I tried not to watch this for the longest time.... I just knew. I didn't want to hear it. I lost a dog to a similar circumstance as a child and it broke my heart. I'm so glad that Lobo found a young couple who can keep him exercised, entertained and busy. A good dog, is a tired dog!
As a former K9 handler, I used to get asked all the time if I was worried about my dog ever attacking my kids since his job was chasing down and biting criminals. In the 8 years as a police dog, he never once tried to hurt my kids. My daughter was 2 when I got him and then had twins 4 years later. That dog watched over the kids like it was his job. He would sleep next to their beds and cribs at night, come get me or my wife whenever they would be moving a lot or whining. He never barked at visitors. He would watch them and look at me for my reaction. If I greeted them, he walked away. If I would start asking questions to someone like a solicitor, he’d stand right there. Even at work, if a suspect took off running, he wouldn’t go until he was given the command. The whole police dog takedown is a game in their minds. They aren’t attacking anyone, they are doing what they were trained to do to get their tennis ball afterwards. These comment section dog experts that say hugging stresses the dog out and other incorrect statements, my kids hugged, laid on, the babies grabbed his tail, his face, his paws, and he could care less. Huskies are a very mouthy dog and do tend to bite a lot. I think Lobo had a huge work drive and just wasn’t right for a family oriented environment. He wanted to be Alpha. My dog was very aware that he was not dominate to any of the family and that was there for our protection on and off the clock. Intelligent beyond belief but not suited for all environments.
I completely agree with you! I've raised a lot of pups for service work and worked at breeder/trainer for years. We have a husky, and he's exceptional for a husky. But even him I would say never for a first time owner and definitely not if the first time owner has kids and no built in training support. They are amazing dogs but will test you and are very mouthy. And we've had all of our dogs actively seek hugs.
Yeah I agree, hugs calm my GSD down when he's upset or unsure. Also a gsd husky mix is a very powerful dog with conflicting characteristics, and drives, huskies being far more independent and domineering than a majority of GSDs.
@@periplanetamissionary I've noticed this too, with this particular mix. GSD defense drive doesn't mix well with husky energy and independence. The two breeds are so very different behaviorwise.
There are so many dogs out there, didn't take your time on what type you should of gotten thankfully Lobo is young enough to fine the right type of situation he needs
So sorry to hear about Lobo, but glad to hear Sophia is okay. As a dog trainer, I tried warning you with the video where he came back from "training"...wish I could have helped. =(
I hope Lobo finds happiness in his new home. I understand your decision, a nippy dog is not good to have around kids. I hope you don't give up on your hopes of having a dog, just check out different breeds. I hope Sophia doesn't stay scared of dogs, or blames herself for kneeling down on his foot. Hugs for Sophia she's such a sweetheart!!
Lobo had husky in him, they are notorious for mouth related playing, some research before buying the dog, would of told him that the dog wasn't suitable for a child based home unless trained 100% by the household, including the child, otherwise, the dog could think its playing and still bite its owner, as proved by me and zeus my husky constantly, we play fight, he bites zero people beyond me.
Sophia was the ONLY one that understood the situation with the dog. She knew 'she' made a mistake. Then You, Kenan made it worse by getting upset with a sleeping dog, who was awakened suddenly. Then A stranger, your sister, gets too close to the dog at the wrong time. She gets niped. All you can do is Blame the dog. This has bugged me all day. Kenan, Needs education in Fur pets behavior. I refuse to 'blow smoke up you butt' by telling you, Kenan, that You did a good job with the dog. You did very poorly in this situation. You should have Not gotten a Shepard mix. You should have gotten NO DOGS. As they all have teeth. Duh
See this is one thing that gets me as a dog owner, before buying a dog you should look into the breed and for someone who didn’t know much about dogs he went out and brought a mixed dog with two breeds that can be challenging training especially a husky type and now something has happened he’s got rid of it , this isnt a hate comment but so many people do this and so many dogs end being rehomed due to the fact they didn’t research the dogs needs and traits before going out and buy it , then when something happens then say “I don’t know why it done that or I should never have brought this dangerous dog into my home.husky needs a strong leader and can been known for biting especially when young , this is definitely setting a bad example, you can hate on this comment all you want but it’s the truth !
Nip training was one of the first and most important things we did with our dog. I would go out of my way to play with his mouth, to take his food and give it back, and if he nipped or got too crazy I would loudly shout "OW!" And the play would end, and I ignored him and wouldn't look at him. He learned quickly and now you could do nearly anything with him and he wouldn't bite. The only issue he has is with gloves. He doesn't fully see them as hands.
Glad Lobo has a good home. Sorry you lost your shadow, but being safe around the kids is your goal. The croc monitors are so raptor looking. Thanks for the video
Thank you for finding him a new home. When I was a kid, my dog bit me out of the blue while I was watching TV and my parents had him put down even though I cried and pleaded. It was an extremely traumatic experience and I felt guilty for years that they had killed him because he attacked me. Your daughter would surely have felt the same way if you had done the same thing, especially if she had accidentally knelt on his paw, so letting him live and rehoming him was the best decision for both her and, of course, the dog.
