I hope it’s a hit on Broadway and maybe (if possible) a Tony Award winner.

Ok.... Let's leave some of the white characters white. 😐
Fun fact: Betty Boop was not inspired by a black woman. She was inspired by a white woman who stole her act from a black child. So... Don't bring it up.

Betty boop was originally a dog. Should we have a real dog play her? 🤨

Why is every white female cartoon character being turned into a black woman? I have no problem with it, I'm just asking ... why? lol. It seems like a very trendy thing to do these days.

There's no way to ask a question like that without coming off as a jerk ass.

Y’all being pressed about it when it was never a problem before is bizarre. Boop was inspired by Black performers of the time too.

You obviously do. Educate yourself on her first before opening your mouth and sounding stupid.

While Betty Boop may have been inspired by Helen Kane, a popular baby-talk performer in the 20s, she also has elements of her character (her classic “boop boop be-doop”) that were inspired by scat singing, which derives from black communities. There’s also evidence that Helen Kane thought to use scat singing after seeing Esther Jones, a young black performer, use it in her act. So Betty Boop might not be directly related to black performers, she definitely has elements that derive from them.
And even if there wasn’t any of this history in the character, it still doesn’t matter. This actress is extremely talented and was chosen for this role, and the race of the character doesn’t matter.
I hope you don’t think i’m coming off as aggressive, I just wanted to provide some information! Have a nice day
