I'm very happy to report that Raijintek has listened and the divider that runs down the middle of the Ophion Evo has been updated. It now has cutouts and the top bar can be removed completely making installation of a top mounted AIO much easier and no more hose clearance issues. I was planning on using a dremel to cut some of the middle divider out. Now, I don't have to. 👍👍👍 Also just checked and I believe by drilling my own mounting holes I can fit a 280 AIO at the top like I did in my Cougar QBX (on the side mounting bracket). So my modding list is down to drilling my own 280 AIO mounts and a plexiglass side panel with holes for airflow, for at least the GPU side (maybe both). Not sure how thick of a GPU it will support yet, but something with a thick heat sink might pose an Issue.
I'm also thinking about buying the Ophion Evo and would be interested to hear about your results. Did you manage to mount the 280 AIO? What Temps/Noise are you getting? Also, if you would not mind, could you measure the exact maximum height of the bottom fan slot? I can't find any specs for this on the web. Thank you!
@@lschmelzeisen Unfortunately my Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX motherboard had the two screws fot the M.2 heat sink where on so tight I coud barly remove one and the other stripped. So I have to send it back and wait for a replacement. I drilled the holes for the 280 AIO and test fitted it, fits just fine. I don't foresee any issues. But will report back once it actually assembled. Should be next week. Also not sure of the measurement of the bottom fan slot, but I fitted a 140mm fan down there. Someone else reported fitting a 140mm fan on a completed build, so that should be ok. I just drilled on whole and used the existing grill holes for the other. Only used two screws as otherwise I'd have to drill the space between two grills holes which would be a pain, I think. Two screws got the job done perfectly fine. I have a nearly identical build in a Cougar QBX case (9900K, ASRock Z390 ITX, EVGA CLC 280). That one has good silicon it can hit 5.0GHz all core with no power limits at 1.25V. That much power in a such a small case isn't going to be "quite" under load, but not annoyingly loud either. It's Less loud than my old 6700k at 4.7GHz on a Corsair H115i AIO. Temp on the QBX can hit the 80 in gaming and high 80s maybe even 90 during benchmarks. I'm in a very warm environment and a warm upstairs room. Most people would have better results. Depending on the silicon lottery my Raijintek build could deliver similar results. If the chip requires more voltage I might have to turn down the overclock a bit or restrict the power limit somewhat. We will soon find out. The QBX does support more fans so we'll see how the Ophion Evo holds up. I am thinking about adding 3 small 40mm Noctua fans to the bottom of the Raijintek case on the GPU side to aid with flow/intake.
Lukas Schmelzeisen just finished my build. This is my new favorite case for a SFF build. After drilling my own mounting holes, fitting a 280 AIO was really easy, as was installing a 140mm fan at the bottom. In Cinebench My 9900K did: All core 5.0GHz at 1.25V with this in the high 60s low 70s. All core 5.1 at 1.28V with temps in the low to high 70s All core 5.2 GHz at 1.33V with temps in the high 70s to mid 80s. At 5.2 the fans really kicked in and is was Louder them the previous overclocks. Again your not going to get super quite putting high end components in an small ITX case. It was a cool might, so in a few days my unusually warm ambient temps will likely add 5 to 7 degrees to that. Also this is my third 9900K build each processor has outperformed the previous one. Either Intel's process has improved or I've been very lucky with my silicon. I'll have to wait for later in the week to really test and see about GPU performance. So far I'm very pleased
Lukas Schmelzeisen I took a couple of pictures during the build process, all have to get some more pics this week with it finished. Right now it's running with my old GTX 1080, but I also want to test it with my Asus STRIX 2080 Ti and see how it fits and runs. It's a good bit thicker due to its beefier heatsink so it might be to close or block the side panel. We'll see.
You can get an ATX to SFX adapter and use an SFX psu instead. Between that, and the open space behind the GPU area, I see a SFF custom loop happening with a cpu and gpu. The only part that sucks is there is no hole in the top of the case, as this would be a classic use case of "using the radiator as a res" sort of situration, although you may actually be able to squeeze a DDC/150mm res combo into that space.
Glass side panels dont really work in these small cases considering all the cramped wiring and hoses. They should have released it with the aluminum side panels instead and left the glass as an optional add-on.
They will at least be releasing aluminium side panels though, so that will be an option... and hopefully not an expensive one. May even be included, or as an alternative option (i.e buy the case with either). Case isn't even out yet so we shall see.
You actually can put a 240mm aio in the smaller Ophion case. I have accomplished this by simply using slim design fans for the radiator instead. It JUST fits, & the slim fans I am using also have rgb fan blades from Silverstone. They are the only rgb slim design fans on the market rn. Now, Ik what you guys are thinking. Slim fans. That would just equal to less cooling... Well, not really true. As a matter of fact, I've not only tested it for myself, but they actually do very well for an aio in this particular case. I'll explain why... The fans are called Silverstone FW125-ARGB, & yes, they do work with rgb software & can be synched. They have a max fan speed of 2000RPM & while they are not static pressure, they are on the other hand a half & half of static pressure & airflow. This aspect is actually suitable to the Raijintek Ophion & the reason why is because one, you need some static pressure to push air through the radiator obviously, which it does well btw, but also, since this is such a small case with not much room inside, the amount of space per volume within the case is small enough that the half airflow aspect of the fans will be sufficient enough to pull air through & out the case through the radiator as an exhaust.... Get what I am saying? ? If you used these fans as a main for a big atx case, then these fans may not be all that great for moving air around in such a spacious environment where the distance from one end of the case is far from the other. Also, I have personally tested the difference in temps between two standard fans at the top with no aio vs a 240mm aio (NZXT Kraken x53) with two slim fans, & believe it or not, I got about 14 degree temp deduction using the aio (Mileage may very depending on setup). So, if you can. Just put a 