    That bass looked far better at the start of the video, in black and white! Lovely…

    This time dear Scott, you got me ! This is exactly the type of content I'm looking for to flesh out my skills. Getting into the Jazz typed phrases and licks is kind of difficult especially for self-taught bass player like me, used to play rock, pop, funk, etc.
    Jazz is a mandantory passage to continue our wonderfull trip into music and bass guitar !
    I'm very, very, very, very interested by the Jazz Accelorator.... Mmmmh... this time dear Scott... you gonna have my money !
    You're too tought bro !!!
    PS : by the way this bass is awesome. What is it ?

      Hello! What was your results after the Accelerator? I hope you've moved far behind the canned licks and create your own?

    Great licks but why the strange/ difficult notation in fretnumbers instead of just displaying the actual notes? ( and adding the fingering below the notes) Very confusing to me. And where can I download/ find the sheet music?

    Most bass players cover songs already written , the best advice is to learn the simplistic scales unless you play jazz then good luck 👍

    Hello, does the course have subtitles in Spanish? Unfortunately I don't speak English, but I want to take this course. Mainly in jazz, which is what I have been studying.

  • @oil_can

    Great lesson… BUT… it would be even more valuable if you played the licks over a guitar or keyboard track with the chord changes and a drum beat so we could hear the bass licks in context.

      This is a very good point dude. I mean that's extremely important, shocked that isnt there by default - though we could definitely search simple songs out and do it still so there's always that.

    • @NoddyTron
      @NoddyTron 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just imagine a 4/4 pulse underneath. Bebop has a pretty recognisable form. If you listen to a couple of records it’ll become immediately clear

    • @oil_can
      @oil_can 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoddyTron It’s not really the beat I’m missing, it’s the chord changes. But if he were to add the chords, he might as well add the beat too.

    • @wyrdstone85
      @wyrdstone85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree - context is everything here, bebop lines are NOT your regular smooth playing and you need to hear the licks played against the applicable harmony to get that sound in your ears.

    Thank you for this valuable info ! I swear I thought you suggested 5 string basses weren’t good. No big deal, just wondering if I misunderstood.

    • @brentemerson4593
      @brentemerson4593 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scott did a video with a title like that, but in the video he basically says you should not get a 5-string if you're not going to use all five strings.

      @johnmclaughlin2392 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brentemerson4593 Cool! I have a Musicman 5 ,under my bed, from back when I wanted to be like Tony Levin. I love it to pieces but I prefer down-tuning a 4 string now. Thanks for your response.

    Sorry, I think there is actually G7maj, as 4 on G string means B...(!)

    • @devinebass
      @devinebass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey dude! On the chart when you see the "maj7" this is referring to the major/minor tonality of the 7th note in the scale. The G7 chord is still a major G chord (containing the B as you have mentioned) however it contains a dominant/minor 7, the foundation of the chord being the mixolydian scale. Hope that helps! 👊🏻

    I noticed that your thumb seems to move down for every string crossing. Why not move thumb down when two strings are crossed and use a rest stroke to mute lower string?

    • @DanielGarcia-tl6lj
      @DanielGarcia-tl6lj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think he wants to

    • @DokterRekt
      @DokterRekt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He plays with a floating thumb technique, it keeps his muting really solid and also makes every string feel like it’s directly below your thumb, like if your thumb was on the E and you were strumming A. I personally find it to allow for faster playing when you get comfortable with it.

    • @spinomarxist2688

      Floating thumb technique for muting, really useful for 5 and 6 strings !

    you forgot the trick number four, if you subscribe for a trial account in scott bass lessons, you can't cancel it before the trial ends so they can charge you for 1 year account for ever.
    I used to be a fan but I subscribed to the 14 days trial account and I want to cancel it and the system doesn't allow me to do it, this is super scammy, stay away from this

    Who ever set up your guitar didn’t do a great job. It has way too heavy gauge strings and it’s missing one. Also it’s tuned way low. I’d ask for a refund.