You did the right thing not only for your kids and family but for lobo!!! You're giving him another chance to find happiness and the right home for him where he can express his drive and his energy. It sucks but I'm glad this ended alright for everybody
Nah you failed that PUPPY by throwing him away as soon as he displayed undesirable traits. That dog didn't bite her face on purpose he bit it because it's just what happened to be there he reached out of pain, he's an animal and can't just suck it up like humans can and as far as biting your sister? You do know FEAR and CONFUSION are ALSO SYMPTOMS OF PAIN. Yes it's an unfortunate accident and 2 people got hurt in the same incident but it wasn't entirely out of the blue and definitely not for no reason. And I'm happy you cared enough to find him a new home instead of having him euthanized but I'm terribly disappointed you choose to take the easy route instead. You've been hurt by non-mamal animals in the past and didn't dump them on someone else because it's "in their nature" it's instinctual well the same needs to go for the dog he REacted instinctually to something that caused him pain and should have been granted more grace from you. Also you admit she really actually needed stitches even if it was only one. Which leads me to believe that she wasn't taken to the hospital AFTER BEING BITTEN IN THE FACE. Why?? Also you want to follow all the rules and regulations for all these reptiles what about the dog bite laws Did the dog undergo a rabies quarantine? Was the bite reported to the proper authorities? Where are the answers to these questions?
Sad decision, but probably the best one for everyone. I had concerns with that choice of breed as a first dog. There are levels to dog care, same as reptiles! So glad Sophia and your sister are okay, and Lobo will be so happy with a young active couple!
Yeah, it's kinda baffling to me how Kenan didn't understand that. A beginner with reptiles is not gonna get Croc Monitors as a pet, so why did he as a beginner with dogs get a Husky-Shepherd mix? Doesn't make sense. It is indeed a beautiful breed, but it's not a breed for beginners and there were countless better choices. Sadly Sophia now is left with a traumatic experience and the family might not get another dog ever. Just sad to see.
You definitely made the right decision about Lobo. I'm gonna miss seeing him in videos though, he was such a cool dog! But like you said, family and children come first. I hope Lobo is happy with his new family, and I'm happy Sophia is okay, and hope she recovers from this trauma.
I am so sorry for your family. I’m glad Sophia is okay and LoBo has found a new home. My oldest daughter was bitten in the face by my in-laws dog (cocker spaniel). I’m so glad that she was never scared of dogs after that and she is now a vet tech. It’s very heartbreaking but you did the right thing in finding a new home.German Shepherds are one of the top breeds known to bite. I don’t know about Huskies. I believe any dog can bite and I raised my dogs around children, I never let my kids or grandchildren to hug my dogs, don’t put your face in front of dogs, and now I have dogs that aren’t around kids all the time and I don’t let my grandchildren run up to the dogs and I’m one that believes no dog should be left alone with a small child.
Aww sadly kinda saw the Lobo situation coming. That breed mix can be a challenge even for experienced dog owners. My aunt’s shepherd has the same issue with children. I believe it’s a herding type instinct, as herders often will “nip” to keep their target in line.
Maybe, but shepherds are generally quite loving and protective towards their family, and tend to easily become obedient with proper training. I think the husky part is more problematic, as they're more energetic and less social and trainable.
As an EXTREME dog lover who has had dogs all my life, I am really sorry this happened but you made the right decision & I think you know that!! I am also so sorry for your loss, 6 months might seem nothing to some people but you would be surprised how fast you get attached. Sophia will come around, when you love animals as much as she does, she will be just fine she just needs time. Kenan I am so sorry for family!!
You definitely made the right decision. Thank you for being a responsible dog owner. I know it was a tough thing to let Lobo go to a new home, but it was the best thing for everyone.
Tough decision but the right one. And Lobo has a great new home. You invested a lot into Lobo and you did the best for him. 🐾 ❤ Glad Sophia and your sister are ok.
I'm so glad Sophia is ok! I'm sorry that your family has to go through this. I know how difficult that decision is to make. You should contact Robert Cabral before you get another dog. He's an amazing dog behaviourist/trainer.
@@tyleroptional2639 I think having a dog in this environment makes since. In my opinion I just believe he got the wrong dog breed for what he needed. He had little time to train it, and he gets one of the most hard to train breeds out there. Plus he's a newcomer to the dog scene. He should think alot more about the breed his lifestyle would work with. Rather than having a dog that looks like a wolf. I'm glad he understood that this was not the best environment and gave the dog to someone that could give it to him.
@@obamacares8386 GSD's x Sibe was litraly the worse choose to make in my opnion for a new dog owner, GSD's are loyal and hard working and willing to do anything for there owner. Sibe's on the other hand are stubborn and hard to train if you you dont have the time or resources for them. Hopefully if he gets another dog it will be something that is just got for the looks.
@@DaKayH I don't think hugging should be seen as acceptable when it comes to dogs. Dogs often don't like hugging they will offer calming signals like licking and so on when children hug them. Hugging for a dog is aversive, they are not human. They do not understand hugging in the same ways we do.
Wow thanks for sharing. I totally understand. People are more important than animals. I love all my animals, turtles, bird & a precious dog, but when a loved one is hurting I run to help them.
Labs n retrievers are the most well behaved and easy for just about anyone to raise. Huskies can be a finicky breed, they come with attitude and obsessiveness. Glad Sophia is ok and Lobo too.