240mm aio in there, remove the stock fans & replace them with the Silverstone FW124-ARGB fans instead. It will make a good difference. Just my experienced advice using this case to you guys for modding this case for improved performance. Bonus Tip: If you are using an air cooler/box cooler instead, then let me give you a cool helpful tip. This case was not design to fit a high profile air cooler/box cooler in it,... buuuuuuuuut I found a way to cheat that stated claim. Before I figured out that way to put a 240mm AIO in this case, I was using a box cooler, & the thing was, I was putting an R9 3900x into this case, & keeping low temps for that cpu is vital. I didn't WANT to use a low profile box cooler, because they simply just don't provide very great cooling, so I actually discovered a way to fit my Wraith Prism Cooler that came with my 3900x cpu into this case WITHOUT looking stupid AAAAAAND while also not needing any extra tools & still having the tempered glass on too. How did I do it. Simple. You could just let the cooler stick out the case all retarded looking, but you can also just remove the screws & rubber bushings for the glass panel on the gpu side, & double the screws & bushings ontop of the screws & bushings on the side where your cpu is. Just screw the riser screws into the riser screws on the cpu panel side, same for the bushings. As a result, you will double the extension of how far the glass panel on the cpu side will stick out, giving you more room for a taller cooler, & just have the other glass panel on the gpu side screwed in flushed 😁👍 One thing to note though, these glass panels do not have vents obviously, so your temps will counter itself, but I solved this by simply taking these glass panels to an acrylic shop & having them create exact copies of these glass panels (Same thickness & dimensions), but added honeycomb ventilation where my gpu & cpu cooler was located, because tempered glass can not be cut. So, this case is the BEST mini itx case so far that I could find, iiiiiiiiif you are willing to modify the case a bit & add a little extra money into it. Even better than the Ncase M1, because you have great cooling aaaand great aesthetics. The Ncase M1 blocks off a lot of stuff from being seen as well, while the Ophion shows off everything.
I just picked up the Raijintek Ophion Mini. I was able to fit an 120mm AIO and a full size ATX PSU in there without any modding. My temps are fairly good. When the ambient temp is 20C the max temp of my CPU was at 68C. It was a hard fought battle to put everything in there, but it was worth it.
Damn, they look amazing ! I think modders will quickly figure out that a small cut in the separator will make AIO installation much easier (I can see GPU watercooling compatibility too with similar modifications), also drilling holes in the inner-front panel would easily offer 3.5'' mounting. In addition, I'd say that you can make space in the regular Ophion for a 120 radiator on top of an SFX PSU, using the same trick to cut the separator
I realize that I'm late to the party here, but I just received my M1 this week. Couldn't be happier. Even having seen all the videos, it's still stunning how small and light it is. I was waiting for cases on the regular market to catch up and be as well designed for a SFF work-/gamestation. Didn't know about these, but they certainly look like solid contenders, finally. Still, I won't be returning the M1...
I have a ncase m1 sitting at the post office but now im thinking that ophion non evo could definately fit a 240 rad at the top with fans on the outside. Almost as small as the m1, cheaper, and more cooling potential. A custom loop would look badass in that thing!!
I wouldn't say more cooling potential, but still a good option. I have the ncase m1 and I currently have a full res/pump, standard cpu and gpu blocks, a 240mm rad and a 92mm rad installed (and an external 480mm rad but that doesnt count). If I didnt want to have the glass side panel, alternatively could have a 240 in the bottom, a 240 on the side and use a pump/cpu block combo and if I wanted a res there are some you can mount on the 92mm fan mount on the rear. All that said, the ncase follows the standard case layout style, if you want to show off your gpu or mobo then the raijintek is a great option
This is pretty much my dream sffpc that i've been looking for sans few things. I wish they had 3.5hdd support naturally but it should be super easy to mod it. They only other thing I wish that they had is the bottom intake 120mm fan slot could house a slim radiator. that way you can have 240mm aio for cpu and 120mm hybrid gpu. That would make the very high end components near silent with the new noctua fans.
I think you were misinformed. According to their website and installation guide they support at least 1 3.5" HDD and 1 2.5" HDD for the Ophion. Other than that, great video. Really hope the perforated aluminum panels come with the case and not as an add on.
Love Raijintek cases recently. Metis and Styx super cheap, moddable. Thetis 28 liter ATX. Coeus semi-open, like halfway Paean or TT P-series. None are perfect but always interesting. Same for Ophion: fair criticism and nitpicks, but looking at the current market still very welcome.
The 240mm would go in front of perforated (no glass) sidepanel, correct? Anyway, I totally agree. I like MOBO/GPU sandwich design, but Metis 3 would have been a close second. Don't like the off-set glass either, only on open cases like Coeus or 570x or view 71.
I can see it now, yeah that would be epic. I saw a pic on overclock net forum of a custom loop with a 240mm and 120mm rad, so I guess it's possible? Google "metis 240mm radiator". Not the cleanest build ever but snug as a bug.
Gotcha, no front i/o and power button. No joke it's an inch, maybe less if I/O could move to 1cm closer to the front panel, could require a smaller PCB. Damn it's soooo close for custom 240mm loopiness. And flip the mobo like your build, make it au naturel. I really hope they come back to this case and do the evolution.
I think the Tempered glass sidepanels are absolutely beuatiful and the fact that they are on both sides AND doesnt effect the temperatures very much is just insane....and especially the non evo is very small too and in white it looks so stunning! in the evo you can even cool a 3950x which is ridicolously cool (little play on words xD). And when it comes to price...the Ophion clearly beats the dan a4 with its ridicolous 250 bucks even though it has not a singe piece of tempered glass in it! clearly the Ophion in white with glass sidepanels is the Winner here!
These are very neat cases. However in my opinion all Raijintek cases have one major flaw and that is right-side motherboard orientation. It may not be such a problem for big towers, but these compact mini-ITX marvels are supposed to be placed on the table, mainly to the right from the monitor (it’s obvious because the majority of users are right-handed), thus logically making visible not the motherboard and all the bells and whistles in all its glory, but the left side with the messy cables.
