FYI, Monsta X are not just on a rooftop in Seoul in their "Hero" MV. It is actually a helipad -- where a helicopter lands. (You see the big H in the middle because that is the universal symbol for a helicopter landing zone. Which coincidentally worked out well because the song is called "Hero.") So normally, a helicopter would land there and the people would either get out of the helicopter, or there would be people there waiting to get in the helicopter, etc. Often in large cities those helipads are owned by hospitals in order to be able to airlift patients in and out of the hospital in emergency situations. (However, seeing as they were able to film at this location, it is more likely that this helipad was owned by a cooperation or big company because they were able to use it without worrying about interfering with a hospital emergency, etc.) That's why it's so high in the air and why it's so far above all the other buildings in the area. That's also why there are no railings or walls around the edge because the helicopter needs an unobstructed flat surface to land on. If you look at one of the high overhead shots at the beginning during the day time shots you will see that there is a hole in the floor off to one side, which is a trap-type door and my guess is that leads to a stairway or ladder or elevator as a way to access the landing zone. The cuts between day and night shots are to show that they can be your man both day and night. The song and MV is a pretty simple concept. The Monsta X members want to be your hero. "I can be your Hero, I can be your man." They are saying, although I may not have powers like Superman or be rich like Batman, and some people may even think of me as a "villain," but for YOU (that one special person -- Monbebes -- i.e. their fans) I can be whatever you want and need me to be. So if you're looking for a hero. "I can be your Hero." That's also why you see the TV glitches like in a TV show or movie that's based on comic book characters, etc. It's part of the action "Hero" concept of the song. Can you believe that this was shortly after Monsta X's debut? So they've been pushing boundaries like this from day one. This MV might look simple, but just think of the amount of money Starship Entertainment must have spent just to film this. And they were still rookies at the time. Not only did they have to rent the location, but they had to have a plane or helicopter to film the overhead shots -- I'm pretty sure this was before drones were a commonly used device to film with.
Fun fact: As you can see from their "Hero" MV, Monsta X are often categorized as "Beast Idols" because, like 2PM, they were known for being much more masculine and several of the members were more fit than the average boy group member right from debut. You're not the only one scared of the heights in this MV. Wonho -- the one with the gold chain, who lifts his shirt in the "Hero" choreography -- is also afraid of heights and at this time he had really bad vertigo. During this shoot his legs were often wobbly and he had to work through his fear. It's amazing how you could never tell just by watching the MV. But if you watch some of their behind the scenes clips, you can hear them mention it and see him sort of fighting through it.
I discovered Monsta X back in 2017 with their TRESPASS and RUSH songs that I saved to my IPod, which was the same time I came across Seventeen and of course I only seen a few MVs at the time but saved both groups to my Kpop list years ago. It was much harder to keep up with everything during era because I was in school with handful of class and homework to do.
Definitely one of the most iconic tracks it was just so good and so well done . They were great even this early in to there careers . And they keep just getting better and better
I am a monbwabwa(?) from now 😂 Baby Monsta X! They had debuted not too long ago at this time, Hero is definitely a classic. The rooftop ver is still a mystery, there is no other version haha. This was a lot of fun, thank you!!
@@alongfortheridereactshaha for music videos just the rooftop 😅 (and Japanese but no other Korean one) There is another audio version though called the broadcasting version that is more dubstep-y, it goes hard!
Ahhh twink Wonho, back when Shownu was the biggest beefcake in town 😂 Hero is such an iconic song 🙌🙌 I hope to see more Monsta X on the channel, they deserve all the love ❤❤ Also Wonho also famously hated being in this mv 😂 he's terrified of heights!! Rumour has it he had to take medication to even be up there!
I can have this song playing in the background while doing other things but, after 3 or 4 years since I heard it first, I still have to stop what I’m doing and scream along with Jooheon. I usually only do it in my head when I’m in public. 😂
Honestly I love your Monbuwabuwa pronunciation. It is a breath of fresh air to the way some people say the worst pronunciation monbibi or monbaby. ALSO Kinda official because I have seen Monsta X cutely pronounced it Monbuwabuwa or MonBuwheBuwhe just for fun.