I'm glad everyone is ok, and that you guys didn't hesitate to make the hard but correct decision. Dogs are wonderful, but not every dog is a great fit for a family. My suggestion if you guys decide to search for another dog, don't focus on it being a guard dog. What you really want is an alert dog, one that will make lots of noise when they hear something amiss, and alert you to things going on. Most breeds will do this well, so focus on a dog that fits in well with a family lifestyle, and that will do well in your environment. Huskies and GSDs are two of the breeds with the highest % of wolf in them, and are more high energy and high strung. Great dogs for what they were bred for, but not always a great fit for a family. Thanks for making the video sharing with us what happened, I know that only made it harder having to address it to your community, and I'm sorry for your family's loss. Still not easy even knowing he's in a good home that fits him better.
The situation with Lobo seemed to be full of issues from the start. The issues were not Lobo's making. Lobo will be better off than being housed in a no-win situation.
this almost became a very interesting comment, my pet cockatoo decided she needed to 'help' my write this and I had to change screens before she posted something bizzare. I'm sorry to hear about Lobo but I think you have made the right call given the situation that has happened. Family definitely has to come first. He's a beautiful animal and would probably be an amazing working dog, but just not quite right for the family setting- some dogs aren't. And thats nothing against big dogs, I love dogs and so called 'agressive breeds' can be wonderful with kids- and each dog is different with its own personality and temperament regardless of breed or size. Breeding is only one part of the equation when it comes to how they behave but unfortunately for Lobo maybe its part of his equation- coz there would definitely be no lack of love and training in the Kamp Kenan household! I'm glad you have found him a good new family and hopefully its the perfect home for him. We will miss him though, he is a beautiful boy! I'm glad Sophia is alright, and I hope it doesnt traumatise her too much. Is Petey good with kids? Hopefully a friendly dog she is familiar with will help heal that trauma and regain the trust. Those croc monitors are amazing, Chase is so gorgeous! They have such a raptor dinosaur looking face imo! Look forward to seeing more of them
It's always the dogs fault. Teach your children how to be around animals. Are you going to get 'RID' of the reptiles when she gets bit by one of them? Try teaching them about how to Not get bit by an animal. Because Animals Bite. You DON"T just get rid of them.
I'm so sorry to hear about Lobo, I can totally understand your decision we had a very similar situation with a pointer we used to own, he had no bitey streak at all, but suddenly one day he attacked by partner, and then tried to stop me getting to her, at the time my partner thought she had woken him suddenly from a nightmare so we gave him a second chance. Sadly a year later on Christmas day he did it again, he suddenly lunged at my partner again and it took three adults to pull him off and my partner ended up in hosital having surgery on her hand. I had to take the hardest decision that day to have him put to sleep, but we just couldn't take the risk he would do it again to someone else, and the Vet believed that as he was a rescue it might have been a form of ptsd, or a form of brain issue. I'm sure Lobo will have a great life, and I hope Sophia keep loving animals as she does.
Super happy you have tree crocs again. Can't wait to see you build trust and relations with them, female in with Chase is going to make you work for her affection. Tough situation with Lobo, there's no right decision, but you're the family protector so you and Kate can make the tough decisions to keep everyone including yourself safe. 8 years ago I had to make a similar decision, my rednose pitbull Kaine, my absolute favorite dog ever, was great for me when I was single and living on my own, once I got married and kids, he wasn't having it... decisions were made and life goes on, but I think of him every day still. I miss that dam dog so much but my role as protector always comes 1st. No matter how I feel.
@@abcxyz53 lol Yeah, and while we are at it, put down dangerous humans. Just look at the crime stats.. Doesn't sound so good when you apply it that way, does it?
@@abcxyz53 Btw., my best friend has a pitbull. Sweetest dog I've ever knows. And before you go like "blubblub, just wait until she bites you!1!!", the male pitbull they had before didn't hurt a fly in his 13 years of life and was also a total cuddle bug.
I'm sorry to hear about Lobo. You've got the passion to show that all animals are beautiful. I'm currently having to see my 8 year old cocker spaniel mix deteriorate in front of me from lymphoma. It's extremely tough to deal with this. And at the same time I'm seeing my dad deteriorate from colon to stomach cancer. He lives in new England while I live in Colorado. F this year. It can take a hike.
Of course this was a tough decision for you all, but your families safety comes first and lobo is happy and you chose the perfect home for him. Its so sad but you did what a responsible pet owner does and should do. Love to you all and sophia will be fine, she has a beautiful soul and loves animals so much, i dont think she will have the fear for very long x
I am glad Lobo found a good home and that your kids are safe. You always have to put the people first. I have a breed that is a total baby (King Charles Cavalier) he is littlerally my therapy dog. I was so depressed for a long time I didn't like getting up out of bed all day, he changed that BUT if he ever bit a child I would have to ensure he could never be around children again. I am sad for you, it is hard to say good bye when we have to to our buds!