i like these cases, i have a modified metis myself with a fairly tight build inside, N68-ucc, Phenom 1055t, arctic freezer 13, 16gb corsair vengeance, 8gb MSI R9270X with an arctic accelero, 3x 120mm fans. build order is CRITICAL but it all fits nicely and runs well without overheating
Thanks for your review, really well made stuff! Sound, video, content. Thumbs up! I did check a lot of your reviews and also of available mini-ITX cases in general. You often recommend the NCASE M1, however, the design is unfortunately a bit tasteless, IMHO. The DAN A4 is nice, hard to get currently, but quite expensive just to save some litres of volume. I think the SFF trend is a bit weird... I see beauty in getting these old mid towers smaller, with a nice design, aluminium material and get rid of useless drive slots, which destroy the look, but if the case has 20 or 16 liters... not sure if this is the most important point for getting a gaming PC with design. Different story for media-center PC in living rooms... My current build is using an JONSBO UMX1. I was able to get a 120mm AIO in and there is no room left - but: It is not fun to build, neither temperature is acceptable at all for GPU and SSD. This case is not made for a gaming PC... I am currently switching to the Ophion EVO. My main concern is the 2-slot offering for the GPU. GPUs are going to take 2,5 or even 3 more and more. And I would love to see a RISER cable test on your reviews. These cables are the downside of mini-ITX designs. They cause problems, sometimes, especially cheap ones and extra costs. If you need to buy an extra riser cable, the EVO is not that cheap anymore. You often ask for 3.5" drive support... for me 3.5" isn't the right choice for mini-ITX in regards to size and noise levels. If I build a mini-ITX, I take a .M2 SSD and if need be, a second SATA SSD and if I need much more space, a NAS, external drive or cloud storage. However, Raijintek's internet page cleary shows that the Ophion Evo supports ONE 3.5" drive instead of the bottom fan. The market is stil dominated by ATX power supplies with better ratings for less money. So, if you do have an ATX size power supply, you are happy to get this into a Ophion Evo. If you use a Ryzen 5 3600, a 120mm AIO is sufficient and you can put a standard ventilator above the ATX supply. If you need the space for 240AIO, there are many adapters for SFX. So, it's possible. Luckily they don't ship a power supply like NZXT on their H1 or InWin on their A1 plus.
it's the same thing with mid towers. You can get a $50 case, but it will be flimsy and thin. If you get an NZXT or Lian Li, the build quality is significantly different. So then, the only thing that keeps mini ITX cases from coming down to say $150, is the lack of popularity. You'll see. In a couple of years demand will go up, and prices are likely to drop a little.
I would love to see some more builds with the deepcool castle as it would look amazing in a back and silver build or even a white with black accents. Also love the video as I'm looking for a media / small nas pc case that looks clean and modern
Louqe Ghost S1 and Dan C4 both are sandwich with 240mm support (or 2x 240mm support in the Louqe with 2 large top hats) although they are significantly more expensive or still in development.
OMG I have been looking forward to this for months! Although I am disappointed to see how large they are compared to the DAN A4 case and the length of the front IO cables is totally unacceptable.
I almost bought the M1 yesterday, but with the price of shipping and time to get here I didn't go through with it. I have been eye-balling this case and a couple others, but this has been listed as almost $200. I just purchased this from Newegg.com for 129.90! I will be using an EVGA 650 GM power supply, with either my ROG or MSI motherboard with a i7-7700 3.6ghz 65tdp cpu. One thing I am contemplating is getting a much longer pci riser cable and "braiding" it and snaking it around inside the case instead of behind the motherboard where my M.2 is located. I also see a good use of the jigsaw on that center support to make room for an H55 water cooler - maybe, have to mock it up though first.
This case really needs some cover above PSU where the cables come form so you can hide excess cables there. It would be so easy thing to add and would make build much more pretty. Such an wasted opportunity, there's plenty of space there. Otherwise it's pretty sweet case.
Just bought the ophinion, went for the solid metal option though, since this will be a pc I through in my car and take it with me often, can't wait for it to show up. Currently using the fractal core 500 which is a great case, but a little big.
Also let's not forget to mention the Type-C port on the front. It's available on every mid-high end board since late 2016, yet most case manufacturers refuse to use it. Could you please estimate the weight of the two cases? If it's under 3kg it's definitely an instant buy for me.
Raijintek will hopefully be more easily available to buy from sellers. With the Evo having that built in clearance for a 240 radiator I would be interested for you to do a review of the ID Cooling Hunter Duet. I feel that SFF cases really get your raise your interest in case modification. I have a QBX (first video of yours I saw btw) and have gone from “maybe I could make some custom length power cables buy cutting a crimping one end of a cheap extension cable" to "XSPX TX240? Hey maybe I can get dual 240 radiators in this thing?”.
Good work from Raijintek. There is room for a lot of improvements but its a good first iteration. Just wished these could only fit sfx-L in order to put two fans on the bottom and to be a bit smaller. On the evo they should remove a little bit of space on the motherboard side to give to the gpu side, so it could have more room to breath. if we are buying the evo, we waht to use AIO, so we dont need space for "tall" top down coolers
For those who wants affordable mITX form factor with watercooling in this specs, it seems they better go for the Lian Li Q38. Build quality seems better and the size seems just like the Ophion Evo.
I've asked about perforated side panel to Raijintek. They said that both Ophion and Ophion Evo will come with TG version only. But, you can buy perforated side panel separately
@Optimum Tech According to Raijintek website you can fit a 200mm fan in the base and a 360 rad in the top of the EVO. I have a 1080ti Hybrid would it be possible to mount x1 120mm and x1 240mm rad in the top of the case? Also any plans on doing a build with an SFX PSU? I'd love to see a tidy build with braided PSU cables.

