Thanks to the efforts of dozens of artists we can finally show you what really went down when the trolls of Alternia clashed with the monstrous Black King of Derse on the crumbling Battlefield at the center of Skaia.
And even if that stuff was completely incomprehensible to you, this animation is sure to pique your interest if you have even a cursory interest in spectacular cartoon battles. The cool thing is, Karkat doesn't even have any special powers of any kind, yet he still charges in first, and lands the first, while weak, still a hit, which leaves an imprint on the boss.
His power is to be all up in a ranchorous mood all the time
Naw next to Vriska, Karkat was probably exploiting his aspect the most even if not a god-tier. A knight exploits his aspect for offense and defense, and blood represents bonds. Karkat being the leader and drawing "First blood" is probably the best thing he could have done as a leader.
Because if HE can do it, so can they.
Can we talk about how he *drew* first blood? He was first, and *drew* the Blood aspect symbol on the King. With blood. You don't get to be more hardcore than that.

I think the best part of this animation is how each character got equal chance to be a badass, and all of them pulled through on it.
Most animations would just focus on one or two characters.

BurningCaprisces tavros attempted to take out the eye, prompting kanaya to do her thing. and them when the animals were summoned tavros mind controlled them so the others could take em out
He was also effective fighting the dersians in the lead up to the battle against the black king
@@caprisces6139 When watching this video over a year ago i saw a comment that explained Tavros' roll perfectly. He's a page. At this time in the comic it was widely thought that pages were support classes. Jake's super strong hope power aura and whatnot kinda eschews the whole passive page thing but it still stands.
Pages are a male only class and in Homestuck male characters are usually more passive and supportive in comparison to female character. Take a mediator and passive character like Karkat compared to someone like Aradia or Vriska who both not only god tiered but pushed the story froward in many ways. Tavros played a supporting roll to the rest of his party the way a page would.
Tavros filled his roll perfectly as a page. His roll may not have been as flashy or dynamic as Vriska, Kanayas, or even Nepeta but he still filled an important roll.
I just realised what Terezi was doing. By playing up the act of an innocent, oblivious blind girl, she lowered the King's guard and tricked it into attacking her with no regard for it's safety, allowing her to drop the act and unleash a full blown assault.
even though Terezi IS blind, she can easily hold her own in a FRIEG.

some things people don't give you enough credit on:
•NAILING that gamzee expression before he started jumping towards the king.
•Terezi's behavior of acting like the dumb poor blind girl before going all-badass and stabbing the king in the eye. It's really in character
•Eridan's slight hesitation of aiming at Sollux before aiming at the king
•That 'elegant and deadly beauty' to Kanaya that goes really well with her character and the music (also remembering that she has a wadrobifier)
•Vriska being badass. Nuff said
•Vriska marking out 'The End' and using her quirk.
•that awesome scene of the mirages of the ancestors next to their descendants.
•Those last two finishing panels with all the character- you really nailed the way they acted
•using the things like 'happen' and 'botslode'
•Remembering everyone's things that they do like Tavros's Rufio and Terezi's coin flipping
All in all, this was an amazing animation!
Edit: I actually just noticed that the mark over 'the end' is in the shape of vriska's horn. Nice.
also note that karkat's first major attack (the big slice across it's chest) resembles the blood symbol

Can we appreciate how gamzee removes the head WITH A BLUNT OBJECT. he was strong enough to hit the entire head off
as karkat said at some point, that one blown made by itself more damage than all the damage that everyone else together reach at that point.
He didn’t just hit it off, he OBLITERATED it! There’s no trace of it, no sight of it flying off, not even a blood spray. It was just reduced to ATOMS from the sheer impact!

Small things i notice that I love
-Eridan getting pissed at those evil animal things and going on the shooting rampage
-almost shot Sollux but he blocked it with rock
-almost his Karkat, Karkat started ranting and got distracted, almost getting himself killed
-Terezi threw that pie container at Gamzee, knowing that will help because of her powers
-Vriska choking Eridan with his scarf, getter her distracted so they get crushed
-Terezi pretending to act stupid then being a bad ass
- Eridan deciding if he should shoot Sollux
- Kanaya being stylish and changing her outfit the whole time
-I though when the trolls that could fly helped the trolls who couldn't was really cute
-Nepeta helping Terezi move before she blew up
-Aradia pushing Sollux out of the way b4 he would blow up
-Feferi trying to help Eridan who is slipping of the damn Lilly pad