I am so about Lobo and I am glad Sofia and your sister is ok you can have Sofia volunteer at animal shelters I hope in the future you guys find a great family dog
I’m so very sorry that this happened, I can’t imagine how heartbroken yourself and Kate must be, I know the kids loved him dearly and what a shock! I agree wholeheartedly with your and Kates decision, please give Sophia a big hug and kiss from your campers. We love your family so much and your safety is also our priority ❤
Hopefully Lobo will do better in a new environment. I am a retired dog trainer/vet tech. One of our Boston Terriers, Frankie, came to us because he bit a 6 year old in the face, that required stitches (the child tried to yank him off a bed by his rear legs). They were going to euthanize him but we took him instead. Frankie is a wonderful, loving dog. Just in a bad situation. He has a high prey drive and when excited, he tends to nip. I have worked with him, teaching him "no bites", and "settle". He is now able to control his impulses and does very well, even with small children. Some dogs just need the right environment to thrive. I hope this will be the case with Lobo too. I'm glad you found him a new home instead of euthanizing him. You have to do what is right for you and your family but giving him a second chance is great!❤
I’ll admit that I was worried when you got Lobo…..he’s a combo of two working/frequently high prey drive breeds and while y’all are active, I was worried it wouldn’t be enough. I worked with many pups that were sadly dumped at that shelter for reasons similar to what happened w/ Sophie(which I commend you for doing the best thing for your family & Lobo by finding him an appropriate home❤️). Both breeds in Lobo need an extensive amount of daily mental stimulation and physical exercise, but specifically the husky side is known to be mouthy especially when bored. They can be great family dogs for those families whose lives revolve around things like sledding, etc or for those with hobbies like distance running where the pup gets hours of physical exertion daily. I know it must have really scared Sophie but in the overall picture I’d rather it have been this….than something worse. It was obvious that you and your entire family loved Lobo, you did everything you could think of to insure he was happy, healthy & well-trained….it just wasn’t meant to be. I know you are not wanting another dog right now because your heart is hurting and Sophie is scared, may I suggest reaching out to friends to find a few great breeders of L/XL breed dogs that may make a great fit for your family (like Caucasian Shepherds, Irish Wolfhounds, Labradoodles, Bull Mastiffs, etc)and see if they will let you bring Sophie to spend an hour or two just being around the dogs(not forcing interaction but just letting them exist in the same general area and let her watch you/your wife interacting)…..eventually the pups will win her back over. That’s also why I mentioned finding great breeders, their dogs will be well-trained and sound to be around Sophie (it may also help both you and Kate get over what you witnessed). Even assuring Sophie that you have no plans to get another dog but are just going to visit friends, will help to insure she doesn’t go in to the situation without any anxiety. Doing so will also give you an opportunity to note the traits you’d like for your family if you ever decide to get another…..while Lobo wasn’t the right fit, there is a breed out there that would be perfect for exactly what you need(protecting the Kamp while also being a good family dog & faithful friend)…..that’s another reason to get familiar with the breeders, while traits are common with specific breeds….just like people, pups have different personalities and a great breeder will ask enough questions to figure out the best fit for your family❤️
Thank you for putting your children FIRST and FOREMOST! Family must always come first in a dangerous situation if there are other potential housing opportunities! Thank you for ensuring Lobo went to a new hone where he is better suited and there are no children. Thank God that everyone will be okay and nobody was hurt in a way that left permanent damage or required hospitalization. I’m a dog person and I can tell you that some dogs just aren’t suited for housing around children, and working dog breeds are about three times as likely to fall into that category. Lobo will have a better safer furever home this way, and the kids are safer thus way. Tough decisions are not fun, but they are necessary in the situation you found your family in. Best wishes to all and thank you for sharing the story and setting a good example for all! 🤔🥲😔🙏🏻❤️😇🙌🦎🐢🐊🤷♂️
Man that’s heartbreaking. Glad Sophia is okay. Sad that Lobo won’t be part of the channel anymore. If I could make a suggestion, if you decide to get another dog, I’d suggest a lab. But I’m really sorry for this new Kenan.
I would recommend labs to anyone. I grew up with labs and can confirm ours always had a very gentle disposition. Puppies are puppies, and they can still be wild as youngins, but ours were never aggressive at all, just very energetic until they hit 3 or so. Also crazy smart.
You made the right decision Kenan, Lobo isn’t a bad dog, he’s just not the right dog for you and your family at this time- you did the responsible thing and found him a home that’s a good fit for him and his needs straight away when you identified your home wasn’t the right fit
I'm glad Sophia is ok! Sounds like Lobo had an unstable genetic temperament which isn't surprising considering the two breeds he is, they're not complementary at all. And cross/mix breed dogs temperaments will always be a gamble. As a trainer and owner myself, that's never a mix I'd advise getting for a family. I'm glad you did what was best not just for you and family but for Lobo too. I know it's not easy, I've seen it in my clients often enough. You're a strong person for accepting it needed to be done. Much respect to you Kenan. Perhaps, in the future when you are ready for a dog, maybe consider purchasing a fully trained home/property protection dog that's purebred, I highly recommend a German Shepherd or Rottweiler, yes they are pricey but I can tell you they are beyond worth it. Well bred, well trained dogs are indispensable!
That is one of the reasons that selecting the correct dog is important. It was a good decision to look for a new home for Lobo, but the original idea of having this kind of dog in this case was the wrong one.
@@jorgeseda3311 they could’ve gotten one of this dogs siblings with a completely different temperament. At the end of the day some dogs no matter the breed are more prone to biting and there’s no real solid way to predict it
Sorry to hear about Lobo and your Sophia. I too was bit by the family dog as a kid and was for many years skittish around big dogs. I finally was introduced to some well trained n behaved big dogs that helped me get over that fear. Good luck to you all and to Lobo with his new family.
Sorry to hear that - I’m glad Sophia is ok I could only imagine how hard of a decision that was to make but nonetheless you made the right on and i applaud you for it !! Love and respect to you and your family!!