Very nice cases at a much more reasonable price. While the lack of HDD and SSD mounts is an issue, I find the orientation of components in the case to be more problematic. Making the PSU visible on the same side as the CPU makes for a very unsightly view unless you have one of those rare RGB PSU. The vertical mount for the GPU is also unpleasant and of course since both panels have TG, the airflow is worthless. I think this case will be more popular with the metal side panels. I much prefer the Thermaltake Level 20 VT design and am thinking of getting that case.Thanks for bringing in some good budget options for us to look at.

i was considering this one but didnt like the tempered glass as stock. would have rather had aluminum sides stock. i think the materials on some of these sff cases a little bit to exotic. its nice that they managed to chop the cost but i think they could have brought it down more with aluminum panels.
1:44 I want more manufactures to get in the sff case manufacturing. I like that it has usb 3.1 gen 1 Type-A and Type-C in the front. like that the gpu length 340mm. I like they are sub 200 USD vs the alternative +200 USD cases. I like that there is a cpu clearance of 86mm. What I don't like; dual glass side panels and the fact they are bigger than their competitors with less practical compatibility. I do think it is a good case, for me it doesn't compete with the semi-portable sff cases, but it competes with the home theater style itx cases like the phanteks shift/shift x or fractal define nano S.
The problem is that cases much over 8l are difficult to carry around in a backpack. Unfortunatly the only cases which can fit full length graphics cards under 8l are over £200.
they look good, but they are so big, compared to their counterparts, I have been moving all my systems to SFF, 4.7 Litter on the Skyreach and 7.2 litters on the Dan A4-SFX, but still worth considering
Its a shame as I was waiting for the Ophion, but there was no launch/availability information. Unwillingly i had to go for In-Win 301. Nice review but in my opinion: keeping the ATX PSUs is a good option. SFX power supplies are getting better but but feature rich & quality PSUs (for instance from Seasonic and EVGA) are offered in ATX still. And despite the compromise in the size is not significant.
I know i'm a year late but i'm waiting on the evo to show up here. Cant wait to custom loop cpu and gpu! I do have a 650w sfx and 1000w atx. I'm thinking of the 1000w with some custom cables because i dont believe the fan will turn on and it doesnt get ridiculously hot like the evga sfx one does.
i'll stick with my dan case a4. Downside is that custom cables is something I really recommend for the dan case a4 and water cooling still requires a fan for the m.2 ssd/mainboard components but again... the size contra its layout are very good designed. Since I need a very small case there is only one option for me. Also the designs are quite what I expect it to be for this amount of money.
Hello, great video! Thank you. I am trying to decide between either an Ophion or a Dan A4 for a build to place in the living room, next to the TV. I like the Ophion support for exhaust fans and taller cpu coolers, but I am afraid it is too large in comparison to the Dan Case. Since you have both cases, could you please do a comparison video between the two in regard to size? Been waiting so long for this! Would like to see what the noise levels are like with the side panel on and the perforated panels, if you get them. Also would it be possible to put a 120 aio down below where the 120mm fan is ??
Idk if this is something they adjusted after your review but you can put a 3.5in HDD in the standard Ophion, I have a 3tb HDD in mine right now, it gets seated in place of the front top fan.
i hope they can give option for standard ventilated metal side panel and it would be perfect. tempered glass panel look great but it doesnt help small itx case to breathe.
I hope Raijintek will create a version 2 of this pc case that is slightly more compact that will support a SFX only PSU and probably shorter in height as well. Will definitely buy that version 2 if they will create one but i highly doubt it and maybe they will just create a new pc case lineup.
Those are roomy cases to have excluded 3.5 inch drive support. If I'm going to sacrifice media storage for a smaller space, it should at least be as small as the Silverstone Raven line of cases.
Um... I know this review was done over 1.5 years ago, but the Raijintek Ophion DOES support 3.5 HDD. I just looked their website, and it shows that 1 - 3.5 HDD or 2 - 2.5 HHDs/SSDs can be mounted at the bottom of the case instead of the 120mm fan. Maybe this is a design change since it's original release, but I don't see them indicating that this is a new version.
I think you can put an ATX PSU in the regular Ophion, but it may use one of the top fans space. I would go with a 450-600W SFX PSU though, they have plenty enough power for any setup (I've seen people playing on an 7700K and GTX1080 both OC'd with a 300W HDPlex PSU)
NCase owner here - have yet to find anything better. I wish there was a case with the internals/dimensions of the NCase M1, but the externals/panels of the Phanteks Evolv TG. That would be the perfect case for me.
I wish Ncase would just make a Riser Card version. Ncase M1 needs a decent number of fans for cooling high end parts (at least two bottom fans - exhaust if going custom air route).
Being limited to 2 exhaust fans (from the AIO) and 1 intake fan (on the bottom), as well as the open vents around the side of the glass - I'm guessing it's impossible to have positive air pressure in this case? I was about to pull the trigger and buy one until I realized that, or have people found a way around the inevitable dust and cooling situation with this case?

