- CZ 457 LRP - Norma Match 22 - Ammo test - IBI Barrel
In this video I will test Norma Match-22 22 long rifle rimfire ammunition to see how well this highly regarded ammo performs in my CZ 457 LRP. I have installed an Olympic contoured barrel from IBI as well as a flat blade Timney CZ 457 precision Trigger.
The test will be compressed of 40 shots in total all fired from the prone at 50 yards. I will be recording shot data including (SD, ES, Highest, and lowest velocities, as well as the average velocity) of the ammunition tested. every test begins with 10 fouling shots from a clean barrel bore, followed by 4 - 5 shot groups and the 5th and final group will consist of 10 shots adding up to 40 total shots fired.

Your IBI barrel likes that Norma Match. from what i've seen it's hit and miss.. sometimes being beat out by Norma Tac 22. good shooting and, Happy New Year!

that IBI barrel seems to like that Norma match I haven't had a chance to try that normal match I can't get it soon as I do I'm going to try it seems that I'm going like it

@6:54 you had a 1420 reading. Did you account for that in your chroni data at the end? The velocity spread is pretty good for low cost ammo. I think the barrel you have plays a big role in that low deviation. It would be interesting to see a comparison of that ammo and others in two barrels of the same length. IBI barrels are rumored to be tight. Mine sure is but it's on a 455. If you cleaned the chamber those extraction issues might go away. I use a Crown Saver pull thru and just one dry patch after letting the chamber sit in Ballistol moistened Qtip applied to the depth of a 22 shell. But i'm also nobody in the rimfire game. Thanks. Ya I deleted the high reading before I posted it. Ya I think it’s a carbon ring in the chamber because when the rifle is fresh and clean I don’t have any issues but once a have a couple hundred rounds through it it starts to happen again. I’ll have to try that ballistol on a Qtip and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip
Out shooting in wi. 12/23/22 skirt all over 5 inch groups wind was horrible then shot midas plus all shots inside 2 inches at 100 yrds... thats it I'm a believer xact next when I can get it.... only as good as ammo u run.. 😎😎🎯🎯
That’s true to a point. There is a point of diminishing returns my rifle didn’t like Xact but liked Midas + and Center x better. Saves me $10 to $15 a box.
I ran a test with Norma TAC-22 (RedBox), Norma Match & Norma SubSonic out of my stock CZ 457 Varmint MTR at 50 yards. Five 5 shot groups in 1mph wind.
TAC-22 average was 0.47 in with ES of 46 & SD of 12
MATCH average was 0.53 in with ES of 32 & SD of 9
SubSonic average was 0.55 in with ES of 29 & SD of 7.
All in all not horrible for sale price of all 3

@@BROTUNED yeah...but for 3.50 a box for the TAC and I think I paid under 5 for the other two...it is not THAT bad. I also did the "eco-speed"....THAT was abysmal....

Shoots a little tighter out of my lilja barrel, the tac 22 and subsonic also shoot good out of it, I had to take a skinny file and file the edge of where the extractor fingers meet the shell skinnier, that area was to wide and not getting a good grab unless I fired the round, works every time now

That's been my experience as well...decent practice ammo for sure. Your chrono data is in line with mine too. On a side note....I do have one lot of this ammo that shoots poorly. Thanks for the video!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! 👍

Shoots very well for the price , the tac22 shoots a lil tighter in my rifles , but not a thing wrong with this 👍👍

Perhaps you are just getting better and as a results groups are much stronger.
That is a possibility. If been shooting a lot for a while now but I guess there is always room for improvement

Nice shooting! I love Norma Match and at 50 it is very close to Tac22, but the difference becomes obvious at 100+.

What is the cheapest and most expensive you paid for a box of .22lr?
Cheapest would be the bulk ammo like Winchester 555 I think go for around 45$ now and the most expensive to date is the Lapua X-act that was $35 for 50. That’s a bit to expensive for the results I got shooting it. The eley tenex and match work very well but that’s $29 a box of 50 so it’s a special occasion type ammo
@@BROTUNED I shoot about 400-500 rounds weekly at ORPS/NRL22 type practice sessions, and for me CCI SV, TAC22, S&B CM, RWS Target Rifle are all typical practice rounds. For actual matches I have no price limit (it’s only 1-2 boxes per match) so it’s SK LRM, SK RM, Eley Team, Match etc.