Nah, The Cheat might have actually done something useful.
Karkat is actually fantastic at combat, especially against such a large and dangerous foe. Despite having no special troll abilities (superhuman toughness, STRENGTH, psionics, fauna control, telekinesis) he really holds his own here. He doesn't get enough credit for how excellent he is at battle.
Plus, WAY later in Collide, he takes out Clover, whose whole thing is being *invincible through luck.*
Granted, that’s probably thanks to that bad luck computer virus from the beginning of Act 5, but otherwise, the kid can more than hold his own!
I mean he still gets his ass saved by STRENGTH but yeah he’s like Hawkeye

Vriska may have been the only one to hit the actual god tiers, but they all were at the tops of their echeladders and with the strongest fraymotifs possible. He doesn't have Gamzee's Juggalo strength or Vriska's bullshit luck powers but he does comparable damage to Terezi and Nepeta, at least visually.

Equius tore out the kings tongue
Nepeta made the second slash
Feferi and Eridan each destroyed one of the king's wings
Sollux and Aradia both lobbed a meteor at the king
Gamzee cracked open the king's skull and decapitated one of his heads
And Vriska destroyed his scepter and landed the killing blow.

It's the same when they fought LE. Karkat did zero damage but he lead the charge and gave everyone else the courage to attack after him. LE is one of those guys who's just so incredibly massive, muscular, and intimidating that you just instinctively hesitate to attack whenever you see him, so that took a lot of guts on his part even if he was just dreaming

I love how theyre personalities got worked into the whole fight, like Eridan wanting to shoot Sollux, Karkat being mad about everything, and Equius breaking his bows and stuff.
Things I love about this
-Gamzee trying to climb into Tavros's rocket
-Kanaya changing outfits and being extremely elegent while she fights
- Karkat ranting and almost getting killed because of it
- Terezi playing dumb but being an absolute bad ass with the coin flip
- Tavros using his ability to communicate with monsters
- Feferi switching between tridents as she fights
- Vriska switching to Godtier and then switching to a copy of mindfang
- The ancestors being flashed behind everyone
- Gamzee going sober then ripping off the king's head in one hit
- Equius getting frustrated when his bow breaks
- Nepeta fighting in a cat like way and having quick movements
- Sollux and Aradia fighting side by side and Aradia protecting Sollux
- Eridan almost firing at Sollux
- All flying trolls saving the ones who can't fly
- Karkat raking his sickle across the king's chest
- Terezi having the time of her life riding the monsters
- Feferi saving Eridan from falling
- Gamzee and Tavros riding on his rocket chair together
And so much more this was absolutely amazing when I firat watched back in 2016 out and it still is
I love how well they represent the characters' personalities without the characters saying anything

Actually, in the actual canon, Gamzee *is* the one who fucking killed him. Vriska got the last hit, but he stopped trying out of pure shock when Gamzee hit him.

My favorite little thing about the animation is that they featured each troll during their respectable "theme". It seems obvious, but you'd be surprised at how many people can't point out which song would belong to who.

I'm glad that in homestuck, we see true full anger Gamzee in all of his glory in the "GAME OVER" timeline. Now I know he's far more terrifying than he is shown to be in this video.

I cannot fathom a world where I didnt hang out with over 100 kids who blocked up city streets and freaked out over each update! Being a Homestuck during the haydays of the fandom was something to be seen
It makes me sad that I missed out on all that. I didn't get into HS until late 2014 and didn't fully catch up until literally 2 days before it ended.

I absolutely love how we don't even see Gamzee's attack. He just does it in a flash and destroys a massive chunk of the King. It really layers on to the mystery of his character. I could ramble about all the details in this animation. You can tell how much care and thought and effort was put int this from such excellent fans of the source material.

Remember, princes are what the session has too much of, and knights are what they have too little of. So the trolls had too much hope (in killing the king) and not enough bonds. Which then caused the cancer frog

The Beta Troll’s session had too much relationship drama (heart) and not enough positive bonds (blood), the Alpha kids literally had a void session, etc.

4. Would-be-stabber get stabbed in the conveniently marked location in the middle of their chest and turns from would-be-stabber to stabee

I think nobody gives some or enough credit to the Aradiabots, like, seriously? One of them swept Gamzee up, thus avoiding his imminent death by crab claw. Then, I think, at one point, she pushed someone away to save them (Equius?), the true Aradia SMASHED FUCKING ASTEROIDS IN THE KING AAAAAAND put herself in the way of the King's psionics attack on Sollux!

