- Today's video is another species profile on another incredible ISOPOD.
This time Cubaris sp. Panda King which took the world by storm a few years back. This incredible smaller Isopod comes from the limestone cave systems of Vietnam and reproduces readily in captivity once is needs are met.
Being a Cubaris they are more Calcium dependant than say your average Armadillidium or Porcellio. Requires far higher moisture content within their enclosure and slightly warmer to truly thrive in captivity.
But once happy and established they replicate rather rapidly and soon you will have whole herd of PANDA KING ISOPODS running around.
Thanks for watching my friends,
Cheers!
Biggs
Thank you Chris. Panda kings are what I am getting next.😊
Good choice! You’ll love em
these are the kind im getting! i love cubaris the most and these ones look amazing for the price
Panda kings for a ‘Cubaris’ are very prolific hence the drastic price drop and availability
Hi Biggs, nice informative video, never been to the isopods but recently collected some Armadillidium vulgare for a friend of mine as theyre not found in his location and actually enjoyed watching them, im now thinking of collecting some for myself and looking into getting a few species too 👍🏻
Game on!
Great video
Thanks!
Great stuff, Chris. You forgot to mention you need a shovel to dig them up lol They hide so well!
Mine use all the layers so always lots up top
@@themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556 I did a video the other day and was gutted because I couldn't find any without digging for them lol
do you have any of those rubber duckies in a clear aquarium so you can see them clearly going about their daily routines?
I have in the past. Most isopods prefer darkness and shy away from the light. I found any that I put in open vivs where one could see a he isopods just dug deeper into the substrate
What where do you get your calcium slab?
Any pet stores that deal with salt water/marine reefs and aquariums should stock them
Would crushed coral also work?
Most definitely
What is the most profitable isopod? Is it these panda kings or will there be a next best thing?
Pandas are generally far too prolific to maintain a higher value.
More challenging and slower replicating species are generally higher value.
Rubber duckies
All the new Merulanella species
All the spiky types
