The vid was directed by Terence Donovan, at that time one of the biggest names in the fashion photography world. the girls were themselves top models and the video is a spoof on how women were often portrayed as spare parts, there to look good and nothing else. I love the song simple, cheesy but really fun and effective. Robert Palmer was very talented. and I love the vid and it's concept. Some feminists didn't like it but hey. not everyone likes everything.
This was one serious video that took it to terms. Rapper Tone's Loc was a close second with his hit Wild Thing, and then MC Hammer with Pumps In the Bumps traveling out in third. No one since has [to me] seen it done better.
