Rajesh Khanna ruled rather the term SUPERSTAR INVENTED only for him in 1969 onwards and he was the highest paid Superstar from 1970 to 1987 whereas Amitabh shared the same tag during 1977-1987. Amitabh's films were mostly of cheapest taste and Rajesh's were most high standard films. So here question of replacement does not arise any way.

I had a neighbour some 15 years older than me who worked on a film set with RK and Prem Chopra. He used to tell us anecdotes about actors etc. I was around 16 at the time and was amazed to learn from him that RK was very arrogant, did not speak to my neighbour and other manual workers. However Prem Chopra was very friendly. I learned a lesson in those times, and that was not to believe what I saw on the screen, because that was only acting.

The interviewer should've asked Rajesh Khanna sahab about his experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan sahab and also a few anecdotes during the shooting of Anand, if he could remember. Instead he desperately tries to get a controversial statement from Rajesh Khanna sahab, although the great superstar showed his class.

During the shooting of Anand, Rajesh Khanna gave his opinion about Amitabh Bachchan - "Too tall. Voice too much deep and grave. And too thin. Plus due to his more than six feet abnormal, freaky stature, he looks more skinny. Face, especially cheeks, are broken. Nose is unnecessarily elongated. No softness in appearance, no slightest sign of romanticism in looks. Doesn't seem like he has a very bright✨🔆 future or any good possibility in this glamour world"
Kaka's observation proved wrong later. But perhaps Kaka can't be held guilty for that.
