What Linus forgot/didnt know/didnt want to say was nice hash paid back the same amount of btc at the value of 3k per coin (cause thats what it was when nicehash paid out), when at the time the hack happened it was at 9K. So people did lose money.
True.. but then again what kind of a noob keeps what they mined on nicehash? why wouldn't you pull it out on your own private wallet? nicehash is ass anyway but just saying. Also You didnt lose if you didnt sell
yes and no, they only lost money if they sold under 9k. Receiving the same amount of BTC at a different price does not automatically mean you lose money, you have to sell at a lower price to actually lose money (realize the loss). If you hodl and sell at a higher price you win money, yay! ;)
It's preferable that they paid them in Bitcoin, not USD. What NiceHash originally lost was bitcoin, and they don't have control over the price. If they held their bitcoin till now they made a profit from 9K per bitcoin to 61K per bitcoin, if they sold low then that's unfortunate.
I'm surprised nicehash meets your sponsor standards, some of the people involved are convicted felons and they've been behaving in some very shady ways with some mining application developers. I think a more neutral piece looking at some mining application choices and more reputable pools would have been better.

So over $1000 a year with a $300 Gpu you probably bought 3 years ago? A fan that only needs to be at 40-60% depending on the AIB? Realistically 10-15 cents per KWh, so maybe 2-3% of the money you'll make? With the ability to use any wallet of your choosing? Yeah, I'd rather mine.

If you're literally losing $5 a day your energy costs would need to be nearly .70c per KWH (and thats assuming you make absolutely zero money from mining which obviously wouldn't be the case) assuming you were using a gpu that consumes 300w (most use less when mining). True.. but then again what kind of a noob keeps what they mined on nicehash? why wouldn't you pull it out on your own private wallet? nicehash is ass anyway but just saying. Also You didnt lose if you didnt sell
by that logic, if people held that btc till date they are F'in rich now.
yes and no, they only lost money if they sold under 9k.
If they held their bitcoin till now they made a profit from 9K per bitcoin to 61K per bitcoin, if they sold low then that's unfortunate.

it's really not, everyone was talking about bitcoin in 2017, but if you bought only one, you could've been $55k richer by today. That "if everyone is talking about it it's already too late" saying is dumb
The takeaway from this Video is the comments warning me that they are scammers. Thanks for that.

Been using this since the video came out. No one will probably ever see this but the algos I ran gave me malware. I have to manually remove it. It kept rebooting my pc throughout the day but more like power loss. It also caused a windows error that is caused by corrupt registry entries, bad app code, and program malfunction. Restoro found NiceHash and the algorithms to be the culprit. It caused windows updates to fail and blizzard updates along with game crashes constantly.
fuckk tha nk god i left my 1080 alone
You don't say...This is why you research before doing any of this. Just because random YT man says it's ok doesn't mean it is.
Tons of videos were out LONG AGO about how NiceHash is beyond sketchy and most likely not something you want on your PC. The founders distributed some of the craziest malware back in the day and had one of the LARGEST botnets. I would probably just scrap the entire PC at this point tbh that would be the safest route.
@@CrustedPork I've used it and it hasn't done a thing to my computer. Honestly the op probably had more going on then just nicehash being installed.
@wrtugfdgsd Only problems you'll have with nicehash is if you fuck up an overclock. But that's not nicehashs fault. It's also a real shame that bitcoin is worth like nothing right now because of covid though. Just not worth using nicehash atm. 30 cents a day on a 3060 ti lhr is just sad.

Lmao I use my 1060 6gb to mine while I play games on PS Now for PC to stream psn games to my pc and while watching youtube or when I sleep then I turn the miner off when I feel like playing pc games, just remember to reset your pc once in a while and use software like EVGA Precision to keep your GPU fans at a decent speed and reduce the max power consumption so it keeps the GPU under 70C° otherwise the performance will be worse and could put unnecessary stress on your computer
That Argentina statistic is so deceptive. www.bbc.com/news/technology-56012952 Look at that! The clear issue there is the U.S. and China, not bitcoin.

I got an RTX 3080 for MSRP. It'll be here Tuesday. It took me a week, well 5 days of setting up proper auto notifies and tools to watch for me. 5 days isn't too much to ask I don't think considering the environment.
._.
So I can make 3-4 bucks a day?
I have a constant fan running.
I wear down my precious GPU.
I pay close to 1 buck for juice.
I use a service thats been previously hacked.
All for some bits of data which might loose significant value over night.
Yeah I´d rather help the environment. Hard pass.
This guy gets it!
Well your gpu won't be wear down.
It uses maybe 50-55% of my RTX 3080 with around 200-210 watts of power. The GPU heats up to around 50 degrees celsius. After 3 weeks of mining I've obtained around €130 worth of dogecoin. Honestly, with this kind of cost my GPU can probably last 5 years easily for non-stop mining before wearing down, though it may need a little maintenance every now and then.
I've been mining for a month and made $250. But I guess the less people mine the better rates I get so you do you I guess.
Started mining on my gaming rig (3060ti) the day this video came out. I'm back with my results 4 weeks later. Earned $160 using NiceHash Quick Miner and just mining when not gaming. Looked at my power bill, was $20 more than last month, and $15 more vs March 2020.

what the hell, why would you promote this, I feel a lot of your audience is too young to realize the associated dangers not to mention the fact your not keeping the bitcoin you mine or paying a cut to the nicehash, but instead being paid by contractors working with nicehash to use your gpu for their mining
