31:00 in the linked video. She opened the present and loved the sunglasses, but wanted to return them because she felt so badly about how expensive they were. He convinced her to keep them.
Y’all are cracking me up! Don’t even know what a circular saw is 😂😂😂 she doesn’t know what a abacus is and he doesn’t know what Melissa and Doug toys are 😂😂😂 wow love it.
I don’t have any of the restaurants apps. No Starbucks app, no CFA app, no nothing. I don’t need it easier to spend money. If it’s too easy to skip the line of students or nurses at the Starbucks at the university I work at, I’d be there all the time. But if it’s a big inconvenience, I have to think hard about if the Starbucks is worth the inconvenience.
Would love to see an episode on traveling internationally. With currency exchange rates, it can feel like you have all the money in the world but really you have just as much as you started with. Also, on a touchier subject, it's actually better to use a credit card with no foreign exchange fees when traveling abroad as they often give you a better exchange rate than you get while in country. Some really interesting discussions could come from this topic.
BS7 for 2.5 years and still pay cash for almost every in person purchase. Cash vs any plastic/app works for our home. Cash definitely has emotions that plastic doesn't.
Here’s what happened next: she said they’re too nice, I can’t keep them, I need to return them. but the guys said noo, you deserve it, you give main character energy, you should keep them. And so he convinced his wife to keep them. 🤷🏻♀️
Girl math is really cost for wear calculations. Do you buy the dress for $20 that breaks after 1 season or something that costs more but last for years?
Tool rental has been the greatest thing ever to avoid expensive tools that you might use twice a year. My husband has even rented tools to work on his car.
Excellent episode! Maybe I'll go out on my road bike today. Lol. Girl math for me is pay $10 shipping if the purchase is below say $30. 😡 If my purchase is$50, shipping is free so I just saved$10 for shipping and got more of what i"needed"in the first place. Win win! 🎉😂
Love this show!! I listen while I’m at the gym, and it’s all I can do to not LOL sometimes! Although me grinning trying not to laugh is probably also cringy to others…. Who cares! Love you guys!!
Girl math suggests that cash is no longer activating the pain center of the brain. Im sure the Ramsey team is on top of this. I'm interested to see if they adapt the cash envelop system.
I laugh at most girl math, but that part seems true of me, since my budget largely is formed from money brought into my accounts. Cash earned from things like tutoring ended up feeling almost like out of sight wrt the budget.
I wouldn't know about Melissa and Doug if I hadn't been a donation attendant. Circular saws make a loud high pitch noise. Depending on the blade they can be used to cut different things. Mostly wood. Yes they are designer and are expensive for sunglasses.. $250-450. But ... That's actually a pretty low amount for a push present ... If she doesn't think she deserves sunglasses after 10 months of growing a human.. then it's not ooo she's such a great person, it's wow she clearly doesn't know how amazing she is.. and that's probably an indicator of her friends and family

Brilliant!
😂😂😂yes!
George: I'll buy her a horse
*me thinking back to when he told the caller to sell her horse* 😂
Yes! Loved that episode!
situational advice
It’s a conspiracy!
He learned his lessons 😂😂
😅 as long as you pay cash for that pony!
George is gonna buy his daughter a horse just so he can tell her "It doesn't even know your name!" 😂
Only the real ones will get this. 😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I cackled 😂😂😂

But this is true. It just makes more sense. I just keep the tool I wanted and gift the older version to my brother.
This is my husband's math. Unfortunately it's true
Maybe I’m strange but, as a single woman with her own home, I TOTALLY understand this one!!! I mean, why would you NOT buy the double pack of batteries? That saves you time when you’re working and, I mean, time is basically money, right??
@@maelstrommel, they’re buying a second tool not the batteries
I uséd to be a big fan of Ryobi ... Used to get 50-100 recharges to a battery . Lately it's been. 20 plus/minus
i, as a man, recently had a girl math moment. i use the tips that i make at my 2nd job for gas money, so because it’s cash and i didn’t use my card, technically i just filled up my tank for free
My dude, I do this all the time whenever I get cash lol If it doesn't show up in my account statement, it doesn't exist
I do this with my side gigs that I get cash from. I buy food with it. 😊
Yes it's definitely free
My only criticism: why call this "Smart Money Happy Hour" when you cut us off after a HALF hour?! I need at least an hour of this in my morning ❤
Valid.
Hah I didn't realize it was that short. But yes, please make it 1 hour! Love this show.
That's girl math for you

Boy math….. can I afford this BIG truck, no but I’ll somehow convince myself I need it 😅
From the movie The Holiday, the correct line is "you're a leading lady". You should be the leading lady in your own life. LOVE THIS MOVIE !!!
I was listening to this and my 3 year old daughter is sitting next to me. Rachel said George's name, and my daughter goes "Curious George!" It caught me by surprise and it was funny so I thought I'd post it here for you all.
I come to The Ramsey Show for financial entertainment. I come here for social entertainment. These two are so fun to listen to.

Hahahahaha. I laughed to death when Rachel went “Oh you’ll see” regarding the Melissa & Doug toys. ;) You guys are so funny. Thank you for your show! Keep up the great work!
We need a SMHH cocktail/mocktail book with all the ingredients and yall's ratings in it. It'd be a perfect gift for some of my favorite people!
I was totally spacing on SMHH lol I was thinking Shaking My Head.....h something??? lol
Yes a book!!
And cost per drink haha
Great idea!
The guy in the background laughing is the best! This was my favorite episode to date! ❤️

Half an hour of Rachel and George using "main character energy" as a comliment. I'm dead. 😂
"It's good for people to work, but not in a toxic environment, for toxic people in a toxic place, doing something they hate." George K.

I like how this gets released in the morning. Quite a happy hour!
Wow, Rachel!
Simple grey pocket T?
Most “minimalist” I’ve ever seen you!
👍🏼
I know! I was thinking it looks so good still! I hope to one day dress nice too lol
You can dry clean at home in your dryer. I buy the woolite dry cleaning sheets and cut them in half. Works great!
Thank you for the tip! I’ll try that

The smocking is a southern thing, George. It’s classic and middle class fancy! 😁
After so many episodes, are y'all going to release a mixology book on a budget?
This is such a good idea!!!
So good!

George is about to find out about Doug and Melissa! I’ve got the sammmmee Abacus (one of those timeless math toys) lol
We use an abacus in our resale business... we don't have electricity yet. 😂

George is just incredible funny and Rachel is so perfect in these videos.
Love it!!!!!! All all the laughing and the smart talk
Love the horse reference!!!
Would buy drink glasses if they became available! A good way to spread the financial word with others.
A lot of women don't wear makeup... Perfectly fine, cheaper, and much easier to get going in the morning.
You two are are such a delight! Love your show😊
I think George is going for "pretty boy summer"!
Love the show! 🥳
Oh my gosh Rachel talking about the shoe return is speaking to my girl math SOUL 🤣
"I'll buy her a horse" 😂😂😂😂
I love how often he casually mentions horses now.
You are good people with beautiful lives. Thank you for sharing your time, personalities and money sense with us. Great show. Thank you so much!
‘Markings? What is he, a referee?’
My dude that was QUICK! 👏
5’8” and under? Nice, just made the cut. Short King Summer let’s go!
You’ve got to sell the horse, George! Lol Sell that horse! 😂😂
Congratulations girl Dad!

Rachel, you have to get his baby a Melissa and Doug abacus for Christmas now.
