Kip was underated. Most people couldn't stay in constant motion ,let alone dance, sing, play bass, and run work a crowd... And effortlessly. Hard working dude.
One of the best guitarists. The 80s had unbelievable amount of ultra talented guitarists.. kind of hard to believe how much talent there was within the decade's hair metal alone... Nothing like today. I'll always want to go back.
The promoter of the show would only allow us to record one song before they shut us off. It was recorded with the full knowledge and approval of the band for a documentary. Thanks
I'd like to slap the idiot who says guitar solos suck. Reb Beach, George Lynch, Slash & Eddie Van Halen took their songs to levels today's rock bands couldn't match. Long live 70's & 80's Rock. BTW, I just recently turned 40. However I salute your taste in music.
How do people not like guitar solos, they can be the part of a song that completely pushes the song to the next level. They are so important to music creativity and in my opinion todays music lacks so much creativity and musicianship its almost not worth listening to any new music. I will listen to 70's and 80's rock till i die, there is no comparison to those decades. i'm 19 if anyone else is around my age and likes those decades for rock message me or add me as a friend.
Reb's whole posture is different...so many of the guys do the spread legged leaning back thing...but Reb will start out with his legs together often and then just sort of slink around...totally different...
Reb was a better tapper than EVH as far as I'm concerned....and these guys had a progressive side about them with those offbeat breakdowns.....Who would've thought that Winger were some of the best musicians out there at the time.
@@damionchrist Emmett Chapman invented it. You were GOING to say that, RIGHT? Cause, you know, any other answer makes you look like, well..... a fool. Cheers!

@RoCk4LiFe90 That is awesome that you are so young and know what truly great music is! I was in my teens when this song came out, and it is still is one of the best songs ever. Hats off to you for recognizing and appreciating true talent!!!!
As for Kip...key characteristics for a frontman...great bod, great looks, killer hair, swagger, and the ability to project that ego out into the crowd and ket them in the palm of his hand...he does it in one man shows and in major halls too...remember when rock was like this...when the guys actually played with melody and technique and the band was tight and it was fun and they even dressed with some panache..now it's just guys wearing the same dirty t-shirt from yesterday and a bunch of ugly, morose, sullen gripers bitching about what other people have or have done to them or how frustrated they are at their own lack of motivation...lol
I can remember a time when to be a musician you had to practice guitar 12 hours a day until your fingers bled. Then you had to find 3 or 4 other equally dedicated and talented musicians to invest years into the project. Now you just get up on stage with headphones, play other people's stuff and twist a high pass filter knob.
And then write a rip off of ratt's lay it down, which was in itself an obvious VH riff rip off, dress up like a member of the cast of Dynasty, and wonder why people got tired of you and your scene.
They actually opened for Bad Company (Brian Howe as replacement singer). Another poster said Deep Purple was the main act but but we interviewed both bands and shot one song from each band that night so I know for sure Bad company was the headliner.
I found a swedish band that is new but they look like an 80's hair band and they make good music. The band is called Crashdiet look them up they are great
As much as I like Eddie van Halen and Randy Rhoads,Reb plays more "clean. " Not necessarily better in all aspects though. But he's an expert at playing clean amazing solos and maintaining rhythm. Compositionally pretty impressive as well.
oh yeah mr.winger,,,you commented 2 yrs. ago "oh what i would give",,,wellll, what exactly would that be ?! u def. give all of ur self in ur concerts !!,,,mind body and soul,,,and def. rock-n-roll!!
ur right about the gibson, i just have a few kramers now so i still think they are awsome. all those guitar companies were big then, jackson, charvelle, ibanez, kramer
Kip sings always very good live, sometimes better than in the studio. But in some other Winger live clips on youtube he takes him a little bit to serious. But here he is very cool.
Was this a solo show or when they opened for Deep Purple? In any case, I was there. They also played a killer show over at the IC Light tent with Kix and Badlands. That one kicked!
Lol “bass tickler”….funny you mentioned that, one of the vid directors would tell the band forget about “playing the parts correct” just “look cool.” I think that stayed with them in the live performance and they were one of the few acts that could actually do both.
Hair metal had some great guitarists. the trouble was the absolute crap mixed in with the good guitarists. You had to go to a live show, but when you did, the men were separated from the boys real fast as far as guitar goes. Paul Gilbert, Yngwie, Warren DeMartini, Reb.. ...and against them were guys like cc deville who got a lot of publicity and probably made a ton of money.
From what I've heard it's a Pacer model. I've searched high and low for a similar one. It really looks like a custom Focus 6000 without a slanted humbucker
People hate guitar solos because they can't play guitar themselves. Nirvana destroyed everything awesome about music. It became cool after to be a terrible guitar player. There are guitarists and solos today but something is missing. That magic is missing. There are no guitarist like the eighties anymore. No Steel Panther doesn't remind me of eighties style guitarists.
Michael Williams Of course because nowadays with youtube there are TONS of people playing as fast or faster and more complex stuff than Yngwie... All the innovation is long gone. I doubt music will ever feel and sound fresh and original as it was in the 80s.
Dig the Band, Love Kip, Love Rod the Drummer, and I know it was the 80's, but could have done without the self-indulgent guitar noodling and hammer-on's for first 3 minutes, after Kip introduced "seventeen". he should have just said, Reb will now play a Boring guitar solo, and shake his Poodle Do hair mane for you, while striking all 19 poses from the 80's Rock god guitar Op's Manual.! Lol other than that, dig this tune. p.s. sound on this Sucks. try searching other versions. there's better.
@UberKrispy ..no...all hair metal bands would like to send a T-1000 back in time to terminate all the grunge moms (Cobain, Vedder, Cornell) so hair metal could RULE FOREVER! (oh..and not be killed by '92)...

