No, it didn't. The issue is: I want the 'schmuck' to 'see' the post but stop him/her from posting dumb, embarrassing crap comments. This is dicey, I know, cuz why would someone befriend a 'schmuck' & also refrain him/her ( well, that's a different long story...but it happens so in Life as we move on). At this moment, I think it's an f.b limitation lest you can show us how to do this specific trick( and not Only for one specific post but on all generic posts ). Basically, grant only 'Read Only' privileges to the person in question( no write privileges).
Unfortunately, no. I've set my Public post comments to Friends only, and still I sometimes get jackaloons vandalizing my feed by laugh-reacting at everything I've posted. When I check out their profile to block them, I see *their* public posts are locked down - I can't hit them back - but mine remain vulnerable to attack. Trying to track down what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for recklessly walking me thru a step that changed all my past posts away from public without warning me beforehand that the only way to reverse it would be one at a time. 15 years worth of posts changed. Thanks a lot bud
I wish Facebook would allow me to block an individual from commenting on my posts without having to block them in general. I have some people in my life that post impulsively stupid things and while I don't necessarily want to block them (or deal with the ramifications of blocking them), I would like to stop them from embarrassing me in public.
I would also like to do that. Only solution I have come up with is to hide their comments. This means no one else can see it and that person who commented won't know about this lol
Same here. Mom my constantly goes into posts from 6 years ago and leaves annoying comments. I don't want to block her, as she's 87 and it's all she has in life, but every time she does that, the post with her comment goes into other peoples feed! It's embarrassing. I've had to deal with it as a lesson to "just let it go". ugh.
IM IN NUMEROUS GROUPS ON FB AND WHEN I MAKE A COMMENT IN THE GROUPS SOME ARE PLEASANT AND SOME ARE NASTY. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE A COMMENT IN A GROUP AND HAVE IT SO NO ONE CAN REPLY EXCEPT TO GIVE A LIKE OR ANGRY FACE ETC. THAT WOULD WORK OUT MUCH BETTER IF WE HAD THAT OPTION.
Spectacular Trevor, thank you so much. Ex's one shares children with love to post negative shite. My ex is so stupid she will wonder what happened and think her computer is broken. Maybe she will buy a new computer to use in the trailer she has lived in since leaving the amazing life she once had with me, 23 years ago. It doesn't pay to be a evil C; she still hasn't figured that simple lesson out.
YES, OTHERS ARE WANTING TO KNOW THIS TOO INCLUDING MYSELF. I WISH I KNEW HOW ALSO TO DO THIS. MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL FIND OUT. SOME HAVE SAID YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS AT CERTAIN GROUPS ON FB.
Thank you very much for your sound advice and I have managed to block strangers by going to their profile as unfortunately, there has been a debate on Facebook which I can’t go into but no bad reflection on you. Basically, I made a comment on a post relating to abuse and again, it was only a comment and I certainly never posed a threat on anyone whatsoever as sure enough Face Book would be on the case and I’d have been kicked off as would anyone of course. I have autism and I have tried to explain this to certain candidates, jumping on the bandwagon et cetera, and tried heroically to vindicate myself. Anyway, I’m still on Facebook and it is no problem apart from a few folk as I say jumping to conclusions.
Nope. There are people posting comments on pages they follow & you cannot reply to their comment at all. Nor can you use an emoji, they aren't there. How can I post a comment on a public page I follow & make it where no one can remark/reply to my comment?
EXACTLY, THIS IS WHAT IM TRYING TO FIND OUT ALSO. I USE A LAP TOP FOR INTERNET NOT A PHONE. I AM IN NUMEROUS GROUPS ON FB AND I LIKE TO MAKE COMMENTS BUT I DONT WANT ANYONE TO BE ABLE TO REPLY TO MY COMMENTS IN THE GROUPS EXCEPT A LIKE OR AN ANGRY FACE AND THATS IT.
It seems like if I follow your directions, A friend will still see my page, but will not see a post. Is that correct? Is there a way for someone to be able to see my post, but not be able to comment on it?
NO BUT WE WANT TO LET HIM SEE THE POST BUT NOT COMMETING ON THE POST NOT STOPPING HIM FROM SEEING THE POST THIS OPTION IS DELETED AND I DONT KNOW WHY FACEBOOK HIDE SOME OPTIONS THAT ARE SIMPLE TO MAKE!!!
What does it mean if I can comment on a person's wall but they made it where I can't add them and Everytime I comment on their wall I get no response and I can still see their picture
i have a problem where i am trying to reply to someone replying to my comment. now i can not see the post nor can i comment at all, and their comment is dark while all i can do is read their reply to my comment. i assume they reported me.
Revelation 12:17 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
You wasted my time, at the end you finally get to "someone", and you show how to block them. Not what I was looking for and not what your title says. I want to stop someone from commenting on my posts on fakebook - and that's all! I would like them to see my posts and burn from the inside for not being able to respond! If you can tell us how to do that - let me know. Meanwhile - correct your misleading title/delete the video altogether...
@@OrenLikes I think you misread. You can do that. You have to change your post settings to public… it can’t be set to friends only. Once you set your post to public it will give you the option to allow people NOT to comment.
@@Girlbabe191 I think YOU misread... I want anyone to see, anyone to comment, except one person. My posts ARE public, Who can comment is also set, correctly, as I want, manually, to: Public. Trevor, I can identify with @xzero's comment below, however, once the ugly comment has been made, I can delete it and did, and I won't see it but, I'm afraid others can still see the comment (??) even though I did go ahead and delete the comment and block said person. My question is, can others still see the comment even though I deleted it? (because they haven't blocked this person is why I'm asking if they can still see it. It is set to friends only. Thanks

Yes? 😁 Give me a shoutout in the comments!
No? 😥 Leave a comment with your issue and we'll figure it out together.

Yea I definitely get it, unfortunately that’s a limitation at this point with Facebook.

bruh i just want to set my fb photos on public as well as i don’t want to show my photos from someone of my fb friends

same here Buddy, I vented this out in the topic starter to the author here.
People respond to articles & comments without having their remark/comment being able to be replied to. So there has to be a way.
I would also like to do that. Only solution I have come up with is to hide their comments. This means no one else can see it and that person who commented won't know about this lol

So after all that there is actually no option to prevent comments on posts.
there used to be, it was referred to as "muting" contact comments. (FB inconsistency)
There is you post has ti public then you click on the three dots on the post and change who can comment.
Exactly! This is so ridiculous

What about when you see comment threads and some people cannot be replied to or reacted to? How do you do that?

YES! Thanks Trevor, EXCELLENT video! It was extremely helpful!
No option for audience and visibility or followers and public content. Latest version of the app
Didn't work. Even checked my other fb account to check my old one and it didn't work.
Why is it some public posts you can’t click like, but they can on mine! Also how do I remove people following me?

I need to know how to stop others replying my comment.
I need comment from others.. but unneeded person replying to my comment.. so i need stop that
I just want to post and let no one comment, not block them. How can i do that, I use to be able to do it, not anymore
how I can block comments for specific ones on my post. He can see but not able to comment.

There is no menu icon at the bottom on my Facebook.

I figured it out your post has to be public then you click the three dots and you can say no one can comment.