I think you should look at the Riotoro CR1080. It's a full ATX case but is about the size of a larger itx pc case. I think it's worth a look considering your tastes. It's available on newegg
Awesome! Now the prices should get lower! One question: Does it support sfx psu? Even if I'd build an air cooled setup would be in evo, more clearence for airflow and maybe find a way to "squeeze" a 3.5" HDD.

Great review, just got the Ophion Evo to move from a Silverstone FT03. I was just wondering what could be the optimum airflow in this case... Top intake and bottom exaust? or Bottom intake and top exaust? I will be using a couple of Corsair H60 for both CPU and GPU...
Nice video and very nice cases! I didn't get if the SFX brackets (if any) come with the case? Also do tempered glass or mesh panels come with the case by default? Could end up being a bit more expensive if you need to buy both of these on the side. Is black the only color they come in, or is a Silver version also available? I'm still wondering if I should get the Ncase or one of the Ophions. Feel that one huge benefit of the Ncase are the options you have with the case plus the airflow. Still interested in knowing how the Ophions thermals are under gaming. Think I'm gonna wait for more reviews and see. But currently my finger is still on the Ncase...

awesome case shame i just build one in the RAIJINTEK Thetis this would be my favorite, now i had to rebuild a few things.

I'm very happy to report that Raijintek has listened and the divider that runs down the middle of the Ophion Evo has been updated. It now has cutouts and the top bar can be removed completely making installation of a top mounted AIO much easier and no more hose clearance issues.
I was planning on using a dremel to cut some of the middle divider out. Now, I don't have to. 👍👍👍
Also just checked and I believe by drilling my own mounting holes I can fit a 280 AIO at the top like I did in my Cougar QBX (on the side mounting bracket). So my modding list is down to drilling my own 280 AIO mounts and a plexiglass side panel with holes for airflow, for at least the GPU side (maybe both).
Not sure how thick of a GPU it will support yet, but something with a thick heat sink might pose an Issue.
I'm also thinking about buying the Ophion Evo and would be interested to hear about your results. Did you manage to mount the 280 AIO? What Temps/Noise are you getting? Also, if you would not mind, could you measure the exact maximum height of the bottom fan slot? I can't find any specs for this on the web. Thank you!
@@lschmelzeisen Unfortunately my Z390 Phantom Gaming ITX motherboard had the two screws fot the M.2 heat sink where on so tight I coud barly remove one and the other stripped. So I have to send it back and wait for a replacement.
I drilled the holes for the 280 AIO and test fitted it, fits just fine. I don't foresee any issues. But will report back once it actually assembled. Should be next week.
Also not sure of the measurement of the bottom fan slot, but I fitted a 140mm fan down there. Someone else reported fitting a 140mm fan on a completed build, so that should be ok. I just drilled on whole and used the existing grill holes for the other. Only used two screws as otherwise I'd have to drill the space between two grills holes which would be a pain, I think. Two screws got the job done perfectly fine.
I have a nearly identical build in a Cougar QBX case (9900K, ASRock Z390 ITX, EVGA CLC 280). That one has good silicon it can hit 5.0GHz all core with no power limits at 1.25V. That much power in a such a small case isn't going to be "quite" under load, but not annoyingly loud either. It's Less loud than my old 6700k at 4.7GHz on a Corsair H115i AIO.
Temp on the QBX can hit the 80 in gaming and high 80s maybe even 90 during benchmarks. I'm in a very warm environment and a warm upstairs room. Most people would have better results.
Depending on the silicon lottery my Raijintek build could deliver similar results. If the chip requires more voltage I might have to turn down the overclock a bit or restrict the power limit somewhat. We will soon find out.
The QBX does support more fans so we'll see how the Ophion Evo holds up. I am thinking about adding 3 small 40mm Noctua fans to the bottom of the Raijintek case on the GPU side to aid with flow/intake.
Lukas Schmelzeisen just finished my build. This is my new favorite case for a SFF build. After drilling my own mounting holes, fitting a 280 AIO was really easy, as was installing a 140mm fan at the bottom.
In Cinebench My 9900K did:
All core 5.0GHz at 1.25V with this in the high 60s low 70s.
All core 5.1 at 1.28V with temps in the low to high 70s
All core 5.2 GHz at 1.33V with temps in the high 70s to mid 80s.
At 5.2 the fans really kicked in and is was Louder them the previous overclocks. Again your not going to get super quite putting high end components in an small ITX case.
It was a cool might, so in a few days my unusually warm ambient temps will likely add 5 to 7 degrees to that.
Also this is my third 9900K build each processor has outperformed the previous one. Either Intel's process has improved or I've been very lucky with my silicon.
I'll have to wait for later in the week to really test and see about GPU performance. So far I'm very pleased

Lukas Schmelzeisen I took a couple of pictures during the build process, all have to get some more pics this week with it finished. Right now it's running with my old GTX 1080, but I also want to test it with my Asus STRIX 2080 Ti and see how it fits and runs. It's a good bit thicker due to its beefier heatsink so it might be to close or block the side panel. We'll see.
You can get an ATX to SFX adapter and use an SFX psu instead. Between that, and the open space behind the GPU area, I see a SFF custom loop happening with a cpu and gpu. The only part that sucks is there is no hole in the top of the case, as this would be a classic use case of "using the radiator as a res" sort of situration, although you may actually be able to squeeze a DDC/150mm res combo into that space.
Sfx psu often comes with the adapter
Maybe using a small custom distro plate to reduce tubing AND serve as a reservoir?
Glass side panels dont really work in these small cases considering all the cramped wiring and hoses. They should have released it with the aluminum side panels instead and left the glass as an optional add-on.
It sucks for portability as well. I'd be anxious about breaking the glass every time i transport it.
seems like common sense to me, I dont understand what the hell they were thinking.
They will at least be releasing aluminium side panels though, so that will be an option... and hopefully not an expensive one. May even be included, or as an alternative option (i.e buy the case with either). Case isn't even out yet so we shall see.