Tavros too. If it weren't for him, I dunno, maybe everyone would be in an evil creature's tentacles until he eats them all? Plus, he did a lot of damage. Aradia and Tavros are two of the most ignored characters in Homestuck.
Internally Screaming Well, that's kinda true. They have memorable moments, you know. For example: Anyone could remember the time Gamzee flirted with Tavros.

4:30 - 4:37 can I just talk about how much I love this segment and how hard I laugh at it every time I see it. It's just so, chaotic and everywhere at the same time. You need to replay the video in slow motion to see what the hell is going on. The music is so in sync with the moment. It's like a fight in real life, everyone is everywhere and all over the place and as an outsider you can't even tell what the hell is going on. Also Terezi riding the Pegasus-looking thing is hilarious
What gets me with this animation is that none of these events or sequences are even logical leaps; the song spells it all out, because it was very carefully orchestrated to match all of these characters.
Effectively, this is a canon animation of an off-screen moment in homestuck, because the music already told the whole story.
over 10 years of homestuck later, and this still never ceases to impress me.
I love Kanaya at the end while everyone else is just like arguing or talking or being relieved Kanaya's just like "Ok which of my clothes doesn't have fucking blood on it"

Everyone was a badass during this battle. The Aradia-bots did a ton of damage and assisted all the trolls; Tavros gained enough confidence to attempt to challenge the king; Sollux used his powers to deal an excessive amount of damage throughout the battle; Nepeta, along with the assistance of her STRONG morail, added another slash across the king's chest; Karkat ran around the king, taking out his tentacles left and right anime-style; Kanaya did the same but in her multiple badass outfits and using her chainsaw to compliment said fashion; Terezi, who I remind you is BLIND, somehow took out one of the king's eyes and assisted Karkat in multiple other attacks; Vriska was probably the most badass as she was the one who actually took out the king in the most awesome way possible BY BECOMING HER BADASS ANCESTOR AND GOING GOD TEIR; Equius ripped the king's tongue in half. Seriously he did that; Gamzee zoned off for half the battle but after Terezi punted a pie tin at him he finally paid up for his uselessness and went juggalo insane, claiming one of the king's heads without any weapons (that shit's actually kinda creepy ((not like he wasn't creepy in the first place though))); Eridan took out plenty of other enemies whilst assisting Feferi to rid the king of his wings; and finally Feferi gave him another good scar to remember.
God damn everything in this video is so badass.

At 4:16 he is seen to consider aiming at Sollux, but then aims at the king. Then later on, he is seen shooting aimlessly, and angrily, and almost shoots Sollux. They argue at the end, but Eridan seems like he's mad at _Sollux_ for something. That's the analysis I made of it.

The Vast Glub was a power that could kill all trolls in the universe, if it was loud enough. This is canon knowledge.
Also, the Aradiabots stop the first attempt at the Vast Glub and clearly blunt the effects of the second one enough that it doesn't kill anyone, so definitely props to them.

Alex P. too bad that canon states that Gamzee's rage was caused by no one and randomly came. while the anim is considered canon and I like it a lot I find this the meh part of it.
I swear to god this thing is a predecessor to all of the MAPs (multi-animator projects). So many artists collaborated to make a visualization of the 12 troll kids fighting against the king of Derse, and it’s all seamless despite the different art styles seen here. It’s glorious.

Well. I've known about Homestuck for like, ever.
I've just never cared to put the time into actually reading/watching/clicking it.
This has officially changed my mind.
Tip:
The first couple of acts are boring.
That person's tip isn't very good. All of it is fine. It's a slow start but do not skip anything, the mundane beginning is what gears you up for the big adventure ahead.
I never told them to skip it, and that's my opinion on the first couple acts. Most people already know about their species enough to where they want to learn about others, so the trolls would generally be more fascinating, so my tip is not stupid. At least compared to Act 5+

I loved how in between the working together parts (although they fought together the whole time), there were little parts that focused on one or two specific trolls. Karkat, Terezi, Tavros, Kanaya, Equius + Nepeta, Feferi + Eridan, Aradia + Sollux, Gamzee, and finally Vriska. They even had little mini soundtracks fitted perfectly in to help with it too. Also, I noticed that Tavros saved Kanaya when she broke free from the spider silk and then Kanaya saved Tavros as he was facing certain death from being knocked out of the air. I just thought that was awesome, and the animation overall is awesome. Honestly, I can't believe it was fan-made. That's how close the styles are to Hussie's.
