@mycrazycreativelife2023 I used chopped almond and they are not powered fine but like topping size. And if it to dry I add a little bit of milk. It works great if you like them. I make 1 batch without a 1 batch with fine chopped almonds. You have great vedios thank you for sharing ❤️
New subbie! Lookin forward to binge watchin your videos. You are a great teacher. Wishin you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🎀🎀🎄🎄🎀🎀 I'm watchin you from eastern Virginia.
Oh my goodness. Makes me happy you are a part of my crazy family. And thank you for the compliment. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. By the way, my Granny was from Virginia. ❤️🎄
I think so. I also had a feeling and looked it up, and I was right. They use gulf wax “paraffin wax” in the chocolate that coats ice cream. Dairy Queen uses something different I believe but a lot of your chocolate “crackle” that’s poured over ice cream uses it.
I make quick ones with 1 stick butter, 2 cups powdered powder, and 3 cups coconut. Then I roll into balls, put them in petit four liners and stick a Hershey’s kiss with almonds in the middle and push down. Makes about 60
I love the way you make these. On a different subject though, did anyone else see the orb looking light @24:20 or about that time?? On the left side of the screen??
Thank you very much. I do notice that occasionally when I’m facing the camera like this. I just figured it was dust and the way my window to my right allows light in, it’s shinning on some dust. lol
Merry Christmas!!!! I hope you love them. They are a little dryer than mounds. But I love them. I do have a recipe in my mind though to try to make some with Coconut Cream. 😁
I used to make my mother-in-laws “mounds balls”, as we call them, every year. They were so special. My mom’s favorite candy so I loved making them for her. Our recipe called for the sweetened condensed milk as you mentioned, and we also use the wax. The wax was new to me but I trusted the process & it works beautifully. I have always used a double boiler. I love your tip to grate it & will use that method. Thanks for making this video & good luck to you!
Absolutely! And thank you very much. It is made by Wilton’s and here are some links to this tool and others if you would like to look. You can also get them at Michael’s and I think Wal-Mart. Wilton's Candy Dipping Spoon amzn.to/3v2vFJs Wilton's Candy Dipping Tool Set amzn.to/3Nq2Vkg Wilton's Candy
Aww thank you very much! Haha I completely understand, some ppl don’t like the wax. I should have mentioned it’s the same wax as those red lips we use to chew on and sometimes eat as a kid. 🤣
Rice Crispy Candy? I’ve never seen that recipe. I imagine it’s similar to like a Nestles Crunch? Thanks for telling me what you like. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you so much. I’m staring to think that gulf wax method is going away and not as many people are familiar with it. Thank you for your sweet comment. Merry Christmas 🎄

My grandma made these when I was a little girl and I have not saw anyone else make them. They are so good. My grandma made hers with the sweetened condensed milk and they were great . I am sure you're are just as good.they wouldn't be quite as sweet but wonderful anyway.😂❤❤ 25:28
When I was a kid we made coconut bon bons with a can of sweetened condensed milk, 2 pounds of powdered sugar a large bag (I forgot the weight) shredded of flaked coconut. Mixed together and made balls and dipped in melted chocolate. Sometimes adding chopped nuts or a cherry, and sometimes green and red food coloring. I think I'd like to try it with butter instead of the SCM.
You got you a new subscriber!! Loved your recipe. Gonna have to try it. Can you tell me where you got your candy spoon please? Loved to find one and use it. Would make things a whole lot faster. Merry Christmas🌲🎁
I’ve seen that recipe, and I want to try it. I think it’s got nuts and cherries, and correct me if I am wrong. But I want to try that. Thanks for the feedback. ❤️
Yeah, I don't think I would want to put that wax stuff in my chocolate. I don't think I have ever used that and I have melted a lot of chocolate. Never seen this before. I always just use a little Karo syrup or was it Crisco? 👀BWHAHA
Lol. probably Crisco. It will help your chocolate stay more liquid I guess you could say for easier dipping. But then the chocolate stays soft. I think the Gulf Wax is slowly dying. Not many ppl use it anymore. But older ppl do. So I guess I’m old. Hahahha
Hi April i loved your method of making coconut balls or cubes as you said. My great granddaughter loves coconut so im hoping to make some for her. She is 10. Im a new subscriber and i hope you reach your desired goal.

They look so yummy.

Thanks for sharing
Thank you. ❤️
Some times I feel like a nut and sometimes I don't, so putting an almond into the middle of your stellar recipe has become my new favorite 😊
lol. Aww thank you. ❤️

Looking delicious food my friend
Thank you very much!!! Merry Christmas 🎄
I've always used Gulf Wax to make my candy. It leaves a beautiful shine on chocolate candy.

Love this idea….i hate dipping all those balls in chocolate!
lol I do too.
@yasmindellemonache6601
What is "powdered powder"?
I think she means powdered sugar. lol.
Absolutely awesome
Thank you. 🥰

New to this channel, and I'm glad I found you!!
I’m glad you did too. And thank you for your sweet comment. 🥰
My mom and grandmother always used parifin.😊
Thank you for telling me that. Seems it's loosing its popularity, lol But I still like to use it in my candy making, and have taught my girls.
Yes it works great!
I agree. 😀
I love using it!
@@darlenecheramie7309 I do to. Haha. Thank you. 🩷

I'm going to try this (minus the wax).

Rice crispy candy
Rice Crispy Candy? I’ve never seen that recipe. I imagine it’s similar to like a Nestles Crunch? Thanks for telling me what you like. Merry Christmas 🎄
When my mom made her peanut butter balls, she used the Gulf Wax too! I definitely want to try your "Mounds" recipe!!😋🥥
Thank you so much. I’m staring to think that gulf wax method is going away and not as many people are familiar with it. Thank you for your sweet comment. Merry Christmas 🎄
My recipe use light corn syrup for the binder.
Oh okay. I’m sure that would bind it pretty well. 🥰
Where did you get your dipping spatula? I would totally get one of those.

Oh okay. Sounds good. ❤️
I. Would. Used. Both. Butter. Codence
Sweet. Milk
Oh okay. I wondered about that, I just hadn’t looked it up lol. Thank you for telling me what you use. 🥰
If you used the sweetened condensed milk you can use unsweetened coconut.
I’d say so. It’s pretty sweet. It would give that contrast. Thanks for the comment. Merry Christmas 🎄

Or hide the toasted almond in the center
Yes Ma'am !!! I wanted to this day, but I was out lol. So they stayed as Mounds haha.
My mom did hers in dark chocolate and her peanut butter in milk chocolate
We also put pecan crumbs in with your coconut
That’s a good idea! Thank you Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
I’d say that would be good too. ❤️
Heheh your recipe says ‘peanut butter ball out of the freezer’ copy and paste slip
Hahahaa oh my gosh!!!! 🫣 thank you for bringing that to may attention. Oh man, I’m a mess.
Love that you don’t use condensed milk
lol. Thank you. 🥰
Where's Robert Dale when you need him to hold that bowl
I know, right? Hahaha that sucker kept getting away hahah. Yeah he could have helped 🤣😝
God because I do not care for SCM
Thank you. I’ve never tired the SCM version. But I’m seeing several people are not a fan. 🥰
Too much description and indesision.
Well, if one is new to cooking they need more in depth description. And that’s my aim. Sorry it’s not for you. You have a good day.