I'm sorry to hear about what happened to Sophia. I know as such a animal lover that she is this is bound to be hard on her. I think you have the right idea about letting her meet other dogs to help with the trauma of the event. I'm so glad you chose to find Lobo a new home and made sure he took to them rather then just dropping him off at the pound where it would of been harder for him to find a home with a bite history. You did the right thing by your family and Lobo which is commendable. Your one of my favorite animal persons because you truly care about them and what they need not just what you want. Hugs to Sophia and all of you.
I highly highly recommend a Great Pyrenees for your family and reptiles to be friends with but barks very loudly at strangers without attacking. Big big hugs to Sophia. I was once terribly bitten over a misunderstanding with my own dog also
You made the right decision rehoming a dog you can’t trust around your children. It’s a super difficult decision and I support you 100%! I myself am a dog grooming and see people keep dogs that are not right for their family or lifestyle. Everyone suffers in that scenario. May Lobo thrive in his new home and become safe and balance dog. ❤
The croc monitors are so gorgeous and they have that intelligent alert dino look about them. I love them already and I bet you will be able to befriend them quite fast. They already seem so tame and used to humans. :)
Some dogs just don’t handle anxious situations or children ya know!! Obviously you made the right decision and Lobo will probably be better off too!! So glad Sophia is ok and Lobo too!!
Kenan, with all due respect you are not ready for dogs. Another thing: I saw many people saying that K9 training is great and etc. IT IS IF YOU WANT A GUARD DOG! A family dog doesn’t need this, a dog to be around family needs socialization and hard work from the owners, not from a trainer that stays 3 weeks with a dog in terrible conditions. Terrible decision to get the dog without being prepared, and even worst to not give him a second chance. Very disappointing!
I'm glad Sophie's okay my daughter when she was 3 got bit by my sister-in-law's dog. It left a three inch scar on her cheek. She was skittish around dogs but I took her to PetSmart where she can look at the dogs through the cages and be safe. Then on one trip to Petsmart to look at the dogs. We saw a cocker spaniel dachshund mix or a little cocktail weenie we both fell in love with her. When my husband saw her he fell in love with her. At first my daughter was skiddish around Trixie but she soon got over her fear of dogs and today she owns a pitbull named Duke.🤗🐕
Dogs do not do well with hugs! Especially big dogs. Lobo was probably in his mode, and when Sophia kneed down on his foot it spook him and that's their first instincts to do is bite. Then Lobo being stressed as Kate was right there, the sister there, Lobo didn't know what she was doing he was just stressed! The reality is anything with a mouth can bite!
Good decision to send him with a new owner with similar breeds instead of putting him down. I appreciate the fact that he's getting a second chance. It's unfortunate it happened to both of them but you made the right choice . Hopefully everyone moves on in a positive way
Golden labrador retrievers are big goofy marshmallows in a dog suit. They are great protectors. That way Sophie can have a big dog that is super gentle. 🐶 And if it's a boy you can name him Fred and you and Fred could be out there running around with the alligators. Lizards and monitors.
Not the dogs fault, owners need to understand dogs of that breed need leadership and boundaries, if you never give him the right corrections when he was a puppy this is the result.
@@jacobhoward7288 with Lobo being a shepherd/husky mix, very firm boundaries and training with an experienced trainer should start from day 1 that the dog is at home. Board and trains can be great and it seems like Lobo did very well there, but working with a trainer should have started much earlier. Kenan and Kate tried hard, but training can be hard too, especially if you don't have a lot of experience.
Kenan I’m sorry to hear about Sophia, your sister and Lobo. You did the right thing, no judgement. I am so glad to hear that Sophia is ok and your sister are ok.
You’ve got the security dialed on your property now so I think “dog-less” is the way to go. Not a hard decision when it comes to the reason but definitely a hard decision when it comes to your love for Lobo. I could forgive the first bite as being startled or hurt but the second one…nope. Protecting your family…you did the right thing. The Croc Monitors are exquisite. And anyone who thinks your kids are with your reptiles alone, haven’t been watching your channel. Much love!🦎❤️🦎
That really socks but I'm happy Sophia is OK & that Lobo is in a good home where you can probably still go see him. He will also have siblings to play with now that are probably as rough & hyper as him so he'll most likely have a ball. I'm so sorry that this happened because I'm sure it was hard for all of you especially Sophia. Everyone could tell she loved that dog, all of yall did. Praying for yall to get through this hard time. God Bless!🙏
OMG i feel for you!!! But end of the day family always first but weird how quick lobo changed from what we seen. But please dont give up on dogs imo fur babies make a family grow together its just finding the right breed. I lost my shadow (fur baby) recently and will miss her like crazy but some dogs are just dogs and human's seem to forget that!! Keep you and your family safe until next time!!
Sorry about what happened. Hope Sophia is well and wont lose her love for dogs. This is what happens when people who dont know about dogs get dogs depending on looks and dont follow through with being consequent in the training and everyday life. Also the kids need to be trained. A sleeping dog on his place has to be left alone by the kids and many dogs dont like to be hugged. There are dogs who tolerate everything, but thats not the rule. I hope Lobo will be happy in his new place. Please dont get another one.
I got bit in the face when I was 14 got 18 stitches and had nightmares for 2 years man I understand why you did what you did and I feel from experience getting her around bigger dogs soon is a good thing to help her fear. wish yall the best
You made the right decision. I am a huge dog lover. Lobo just needs a different environment to live and play. Praying for Sophia to recover on the outside and the inside.
