This episode of Colorado Experience uncovers the history of Dearfield, a once-thriving Black settlement founded during the Great Migration. Situated on the arid plains east of Greeley, Dearfield was more than a community; it was a dream of prosperity and autonomy for Black settlers seeking refuge from the racial tensions of the South. This episode traces the rise and decline of this town and its impact.

Fantastic. We've driven by Dearfield going to Greely a hundred times and always wondered about the history. I missed watching this on TV Thursday. Thank you so much for posting this on your YT site! I do hope the restoration continues and we can stop in and see the progress.

My daughter and I have been in Colorado (Loveland) only 2 years and have explored much of NoCo. When we first learned about Dearfield, off we went. We've been back once, hoping it would be restored as much as possible. It must not fade into oblivion -- there's too much valuable history.

@maggiehokt2250 I grew up in the area until I was 12 years old and watched it degrade. I am so glad something is being done.

The people that stole the Dearfield lunchroom sign really need to return it . Come on now. Somebody has that .