You actually can put a 240mm aio in the smaller Ophion case. I have accomplished this by simply using slim design fans for the radiator instead. It JUST fits, & the slim fans I am using also have rgb fan blades from Silverstone. They are the only rgb slim design fans on the market rn.
Now, Ik what you guys are thinking. Slim fans. That would just equal to less cooling... Well, not really true. As a matter of fact, I've not only tested it for myself, but they actually do very well for an aio in this particular case. I'll explain why...
The fans are called Silverstone FW125-ARGB, & yes, they do work with rgb software & can be synched. They have a max fan speed of 2000RPM & while they are not static pressure, they are on the other hand a half & half of static pressure & airflow. This aspect is actually suitable to the Raijintek Ophion & the reason why is because one, you need some static pressure to push air through the radiator obviously, which it does well btw, but also, since this is such a small case with not much room inside, the amount of space per volume within the case is small enough that the half airflow aspect of the fans will be sufficient enough to pull air through & out the case through the radiator as an exhaust.... Get what I am saying? ? If you used these fans as a main for a big atx case, then these fans may not be all that great for moving air around in such a spacious environment where the distance from one end of the case is far from the other.
Also, I have personally tested the difference in temps between two standard fans at the top with no aio vs a 240mm aio (NZXT Kraken x53) with two slim fans, & believe it or not, I got about 14 degree temp deduction using the aio (Mileage may very depending on setup).
So, if you can. Just put a 240mm aio in there, remove the stock fans & replace them with the Silverstone FW124-ARGB fans instead. It will make a good difference. Just my experienced advice using this case to you guys for modding this case for improved performance.
Bonus Tip: If you are using an air cooler/box cooler instead, then let me give you a cool helpful tip. This case was not design to fit a high profile air cooler/box cooler in it,... buuuuuuuuut I found a way to cheat that stated claim. Before I figured out that way to put a 240mm AIO in this case, I was using a box cooler, & the thing was, I was putting an R9 3900x into this case, & keeping low temps for that cpu is vital. I didn't WANT to use a low profile box cooler, because they simply just don't provide very great cooling, so I actually discovered a way to fit my Wraith Prism Cooler that came with my 3900x cpu into this case WITHOUT looking stupid AAAAAAND while also not needing any extra tools & still having the tempered glass on too.
How did I do it. Simple. You could just let the cooler stick out the case all retarded looking, but you can also just remove the screws & rubber bushings for the glass panel on the gpu side, & double the screws & bushings ontop of the screws & bushings on the side where your cpu is. Just screw the riser screws into the riser screws on the cpu panel side, same for the bushings. As a result, you will double the extension of how far the glass panel on the cpu side will stick out, giving you more room for a taller cooler, & just have the other glass panel on the gpu side screwed in flushed 😁👍
One thing to note though, these glass panels do not have vents obviously, so your temps will counter itself, but I solved this by simply taking these glass panels to an acrylic shop & having them create exact copies of these glass panels (Same thickness & dimensions), but added honeycomb ventilation where my gpu & cpu cooler was located, because tempered glass can not be cut.
So, this case is the BEST mini itx case so far that I could find, iiiiiiiiif you are willing to modify the case a bit & add a little extra money into it. Even better than the Ncase M1, because you have great cooling aaaand great aesthetics. The Ncase M1 blocks off a lot of stuff from being seen as well, while the Ophion shows off everything.
I just picked up the Raijintek Ophion Mini. I was able to fit an 120mm AIO and a full size ATX PSU in there without any modding. My temps are fairly good. When the ambient temp is 20C the max temp of my CPU was at 68C. It was a hard fought battle to put everything in there, but it was worth it.
Damn, they look amazing ! I think modders will quickly figure out that a small cut in the separator will make AIO installation much easier (I can see GPU watercooling compatibility too with similar modifications), also drilling holes in the inner-front panel would easily offer 3.5'' mounting.
In addition, I'd say that you can make space in the regular Ophion for a 120 radiator on top of an SFX PSU, using the same trick to cut the separator
I realize that I'm late to the party here, but I just received my M1 this week. Couldn't be happier. Even having seen all the videos, it's still stunning how small and light it is. I was waiting for cases on the regular market to catch up and be as well designed for a SFF work-/gamestation. Didn't know about these, but they certainly look like solid contenders, finally. Still, I won't be returning the M1...

I have a ncase m1 sitting at the post office but now im thinking that ophion non evo could definately fit a 240 rad at the top with fans on the outside. Almost as small as the m1, cheaper, and more cooling potential. A custom loop would look badass in that thing!!
You can use a CPU Block/Pump Combo, stick a small res. somewhere and put a 92mm rad in there with a 240.
I wouldn't say more cooling potential, but still a good option. I have the ncase m1 and I currently have a full res/pump, standard cpu and gpu blocks, a 240mm rad and a 92mm rad installed (and an external 480mm rad but that doesnt count).
If I didnt want to have the glass side panel, alternatively could have a 240 in the bottom, a 240 on the side and use a pump/cpu block combo and if I wanted a res there are some you can mount on the 92mm fan mount on the rear.
All that said, the ncase follows the standard case layout style, if you want to show off your gpu or mobo then the raijintek is a great option

This is pretty much my dream sffpc that i've been looking for sans few things. I wish they had 3.5hdd support naturally but it should be super easy to mod it.
They only other thing I wish that they had is the bottom intake 120mm fan slot could house a slim radiator. that way you can have 240mm aio for cpu and 120mm hybrid gpu. That would make the very high end components near silent with the new noctua fans.
I think you were misinformed. According to their website and installation guide they support at least 1 3.5" HDD and 1 2.5" HDD for the Ophion.
Other than that, great video. Really hope the perforated aluminum panels come with the case and not as an add on.
I been waiting for this case, the DAN SFX-A4 is too small to properly cool my component.
Love Raijintek cases recently. Metis and Styx super cheap, moddable. Thetis 28 liter ATX. Coeus semi-open, like halfway Paean or TT P-series. None are perfect but always interesting. Same for Ophion: fair criticism and nitpicks, but looking at the current market still very welcome.
The 240mm would go in front of perforated (no glass) sidepanel, correct? Anyway, I totally agree. I like MOBO/GPU sandwich design, but Metis 3 would have been a close second. Don't like the off-set glass either, only on open cases like Coeus or 570x or view 71.
I can see it now, yeah that would be epic. I saw a pic on overclock net forum of a custom loop with a 240mm and 120mm rad, so I guess it's possible? Google "metis 240mm radiator". Not the cleanest build ever but snug as a bug.
Gotcha, no front i/o and power button. No joke it's an inch, maybe less if I/O could move to 1cm closer to the front panel, could require a smaller PCB. Damn it's soooo close for custom 240mm loopiness. And flip the mobo like your build, make it au naturel. I really hope they come back to this case and do the evolution.

that's pretty big. especially when you put them side by side with the dancase a4. that side panel is ugly though.
I think the Tempered glass sidepanels are absolutely beuatiful and the fact that they are on both sides AND doesnt effect the temperatures very much is just insane....and especially the non evo is very small too and in white it looks so stunning! in the evo you can even cool a 3950x which is ridicolously cool (little play on words xD). And when it comes to price...the Ophion clearly beats the dan a4 with its ridicolous 250 bucks even though it has not a singe piece of tempered glass in it! clearly the Ophion in white with glass sidepanels is the Winner here!

