    Thank you for all these fantastic videos. I watched EVERYTHING on TV about space when I was growing up, and most of them were pretty forgettable, lol. The nostalgia of getting to see all of these again, especially ones like this and Project UFO, is amazing. Never thought I would get to see them! Thanks!

    This is such a great movie. I remember watching it when it was first broadcast. 50 years later, it's still great, even if a little dated. Susan Clarke and Monty Markham do a fine job. But, 40 years after the events in the movie, we still haven't landen men on Mars.

      Notice the huge difference between Nixon and Watergate versus today...
      Barry Goldwater went to the Oval Office to explain to Nixon that Republicans were NOT going to cover for him. He was going to be Impeached and Removed by his own party.
      Today they will support you through attempt to overthrow the government. Convicted of dozens of felonies? No prob. Determined by multiple courts of law that you're a serial rapist? We've got your back.
      It's night and day.
      The values in this movie reflect that.
      Robert Lansing is the most nefarious character.
      And even he does not push it any further.

    A really good TV flick, focusing more on the humanity of the person as opposed to the conspiracy concept. Well acted by Monte Markham, Susan Clark, and Jackie Cooper. Robert Lansing is fine as well. Far better than Capricorn One, which it predated by six years. Well worth it.

    Had Nixon not killed the Apollo Space Program in favor of the Space Shuttle, we would've probably made it to Mars by 1981. Wernher von Braun said it could be done by the early 80's.

    • @michaelmckenna6464
      @michaelmckenna6464 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Apollo Space Program was so exciting as NASA got us closer to the moon with each new launch. And then we looked towards Mars.
      The Space Shuttle is not! With each launch being nothing but a repeat of the previous launch, it’s no wonder that there is little or no interest in NASA.

    I watched this to see if it had any input to my friend's TV show, "Lost". Seems like it might've. But to understand that, you'd have to understand that "Lost" was about doubles posed as survivors of an airline crash that actually killed all aboard.

    Terrific movie, great ending, excellent acting. Goes back far enough as not to have any swear words and sex. Is there someone out there with enough money to hire someone to digitize this movie? (How much does a thing like that cost, BTW?) I still like Capricorn One but the swearing is terrible. Believe it or not, I had an edited copy of it from when it was on regular TV and I recorded it on VHS. Alas, it got away from me.

    Which movie was about the government hiring three men to fake the moon landing? At the end, the one astronaut showed up at his own funeral, which the government was staging. I can't seem to find that one.

    Interesting the way this ended......Jackie Cooper's final words, "Mr President, This is Kurt Anderson, I have some very unpleasant news for both of us sir".
    Most likely, it means he is telling the truth.....but it could also be the words that proceed "Brice and Gail Randolph were just killed in an accident", so they could get ready for "The Astronaut 2" in 1973. lol....

    • @glouconx983
      @glouconx983 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      One problem with not telling the truth is that when the Russians die they too will discover that it was caused by something in the Martian atmosphere and they will know that NASA knew and didn't tell them. But you're right, the "both of us" indicates that he could willing to do the worst thing and kill really Eddie and Gail.