SEVERELY underrated guitar. Reb is one of the best from the 80's if not the best.
Warren demartini is a beast too
EVH?

You can't teach that kind of talent.
Say what you want... Reb Beach could play the guitar. OMG! He has always been one of my favorite guitarists.
I love Winger 🎸🇺🇸❤️ Reb Beach amazing guitar 🎸 player love you Reb Beach
The sum of the parts made this band. Unbelievable talent throughout.
I seen them in Anchorage Alaska in 89 and I still remember how amazing they where even after all these years!

Great guitar solo by Reb. He is very talented.
Wow Reb & Kip play in synchronicity. Amazing singing and moves!

This was actually from 1988 Winger was opening for Bad Company. The second time they played Syria Mosque was in 1991 with Deep Purple.

@mystereojones Thanks. Shot on a (heavy) professional-grade Sony CCD chip camera from way back in the last row of the theatre (thus the shake).
Still a very good video! Thanks for posting this 💗
These guys kicked such Major ASS back in the day.....wicked guitarist~~
This is fantastic!!
1:20 until 1:33 = Reb's best lick, by far!!! Very "80's flying to the sky" after hearing it!!!

jenniferlacex He has everything a frontman needs.....except the ability to sing in key.
My former Band Mate Paul Stanley can't sing anymore
are you the realy real Ace Frehley
Of course that's the real Ace Frehley. Legendary rock stars spend hours a day going around commenting on TH-cam videos. You know that!
If I was a rock star and didn't have a day job to hold down this is exactly how I would spend my time..
They sound great here. The 1st one was a decent album. Reb had some cool riffs and solos.
winger louco!!!
Reb and mine's hometown Sweet!!!
Reb is a kickass shredder
amazing...!!
Dude, I was there......They opened for Deep Purple. There was barley a crowd. Reb Beach is great. Wrong Band!!!!!!!!! Great show.

They actually opened for Bad Company (Brian Howe as replacement singer). Another poster said Deep Purple was the main act but but we interviewed both bands and shot one song from each band that night so I know for sure Bad company was the headliner.

A few of my Kramers have that neck and it rocks. Reb usually plays Suhr Guitars but I can’t afford a 4-6K axe.

Great musicians no doubt....but I still hate the head-mic. lol
Kip tells a story of when a kid in the crowd launched a loogie and it landed and clung to the mic on his headset...

the drummer is Rod Morganstien...better do a little look at him before you make stupid comments.
Does Kip Winger actually play bass or is his ax just for show?
Chef Danger I think he plays like 3 notes this entire video. By all accounts he's a fantastic bass player.
He plays the hell out of the bass: th-cam.com/video/-41WnqSF2hw/w-d-xo.html
He's gotta tease the broads out in the audience first.
There are a lot of open strings in that bass line. You'll notice that every time he takes his left hand off it's on one of those notes.
The song has open string notes, he only touches the frets when the song requires it.
@mystereojones Yes, I'm totallly agree with you, man.
Evh wants his solo back.
Tabs for the solo plz???
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH
KIP IS GREAT.GLAM IS GREAT

Oh Remember this concert, We crash through the side door just like we did ALL THE TIME.....

I like Reb's 80's hair better than his 00 hair. He kinda looks like Cousin It these days.
Looks like Sav from Def Leppard with that hair.
This show they opened for Bad Company.
I like Reb Beach's black KRAMER guitar....looks similar to mine.

Does Kip Winger play on that bass or just tickle it?
Lol “bass tickler”….funny you mentioned that, one of the vid directors would tell the band forget about “playing the parts correct” just “look cool.” I think that stayed with them in the live performance and they were one of the few acts that could actually do both.
Saw them last month. They play the instruments and still sound great. Nice bunch of guys too.
That guitarist is way to good for hair metal

Idont know why but Reb reminds me of Sav from Def Leppard same hairstyle and all. Except Sav plays bass.
I think you're jealous of his perfect teeth.
This is a great bootleg from back in the day. What's the story here. Are they headlining or they opening act for someone in this venue?