You absolutely did the right thing! After such an incident Lobo just can’t be trusted around kids. And I have to be honest: mixing two intense breeds like a shepherd and a husky together creates some intense dogs. So I wouldn’t go for that same mix again knowing that Sofia is kind of traumatized. Take a break from dogs, work with Sofia to get over her fear, and when the time is right maybe get a dog again.
No he should just stick to reptiles and things he knows. This is why shelters are full of animals. Because people with no experience in that certain animal or breed get them and things go wrong in many different ways. You don't just go try and get another "family friendly breed"
Kids do come first. With that said I taught all puppies that I have had over the yrs NO BITE from day one, they could bite their bones, and toys all they wanted but never us. I am happy to say I have been very lucky and only had to get rid of 1 dog because he was to protective of his kid. I wish u all the best. Don’t give up on having a dog because no matter the breed there is good dogs that will not bite
Same thing happened with my kids and my dog. My son went down to hug the dog who was sleeping on the floor and at the time my dog had an ear infection. When my son hugged her he kind of grabbed her ear and the dog turned around and bit his nose and he was bleeding so much! I was shocked and wanted to freak out but I held it together and addressed the wound. I still have the dog but I just don’t let them get all up in her face anymore and of course we treated her ear infection. This was 2 years ago and the dog hasn’t shown any aggression since that day.
A heartbreaking decision, yet completely understandable. My husband and I are actually on the other side of the same situation. We recently took in our dog's littermate (his brother) because his dad moved in with his fiance and her two daughters and it was just too chaotic an environment for him with lots of people constantly coming and going. One of the girls came racing in the house after school and he was startled and bit her. It wasn't his first offense either as he had always had some fear aggression, but a line had to be drawn with a child involved. So now he lives with us, where it's just a lot quiter and better for his disposition.
there was a young lady who adopted a atlian shepard puppy(cute little ball of fur) from an animal shelter right up the road from where I used to live. Now from my understanding the shelter is suppose to psych evals on all incoming or out coming animals: I don't know nor can I confirm this happened. but what I do know if that this breed is feed aggressive(to a degree🙄) she left her baby, near it's feed bowl(big mistake on her part) baby placed her hand inside of it while the puppy was eating. the puppy bite the baby's face. she took the baby to the hospital, and by the blessing of God the baby didn't need emergency surgery. the mother brought the report back the shelter, however she didn't say that left the baby unattended she just said the puppy attacked her baby, unprovoked. the case worked, unamused 😒but bewildered 😱by the accident took the puppy back, scheduled it to be euthanized. I called up a friend of mine and had the puppy adopted right out, the mother didn't like that.. she screamed and said the dog will attack babies. I'm like this breed if you read and were informed that has high protective, and feeding drives(of course it will attack while feeding) again if you read the documents before signing the adoption papers. she got another puppy, but she was still mad that other one didn't get euthanized..
@@maryvallas772 my thoughts, and kenan did the right thing to give the dog to friend who knew more about the breed etc, and lobo took a liking to them instantly!!
Glad your family is ok and hey i hope that the experience with lobo doesnt sway you from opening your home to a dog in the future dogs are like people some just never fit no matter how much you love them
kanan, i would encourage you to read the book of "DON'T SHOOT THE DOG!" by Karen Pryor. Lobo might not be that kind of dog to be around children, but the book will help you comprehend what you can do so the next dog might not turn out to be a danger for the family. Plus many things in that book apply also for reptilian training. Which will be amazing to watch videos of you training the reptiles as well
That really is a great book along with "The other end of the leash" from Patricia McConnel, they help you to see problems from the dogs perspective. I hope he'll go the more positive route with his next dog and won't send him to a "balanced" trainer in the dogs most important socialization phase...
alot of ppl don't understand that when u bring a dog or any animal into ur home. u need to understand that animals behavior. dogs r pack animals. imagine u c a pack a wolves. one is laying down and the other comes up messing with it. what does the first dog do? turns and snaps or will bite it's pack mate. dogs have there fur to protect them. ppl do not. so when we get bite in an instant like that. the dog isn't trying to mean. it's just saying to back off. they can't talk to tell u they might not feel good or r just having a bad day. this wasn't hate. just trying to b helpful for future dog owners
Hey Kenan 🌻 I really hope Sofia is feeling better and healing well. I'm so sorry this happened:( This may help her: When I was 8 yrs old, I was bitten in the face by a dog (it healed great. Small scars but im good). I was really scared of dogs for awhile. Any dog that barked, scared me. Even tiny chihuahuas!! Lol But I did get over it. 💗 It took time and patience, but it happened 😊 I love all animals... well, 4 legs or less 🤣 And realized I didn't want to be afraid of something that I love. So I learned to accept that anything with a mouth can bite and it's not the animals fault. Sometimes, it's just life and things go wrong. Sofia loves animals lol and my best hopes are that living on the farm means she's already learning that fear has no place in her life cuz she wants to help look after the animals more, as best she can 💗🐾 All my love and best wishes to you and your family.
I read quite a few comments: kids safety wins. There may be another dog out there for you - that'll be your decision. This time not right off of a robbery. My heart goes out to Sophia and Leo. Giving your love to an animal and then to have it attack you. Please do get Sophia "back on the horse" so this doesn't affect her the rest of her life. You and Kate are amazing parents and only want what's best for your family.