These are very neat cases. However in my opinion all Raijintek cases have one major flaw and that is right-side motherboard orientation. It may not be such a problem for big towers, but these compact mini-ITX marvels are supposed to be placed on the table, mainly to the right from the monitor (it’s obvious because the majority of users are right-handed), thus logically making visible not the motherboard and all the bells and whistles in all its glory, but the left side with the messy cables.
i like these cases, i have a modified metis myself with a fairly tight build inside, N68-ucc, Phenom 1055t, arctic freezer 13, 16gb corsair vengeance, 8gb MSI R9270X with an arctic accelero, 3x 120mm fans. build order is CRITICAL but it all fits nicely and runs well without overheating

I did check a lot of your reviews and also of available mini-ITX cases in general. You often recommend the NCASE M1, however, the design is unfortunately a bit tasteless, IMHO.
The DAN A4 is nice, hard to get currently, but quite expensive just to save some litres of volume. I think the SFF trend is a bit weird... I see beauty in getting these old mid towers smaller, with a nice design, aluminium material and get rid of useless drive slots, which destroy the look, but if the case has 20 or 16 liters... not sure if this is the most important point for getting a gaming PC with design. Different story for media-center PC in living rooms...
My current build is using an JONSBO UMX1. I was able to get a 120mm AIO in and there is no room left - but: It is not fun to build, neither temperature is acceptable at all for GPU and SSD. This case is not made for a gaming PC... I am currently switching to the Ophion EVO. My main concern is the 2-slot offering for the GPU. GPUs are going to take 2,5 or even 3 more and more. And I would love to see a RISER cable test on your reviews. These cables are the downside of mini-ITX designs. They cause problems, sometimes, especially cheap ones and extra costs. If you need to buy an extra riser cable, the EVO is not that cheap anymore.
You often ask for 3.5" drive support... for me 3.5" isn't the right choice for mini-ITX in regards to size and noise levels. If I build a mini-ITX, I take a .M2 SSD and if need be, a second SATA SSD and if I need much more space, a NAS, external drive or cloud storage. However, Raijintek's internet page cleary shows that the Ophion Evo supports ONE 3.5" drive instead of the bottom fan.
The market is stil dominated by ATX power supplies with better ratings for less money. So, if you do have an ATX size power supply, you are happy to get this into a Ophion Evo. If you use a Ryzen 5 3600, a 120mm AIO is sufficient and you can put a standard ventilator above the ATX supply. If you need the space for 240AIO, there are many adapters for SFX. So, it's possible. Luckily they don't ship a power supply like NZXT on their H1 or InWin on their A1 plus.

it's the same thing with mid towers. You can get a $50 case, but it will be flimsy and thin. If you get an NZXT or Lian Li, the build quality is significantly different. So then, the only thing that keeps mini ITX cases from coming down to say $150, is the lack of popularity. You'll see. In a couple of years demand will go up, and prices are likely to drop a little.
They have an adapter for the smaller power supplies now, which is good because I was not looking forward to trying to squeeze an atx into it.
I would love to see some more builds with the deepcool castle as it would look amazing in a back and silver build or even a white with black accents. Also love the video as I'm looking for a media / small nas pc case that looks clean and modern
Louqe Ghost S1 and Dan C4 both are sandwich with 240mm support (or 2x 240mm support in the Louqe with 2 large top hats) although they are significantly more expensive or still in development.
Louqe's new ITX case has a 240 rad support on top too, might be interesting for you to check out. Although of course its going to be more expensive.

OMG I have been looking forward to this for months! Although I am disappointed to see how large they are compared to the DAN A4 case and the length of the front IO cables is totally unacceptable.
There is the possibility to buy metal panels, I have the standard version and with those the performance improve greatly.
I almost bought the M1 yesterday, but with the price of shipping and time to get here I didn't go through with it. I have been eye-balling this case and a couple others, but this has been listed as almost $200. I just purchased this from Newegg.com for 129.90! I will be using an EVGA 650 GM power supply, with either my ROG or MSI motherboard with a i7-7700 3.6ghz 65tdp cpu. One thing I am contemplating is getting a much longer pci riser cable and "braiding" it and snaking it around inside the case instead of behind the motherboard where my M.2 is located. I also see a good use of the jigsaw on that center support to make room for an H55 water cooler - maybe, have to mock it up though first.

This case really needs some cover above PSU where the cables come form so you can hide excess cables there. It would be so easy thing to add and would make build much more pretty. Such an wasted opportunity, there's plenty of space there. Otherwise it's pretty sweet case.
Just bought the ophinion, went for the solid metal option though, since this will be a pc I through in my car and take it with me often, can't wait for it to show up. Currently using the fractal core 500 which is a great case, but a little big.

Also let's not forget to mention the Type-C port on the front. It's available on every mid-high end board since late 2016, yet most case manufacturers refuse to use it.

Raijintek will hopefully be more easily available to buy from sellers. With the Evo having that built in clearance for a 240 radiator I would be interested for you to do a review of the ID Cooling Hunter Duet.
I feel that SFF cases really get your raise your interest in case modification. I have a QBX (first video of yours I saw btw) and have gone from “maybe I could make some custom length power cables buy cutting a crimping one end of a cheap extension cable" to "XSPX TX240? Hey maybe I can get dual 240 radiators in this thing?”.

Good work from Raijintek. There is room for a lot of improvements but its a good first iteration. Just wished these could only fit sfx-L in order to put two fans on the bottom and to be a bit smaller. On the evo they should remove a little bit of space on the motherboard side to give to the gpu side, so it could have more room to breath. if we are buying the evo, we waht to use AIO, so we dont need space for "tall" top down coolers
For those who wants affordable mITX form factor with watercooling in this specs, it seems they better go for the Lian Li Q38. Build quality seems better and the size seems just like the Ophion Evo.
I've asked about perforated side panel to Raijintek. They said that both Ophion and Ophion Evo will come with TG version only. But, you can buy perforated side panel separately

@Optimum Tech According to Raijintek website you can fit a 200mm fan in the base and a 360 rad in the top of the EVO. I have a 1080ti Hybrid would it be possible to mount x1 120mm and x1 240mm rad in the top of the case?

Very nice cases at a much more reasonable price. While the lack of HDD and SSD mounts is an issue, I find the orientation of components in the case to be more problematic. Making the PSU visible on the same side as the CPU makes for a very unsightly view unless you have one of those rare RGB PSU. The vertical mount for the GPU is also unpleasant and of course since both panels have TG, the airflow is worthless. I think this case will be more popular with the metal side panels. I much prefer the Thermaltake Level 20 VT design and am thinking of getting that case.Thanks for bringing in some good budget options for us to look at.

i was considering this one but didnt like the tempered glass as stock. would have rather had aluminum sides stock. i think the materials on some of these sff cases a little bit to exotic. its nice that they managed to chop the cost but i think they could have brought it down more with aluminum panels.
Loque Ghost S1 supports water cooling with tophats and has a sandwich config like the evo.

