    I love the “interpretatively” subtle wise-cracks at your brother-in-law.. I’m sure many can relate to those playful digs.

    Thanks for the comprehensive review, bruv! Best one on this product I've found yet. Quite influential.

    Great video, just picked up a pair and put them to the test in the Adirondacks. I really like these over my MSR Evo Ascents. The televator is much easier to use. I find the traction to be a bit better especially on the downhill. I love the bindings, much easier, more comfortable, and stable. I did not have to adjust them once over the whole trip. My two issues is getting a replacement binding, they are all or nothing, whereas the EVO Ascents are n+1 with their straps. I also question the longevity of the decking, the EVO molded plastic is nearly indestructible. See you outside!

    Thank you for your review. You sold me on these snowshoes. They are just perfect for my type of terrain. Fortunately, I will not be climbing sideways up any mountains here in Michigan (USA). When you look on a map, I am in the Michigan Thumb area.

    Thank you for posting this review! I’m trying to decide on my first pair of snowshoes mostly for hiking in upstate NY. I’m definitely considering these ones!

    Great video that presented the information I was interested in. Thank you!
    Can I ask what brand and ideally model of snowshoes your brother-in-law has? I am interested because I was intrigued by the information about better lateral grip than these MSR Lightning Ascent snowshoes. This is what I want, because my TSL 2,28 HIKE snowshoes are not very good at this, rather the opposite and I would like to get some other ones. Thank you.

      I asked my bro and he thinks it is TSL and I think so too. But... he was not at the home where the shoes are so he couldn't check with type....

    What size is the pair in the video?

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bornn, It's a male size 25. For my weight they are a bit on the large side but I chose to go for the middle model so I could get the 'middle' experience. Next to that I wanted some feedback from someone else too. Does this help? Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    The prices for these snowshoes seem extremely high to me. I personally would like to know how you would evaluate the models of Tubbs or TSL in comparison. Even the top models such as the Tubbs Flex VRT or the Symbioz Hyperflex Adjust from TSL seem to me with the BOA system of the binding even easier to handle. And are both even cheaper with additional features, only the lower weight of the MSR Lightning seems to offer a slight advantage. I would be curious to see a rating on the models mentioned as well. 😅
    Other than that, I love the video a lot. 👍

      Hi ThiemPlay, I do get your question but testing all of them... I would need to stay somewhere for two weeks at least to do a compression test. I would love to but I don't it is realistic. When I still worked for the leading outdoor magazine in The Netherlands we did a lot of this and I can tell from experience that I do like Tubbs and TSL too but I can't remember that I have seen the same packabillity and user comfort in a snowshoe. Let me chew on your remark and maybe try to organise a test for next year. I'll do my upmost best for this! Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
      ps. Boas... I have experienced freezing up of the system

      @@OutdoorguruGearReviews I didn't mean to upset you at all with my thoughts. The price of the snowshoes just scared me a little. I'm lucky enough to live on the edge of the Alps. I was just interested in your competent opinion. Here in the Allgäu region, the Tubbs brand seems to be particularly prevalent. However, I could also imagine that this popularity is reinforced by tour providers and equipment rentals, which could possibly also benefit from partnerships with certain manufacturers. So accordingly, this proliferation could be based more on marketing than actual quality. I was speculating on your personal experience rather than trying to persuade you to do a real comparison test. 😅

      I do like my LSL, but putting them on is difficult to the extent that I have to take off my gloves. The binding of the MSR appears to be much more convenient by comparison. However, traversing is occurring on almost every hike here in Switzerland, for which the LSL are great. So, also seen the price, which I find outrageous, I stick with my LSL for now.

    you know left and right because of the way the back strap comes off the respective sides. the buckles are always on the inside of your ankles

    Was it not possible to ski at this location too?

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews
      @OutdoorguruGearReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tarik, Yes it is. Val Lumnezia is a wonderful location for this too. But... I prefer snowshoes above skies for lot's of different reasons. One of them is that I am self employed and I love going down fast on skies but if anything goes wrong.... the consequences are too high for me. Snowshoes ar safer for me in this respect. 🤗 Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs

    • @OutdoorguruGearReviews

      Hi Robert, Well.. I have not seen and used them all but in the past I used some plastic TSL's that are way cheaper and did very well too. So maybe.... yes. Enjoy the Outdoors and Stay Safe! Cheers, Gijs