That is a very tough decision but very understandable and definitely the right one! When you decide in the future to get another dog I would look into Golden retriever or yellow lab for a larger dog or something like an Aussie for a smaller breed that does great with animals. My personal opinion you can't go wrong with Golden retrievers they are great and train really well. So thankful she is ok and he didn't cause any more damage.
We have 6 huskies and none of them ever bit anybody. We also have 2 small cats and they're so good with them. They even play nicely with my aunts 2lb dog. Maybe the shepherd genes influenced a little bit of biting as shepherd do tend to chase and nip to get animals to move.
Sophie was the only one that Knew the mistake that was made with the sleeping dog. What a way to teach children about pet responsibility by getting rid of the dog when an accident happens. Poor parenting.
A lot of people will say that "you just need to work with lobo more" or "you trained him wrong". The problem is, that involves keeping him around the child whose face he bit, and a chance of similar events happening in the interim until the behaviour is correct, if ever. Sometimes it's just not worth it, like Kenan said, happens to another kid next week and camp goes bye bye, not fair on Sophia either. I think there's plenty of better choices of dog down the line too, look at say a doberman from a non-working line, sure to scare away the bravest of intruder, but also the most genuine and intelligent couch lounging family dog.
Any dog that shows any type of aggression you should never have around people or kids they don't know. You dropped the ball and I believe if you knew he could be aggressive and was aggressive when you first got him I believe its your fault for letting him be around strangers. Dogs are territorial and will bite when you come into there territory.
100% right decisions to get him away from the kids and it’s great you found him someplace he could live out his life and not be put down Hope his new family can give him the personal attention he needs possibly
That doesn’t sound like a aggressive dog it was sat on nobody likes to be sat on.Chandler got bit by alligator and took those things home should of gave the dog another chance. Just a lesson to be learned god bless
Kenan, you made the right decision. Lobo is a great dog. Dogs rock! But biting kids is a no go! Family is first! Love all the content and the croc-monitors are awesome.
I made the mistake years ago that i put the cat tree beside the couch. My Cat Carrot scared my other cat Mr J (at the time a 20 pound tabby) and he jumped to the tree and instead hit my face! It bled like crazy! But the important thing was I had to comfort the cat because he was so upset for 3 days that he hurt me and would not come near me. He is my cuddle buddy, so I get how Sophia feels with anything around the face or quick actions. Bless her little heart and I hope she can work through the trauma and be good with doggies. Cause dogs are awesome! Im glad Lobo has a good home and everything altho tough, worked out for the best
Gonna be honest. I love this channel. I love everything you do. I blame you for her getting bit and I blame you for not knowing and training your dog better. I blame you for getting a dog that “looks cool” instead of something that’s a good fit. And I blame all of you for not making him take accountability for this.
Love Kenan n the chan, but he said he wasn't a dog person long ago. I was hoping he would not get a dog bc of that, tho he did.. No bond, dog went for training at facility without fam weeks..home is diff n the dog owners (fam) needs the training at that point not other way around.. in vids training was not contined once home..no time or consistency following /what trainer showed..a command is just that u can't add other words to it then expect dog to understand..dog was hurt n asleep when it happened. expected any dog could have reaction in that circumstance, did not continue a real attack says it all. The dog is still a puppy, part of training still.. No wanted dog in 1st place n see how much work needs dog requires n regrets getting dog.. good excuse to get rid the dog now, which would have happened eventually..glad Lobo has a new home, chance to feel love/bonded/feel he has a place n a pack . nippy or unsafe is prob bs cop-out tho its better for dog and the fam this way, so better for all..Just hope will not get another dog bc it b same
Thank god everyone is alright its a shame because any animal you let into your life you have to see as family weather it be a dog cat lizard or even a fish In a tank I'm glad to hear you didn't put him down and belive in a second chance no matter what everyone or thing deserves a second chance. Keep up the hard work and love the videos
I think Sofia accidentally hurt him and he freaked out and his instincts kicked in
I tried not to watch this for the longest time....
Absolutely agree. Our Staffordshire bull terrier was best friends with our foster son, he actually learned to walk holding on to her fur.
You must have a Belgian Malinois 😉 bc I do too lol. What he said ^ to the T!
If it bit before it will bite again trained behave. The dog is upset it left its home to be trained came back and bit a child that is crazy.
Duh
@@DaKayH I guess you’re an expert and never ever choose the wrong pet by mistake. I bet you were born just knowing it all.
Hahahah Debra Hall, I clearly hope you never own a dog in your life with that pathetic statement.
Thankful Sophia is OK! and equally happy you found a home that is more suited to lobo... And you have some bonus food for the lizards...
Glad that Sophia and Lobo are both doing good.
I hope Lobo found his forever home with those new people...
I’m sorry Kenan , I’m just glad Sophia is ok and that Lobo has a good home so quickly ❤
My own GSD was so loving to me when I was a little girl. Two of my neighbors’ had mean, aggressive GSDs that terrified me.
U made the right choice kenan. You're a lizard guy. And a busy guy. Lobo would be full time work. Most dogs are. Xx
🐾 ❤
Glad Sophia and your sister are ok.
I'm so glad Sophia is ok! I'm sorry that your family has to go through this. I know how difficult that decision is to make. You should contact Robert Cabral before you get another dog. He's an amazing dog behaviourist/trainer.
He should not get another dog. Seriously
What are you teaching these kids? That you can just get rid of an animal. When you can't understand How to teach your children about animals
@@obamacares8386
GSD's x Sibe was litraly the worse choose to make in my opnion for a new dog owner, GSD's are loyal and hard working and willing to do anything for there owner.
