He isn’t perfect, he’s flawed in many, many ways, his “friends” either hate him or can’t stand to be around him, but that doesn’t make him a bad person, honestly all that really suffered was that he lost his airship, but he’s violet, he can just buy another one. Plus the route ends with you and him watching shrek, clearly the best ending of all the pesterquest routes
LoL I will admit it was pandering. But this route was quite frankly the best interpretation of eridan so far by different writers. Whenever I see people portray eridan, they either make him a soft boy or satan. People failed to understand that eridan, despite having many valid reasons as to why he went apeshit, still went apeshit in the first place. The hemospectrum segment that follows after the gender commentary is a stark contrast to the gender stuff, a blatant reminder that eridan is a fucking racist, whether he genuinely believes it or not. But again, he isn’t purely evil either. The whole reason he wanted to side with bec noir was because he genuinely thought there was no way to defeat him, and that maybe siding with them will help. He didn’t want to kill feferi either, and did that out of self defense, as she was charging at him. Most of what eridan does is chalked up to neglect from others, and clouded judgement (destroying the matriorb was a dick move though) A character like this is difficult for most people to really get a grasp of, as people tend to focus on one aspect or another of eridan, either focusing on his crippling Loneliness or the heinous shit he’s done. This was one of the few times they actually got the formula close to right. Could they have left the gender stuff out? Yes, they definitely could’ve, but I’m glad they didn’t do that for the entire arc and griever remembered that eridan is a hipster incel that got fucked over a lot of times but still caused half their own problems