1:44 I want more manufactures to get in the sff case manufacturing. I like that it has usb 3.1 gen 1 Type-A and Type-C in the front. like that the gpu length 340mm. I like they are sub 200 USD vs the alternative +200 USD cases. I like that there is a cpu clearance of 86mm. What I don't like; dual glass side panels and the fact they are bigger than their competitors with less practical compatibility. I do think it is a good case, for me it doesn't compete with the semi-portable sff cases, but it competes with the home theater style itx cases like the phanteks shift/shift x or fractal define nano S.
The problem is that cases much over 8l are difficult to carry around in a backpack. Unfortunatly the only cases which can fit full length graphics cards under 8l are over £200.

they look good, but they are so big, compared to their counterparts, I have been moving all my systems to SFF, 4.7 Litter on the Skyreach and 7.2 litters on the Dan A4-SFX, but still worth considering
Its a shame as I was waiting for the Ophion, but there was no launch/availability information. Unwillingly i had to go for In-Win 301.
Nice review but in my opinion: keeping the ATX PSUs is a good option. SFX power supplies are getting better but but feature rich & quality PSUs (for instance from Seasonic and EVGA) are offered in ATX still. And despite the compromise in the size is not significant.
I know i'm a year late but i'm waiting on the evo to show up here. Cant wait to custom loop cpu and gpu! I do have a 650w sfx and 1000w atx. I'm thinking of the 1000w with some custom cables because i dont believe the fan will turn on and it doesnt get ridiculously hot like the evga sfx one does.

i'll stick with my dan case a4. Downside is that custom cables is something I really recommend for the dan case a4 and water cooling still requires a fan for the m.2 ssd/mainboard components but again... the size contra its layout are very good designed. Since I need a very small case there is only one option for me. Also the designs are quite what I expect it to be for this amount of money.
I think the 3,5 HDD is located alternatively to the button fan.

I am trying to decide between either an Ophion or a Dan A4 for a build to place in the living room, next to the TV. I like the Ophion support for exhaust fans and taller cpu coolers, but I am afraid it is too large in comparison to the Dan Case.
Since you have both cases, could you please do a comparison video between the two in regard to size? Or just share some pictures of them side by side from various angles to better give the perception of the size difference? Thank you very much! Best wishes to the channel!

Idk if this is something they adjusted after your review but you can put a 3.5in HDD in the standard Ophion, I have a 3tb HDD in mine right now, it gets seated in place of the front top fan.

i hope they can give option for standard ventilated metal side panel and it would be perfect. tempered glass panel look great but it doesnt help small itx case to breathe.
I hope Raijintek will create a version 2 of this pc case that is slightly more compact that will support a SFX only PSU and probably shorter in height as well. Will definitely buy that version 2 if they will create one but i highly doubt it and maybe they will just create a new pc case lineup.

Those are roomy cases to have excluded 3.5 inch drive support. If I'm going to sacrifice media storage for a smaller space, it should at least be as small as the Silverstone Raven line of cases.

You should check out the Streamcom DA2. I was considering the Ophion, Ncase, Loque S1, but the Streamcom Da2 seems to fit my needs the best.
Um... I know this review was done over 1.5 years ago, but the Raijintek Ophion DOES support 3.5 HDD.
I just looked their website, and it shows that 1 - 3.5 HDD or 2 - 2.5 HHDs/SSDs can be mounted at the bottom of the case instead of the 120mm fan.
Maybe this is a design change since it's original release, but I don't see them indicating that this is a new version.
Is it possible to put a atx psu in the non-evo version?
I think you can put an ATX PSU in the regular Ophion, but it may use one of the top fans space. I would go with a 450-600W SFX PSU though, they have plenty enough power for any setup (I've seen people playing on an 7700K and GTX1080 both OC'd with a 300W HDPlex PSU)

NCase owner here - have yet to find anything better. I wish there was a case with the internals/dimensions of the NCase M1, but the externals/panels of the Phanteks Evolv TG. That would be the perfect case for me.
I wish Ncase would just make a Riser Card version. Ncase M1 needs a decent number of fans for cooling high end parts (at least two bottom fans - exhaust if going custom air route).
Ghost S1 is smaller, prettier, and just as flexible.
The Geeek a40 mini itx case is a good alternative as well

Being limited to 2 exhaust fans (from the AIO) and 1 intake fan (on the bottom), as well as the open vents around the side of the glass - I'm guessing it's impossible to have positive air pressure in this case?
I was about to pull the trigger and buy one until I realized that, or have people found a way around the inevitable dust and cooling situation with this case?
was looking for a new itx case. Was disappointed to see nothing new from a few years ago or anything small enough to replace my core 500. The Ophion Evo might be what I was looking for. Though, lack of a 3.5 hdd might be a problem.
I think you should look at the Riotoro CR1080. It's a full ATX case but is about the size of a larger itx pc case. I think it's worth a look considering your tastes. It's available on newegg
most silverstone sfx psus come with an adapter so you could use it in this case

Awesome! Now the prices should get lower! One question: Does it support sfx psu? Even if I'd build an air cooled setup would be in evo, more clearence for airflow and maybe find a way to "squeeze" a 3.5" HDD.

Great review, just got the Ophion Evo to move from a Silverstone FT03. I was just wondering what could be the optimum airflow in this case... Top intake and bottom exaust? or Bottom intake and top exaust? I will be using a couple of Corsair H60 for both CPU and GPU...
Nice video and very nice cases! I didn't get if the SFX brackets (if any) come with the case? Also do tempered glass or mesh panels come with the case by default? Could end up being a bit more expensive if you need to buy both of these on the side. Is black the only color they come in, or is a Silver version also available?
I'm still wondering if I should get the Ncase or one of the Ophions. Feel that one huge benefit of the Ncase are the options you have with the case plus the airflow. Still interested in knowing how the Ophions thermals are under gaming. Think I'm gonna wait for more reviews and see. But currently my finger is still on the Ncase...

Now, with that out of the way, I have a BIG question: the Seasonic SGX power supply comes with an SFX to ATX bracket. Do you know if I can use that to install the SFX power supply in the EVO?
