Yep I bought one and it is exactly as I thought it would be. Mellow. Cruiser like. Suspension fantastic for the street and more than adequate for the dirt at a reduced speed. It will go all the places the other adventure bikes will go with a different approach. It's like a mule, it will go, just at the pace it's comfortable with. Will run down the road at 70MpH all day and when you to hit the dirt and follow some pretty knarly trails, it will most assuredly get you there. "All in" with my rebates it was 8,250ish. The T700 although a very nice bike would need to be outfitted with additional gear to make it a true Adventure bike so a more realistic cost would be 12k+. My math says that's about a 4k difference. Rest assured the aftermarket is working on mapping and rumor on the street is the engine has more torque and horsepower to give. We shall see.
Great follow-up! Yes, the KLR 650 is a fantastic machine. Your detail is exactly what people want to hear... It cruises the highway very comfortably and can go just about anywhere in the dirt once the road ends... and it is affordable. Well done Kawi!
Some things are just not a big deal. Having to remove screws to change the windshield position once or twice in the time you own the bike is really not a problem. Not having a temperature gauge. That's a problem.
What an amazing motorcycle. You can’t beat Kawasaki quality period.
It is an impressive bike. A HUGE upgrade over the previous Gen!

Good point Dennis. We hope to have one out in the open desert later this week... we will see about engine temp ;)
Not my cup of tea. But it's an awesome deal for the price!! Also Kawasaki hit it out of the park as far as what KLR riders want.
Yeah right? The diehard KLR niche has a very specific set of needs wants and Kawi was listening, that is for sure.
