I have 58 year old dry skin and I have never been able to wear anything in the Shape Tape line! It does just what you said, looks crepey. I have a really good skincare routine so any makeup that undoes the hard work in put in on my skincare is a no from me! Edit: Jenny is a doll! I subbed immediately!
Great video as always Shelly! Crepy skin is the worst and there are many foundations that I put on my 64-year-old skin that give me that effect and I can't wash them off fast enough! I hated that Maybelline mascara so much, it was relegated to the trash on the 2nd day’s in my possession! My favorites are the Tarte man eater and the Benefit They’re Real Magnet Mascara. I think I am in the minority because I like those plastic bristle brushes. I feel they separate the lashes and fan them out well! TBH Shelly, the previous handful of foundations you have put to the test looked so much better from the get go! The closeup after you applied it told the sad tale! Perhaps for those with oilier or youthful skin types! Your eye makeup is so beautifully applied! You sure wear many hats in your day! I admire your work ethic! Ziva is a sweet girl! The shade is such a good match Shelly. I hate to say this but, whenever I hear the words "shape tape", I immediately think how drying the concealer was on me. 😐 A couple of months ago I finally ventured into the new Sephora store inside Kohl's and bought some Fenty products. I've gone through the same experience with the Hydrating Longwear foundation that you did with this Tarte formula. Looked pretty good at first but quickly settled into all of my lines & wrinkles and accentuated all of the texture along my forehead. I used it both with and without primer and with different sunscreens and couldn't make it work. It also didn't get along with any of my favorite concealers where it would bunch up along the lines where the 2 products overlapped. It ended up looking very dry and cakey on my skin and after 6 weeks I gave up. ☹ Would love to see both the L'Oreal tinted moisturizer and Maybelline's 4 in 1 whipped matte makeup, I've been curious about both. 🙂 Oh, and in my line of work, the word "moist" is highly acceptable whereas "dry" is the bad word. I just ordered the Nars! Finally found my shade available (well, I hope it will be my shade! I actually went one darker than I usually get from them because Yukon was a smidge too light on me, but I'm hoping it's not too dark!) I forget the name... 4.5 I think was the number.
I just bought this at Ulta n I believe it's been re-formulated. It's very skin like. I never use much product to start. It blends well but I have a problem with the color selection. All seem to lean warm. It is not transfer proof but few products are. I give it a solid B+
What do you think about testing any of the new powder foundations, like the Elf one? Do you think us dry maturing skin gals can actually wear a powder foundation? I used to wear powder mineral foundation in my combo skin days and always found it so much easier to apply than liquid foundation. Thanks Shelly for another great review. I caught your CT review also and that one looks really beautiful.
I almost never wear powders solo and I've gotten away from even setting my foundation with powder unless absolutely necessary. Most make me look even drier than I already am. There are a few intriguing ones lately that I might try though!
I really liked this one on you. I guess it's just me being weird but I think you looked nice in it. I don't know if I would have given it an A with all it's problems; like saying it's transfer proof and then when you wear it, it's definitely not! I don't know but maybe it's just the fact that your skin has gotten to the point where it's so good that I'm not so sure you really need any foundation. I know that may be sacrilegious to say but it's a compliment. Your skin looks amazing and I wish mine looked even half as good. (Mine is mostly my fault when I'm depressed or hurting so bad, I don't feel like doing anything and end up not really using my skincare routinely as is needed to get the best results. At this point, I'm doing good if I get my skincare routine done 2 - 4 times in a month and I know that's horrible. I wish there something that I could use that was similar to my weekly pill planner that helps me to remember to take my meds both in the am and pm. If you have any tricks that help you stay on track with your skincare. Please let me know? 🙏 Thanks always for doing what you do! I think the bottom of the new elf sponge is coated so it doesn't pick up so much product and gives better coverage. I just bought one - haven't tried it yet, but I've seen others use the bottom to put on foundation with pretty good results.
Sweet Ziva. She wants to be your sidekick. The foundation looks flat. I know it's matte, but you've worn so many nicer ones. I wouldn't attempt this one myself. Shelly, you need to try some of the Shein makeup, Sheglam. One day a week, it's free shipping, and someone always has a code. Products that I think are nice: Skinfinite Hydrating Foundation The Sun Sculpt Liquid Contour (I use as bronzer), shade is Golden Sun The Color Bloom Liquid Blush in Love Cake, and finally the Metallic Glow Highlighter in Solo. Unless it's an A in your book, I am not interested. Are you going to try out the new Makeup Forever foundation? It looks to be more of a lightweight skin tint. If it's in your budget, I'd be interested in your thoughts. The only mascara I am currently using is the Lash Idole from Lancome. It has been my holy grail since I first discovered it. Length, curl, and separation. What more could a girl want? And they've just released it in a waterproof formula. Woot woot! And now you have me intrigued that there is another ND palette coming. Hi Shelley put it aside and try again in the warmer months perhaps. Although most foundations claim to be buildable, I find a light application (with pinpoint concealer) stops a lot of the migration into lines etc. You have really good skin and could get away with that type of application no problem. Obviously we all want a foundation that just works however it's applied, but this one was a great shade match and just needs a few tweaks perhaps? The dead of Winter isn't usually the best time to try a matte foundation on drier skin types - no matter how much skincare is underneath it lol. A glowier more hydrating primer may also salvage this one - worth a try maybe. For you though with the plethora of foundations you have and love more, it's probably not worth the hassle to make it work. For someone like me with just a few, it's more of a try in different ways type of thing I guess lol. Best wishes.

This is just a curious question. Do you think because it's winter and skin does become dryer more this time of year (winter season) That this foundation might work better in the summer (because of heat and humidity) ?
Very possibly! I'd have to see in higher humidity if the finish is the same (maybe that's just the finish as designed) or if the finish is impacted by low humidity right now. Sometimes it's just the way a product is meant to look (which looks better on some than others) and sometimes it's environmental.

I bought the L’Oréal serum foundation back when you reviewed it and it’s still my favorite! I tried the Huda stick foundation a few days ago and the L’Oréal one is better. The concealer from that line works for me too, but my new HG is the JOAH concealer. Have you tried it yet? I’m 43 with crapey under eyes so I’m super picky about concealers and I love it. Although… I’ve never tried the charlotte tilbury, too expensive, maybe the JOAH one can compete? 🤷🏻♀️

Very possibly! I'd have to see in higher humidity if the finish is the same (maybe that's just the finish as designed) or if the finish is impacted by low humidity right now. Sometimes it's just the way a product is meant to look (which looks better on some than others) and sometimes it's environmental.

I bought the L’Oréal serum foundation back when you reviewed it and it’s still my favorite! I tried the Huda stick foundation a few days ago and the L’Oréal one is better. The concealer from that line works for me too, but my new HG is the JOAH concealer. Have you tried it yet? I’m 43 with crapey under eyes so I’m super picky about concealers and I love it. Although… I’ve never tried the charlotte tilbury, too expensive, maybe the JOAH one can compete? 🤷🏻♀️
I need to grab the JOAH concealer! I have their last foundation product but not the concealer (and I've been impressed with them so far!)

I ache for my cats do be that affectionate. I get about 5 seconds of holding, before they push away. I have a female Bombay-renowned as very affectionate cats, but not mine. She is great as hissing when she is fed something she doesn't want, but not affection. Please, Shelley, enjoy. You will miss that love and affection one day, as I do from my cats that have walked the rainbow bridge.
