Nice gg! If you continue playing the game I'd suggest trying out advanced edition content and betting it on easy before switching to harder difficulties.
Its difficult. Id advice trying boarding with the 4 man boarding ship and leaving 1enemy crew alive in the bossship(else the auto defenses activate) if you like the shooty game id say focus on lasers, beams and flak and maybe try to start with the zoltan cruiser