Look forward to seeing more of them
I refuse to 'blow smoke up you butt' by telling you, Kenan, that You did a good job with the dog.
You did the right thing ! Don't second guess yourself or be bothered by criticism, it's your life, you make the choices!
Tree Crocs……love that!
Yeah, it's hard to bring in kids after the dog when he has been the baby of the family for so long and with those powerful breeds it can be dangerous.
I'm glad everyone is okay, good on you for sharing the story honestly and not making something up. Hope you all heal soon 💙
Step daughter I was thinking those where your biological kids you treat them as such wish there where more people like you ❤
I am so about Lobo and I am glad Sofia and your sister is ok you can have Sofia volunteer at animal shelters I hope in the future you guys find a great family dog
Seems like you got a dog without doing any proper research in getting one, such a shame.
I would have suggested a livestock guardian breed. Aloof, protective, chill, mostly live outside and will naturally protect your animals.
Glad everyone is ok! A very tough and smart decision.
I second this reply so whole heartily. The children should always come first.
@D The couple he gave Lobo to doesn't have kids.
You did the right thing. I'm glad he got a home. The alternative would have been worse. I'm glad Sophia's fine.
Sorry to hear that - I’m glad Sophia is ok I could only imagine how hard of a decision that was to make but nonetheless you made the right on and i applaud you for it !! Love and respect to you and your family!!
I’m so glad Sophia is ok and lobo has a new home. No one can fault your decision to protect your family. Much love to all of you
Such sad news about Lobo. Glad everyone is fine. I'm sure Lobo has gone to a good place for him.
He went to a professional trainer not to long ago.
I know was hard a decision, but you did the right thing. You have to protect your family.
I'm glad everyone is ok, but I am happy that Lobo is ok, too. I was a Lobo fan.
Me too. 😢
Sorry to hear about Lobo. Glad to hear that Sofia and your sister are ok!
Not just around kids. He said he bit him before and he also bit his sister after the incident with Sophie for no immediate reason.
I think you made the right choice with Lobo. Sorry for your loss.
What a tough decision to have to make. Good luck Lobo. I hope you don't give up on having a dog. Just a more family friendly breed?
No he should just stick to reptiles and things he knows. This is why shelters are full of animals. Because people with no experience in that certain animal or breed get them and things go wrong in many different ways. You don't just go try and get another "family friendly breed"
@@SpecialED-mc6cg Yeah dogs suck, get a cat.
@@Psychocobrabilly cats suck too. But I've had both my whole life.
@@SpecialED-mc6cg yeah same, i have a standard poodle rn and she is the smartest dog ive known.
@@Psychocobrabilly a family member has a golden doodle and it's super smart. I had a lab that was really smart too
Kids do come first.
You made the right decision. Not all breeds or dogs do well in all situations. And Lobo has a great new home.
@@jebVlogs556 that's evil. I'm glad the child is OK, but to condemn a puppy to death instead of just keeping it away from babies is stupid.
@D only if you rehome it to the wrong people.
@@snekysneks yes I agree evil like Really 🤨
@@maryvallas772 my thoughts, and kenan did the right thing to give the dog to friend who knew more about the breed etc, and lobo took a liking to them instantly!!
So sorry about Lobo Kenan, glad Sofia is ok. I think you made the right decision! You would never have been able to trust Lobo anymore
Glad your family is ok and hey i hope that the experience with lobo doesnt sway you from opening your home to a dog in the future dogs are like people some just never fit no matter how much you love them
You did the right thing 100%, I know it's hard but the kids safety has to come first. Love to Sophia 💕
kanan, i would encourage you to read the book of "DON'T SHOOT THE DOG!" by Karen Pryor.
@@Themagicunitato There is nothing wrong with balanced training, when done properly.
alot of ppl don't understand that when u bring a dog or any animal into ur home. u need to understand that animals behavior. dogs r pack animals. imagine u c a pack a wolves. one is laying down and the other comes up messing with it. what does the first dog do? turns and snaps or will bite it's pack mate. dogs have there fur to protect them. ppl do not. so when we get bite in an instant like that. the dog isn't trying to mean. it's just saying to back off. they can't talk to tell u they might not feel good or r just having a bad day. this wasn't hate. just trying to b helpful for future dog owners
Rotties too. Or german shep (non mixed) those dogs are big ol babies
I used to breed Dobes and you’re correct! Very protective of family and property but one of the best dogs when it comes to kids.
You made the right decision. Lobo has a new dog loving family. Maybe along the way, you’ll get a family dog.
Any dog that shows any type of aggression you should never have around people or kids they don't know. You dropped the ball and I believe if you knew he could be aggressive and was aggressive when you first got him I believe its your fault for letting him be around strangers. Dogs are territorial and will bite when you come into there territory.
100% right decisions to get him away from the kids and it’s great you found him someplace he could live out his life and not be put down
Hope his new family can give him the personal attention he needs possibly
That doesn’t sound like a aggressive dog it was sat on nobody likes to be sat on.Chandler got bit by alligator and took those things home should of gave the dog another chance. Just a lesson to be learned god bless
Kenan, you made the right decision. Lobo is a great dog. Dogs rock! But biting kids is a no go! Family is first! Love all the content and the croc-monitors are awesome.
You did the right thing....As hard as it is. You're a great man and always do what is best.
