They should teach Ulcerate in schools.
"Ulceration" sounds odd...
@@FlorianPestilenz Haha! “Ulceration 101”.
His settings is ergonomically the best out there
Gobsmacking elite chops aside, the most interesting aspect of Jamie’s drumming is the unique configuration of his arrangements, like when fills just come from nowhere and appear disjointed, but instead they work, probably due to his impeccable timing.
Word!
IMHO, his setup is just a leverage for his enviable drumming. But, indeed, his timings, fillings, all of his plays are extraordinary. For years, he is setting the (human playable) limits - in terms of complexity paired with speed and sublety.
@@FlorianPestilenz Well put brother. Also, the effortless power he achieves with his fast single strokes in his tom fills is something to behold.
@@Virvum_Juggernaut Ye! Also his flawless switch from efficient double-bass (calf controlled) to heel-toe for a perfect fraction of timing. He reminds me, that, if you have a HUGE talent, train it nevertheless.
The most likable drummers (also featured here) are the most humble ones and yet the most talented - I guess it is a guideline **cough** *Aaron Kitcher sucks* **cough**
@@FlorianPestilenz IKR? “Aaron Kitcher” LMAO! If only he could physically play his drum tracks. I stick to the likes of Jamie, Darren Cesca, David Diepold, Spencer Prewett, Guilio Galati, Sebastian Lanser, Ken Bedene, Kerim Lechner, etc, but my top 2 cleanest speed demons with flawless techniques are Janne Jaloma and Simon Schilling. It blows my mind how the most élite extreme metal drummers of today have mastered every foot technique imaginable and switch between them when necessary (as you mentioned).
Edit : How good future drummers will become is a frightening prospect considering that it already beggars belief how insane they are now.
he’s one of those drummers you can show people who aren’t into metal and they will be impressed as well
that snare sounds absolutely incredible 🔥🔥🔥
Every time Jaime is on the kit is a time to witness an unbelievable work of mastery, his fluency and style is absolutely phenomenal.
Incredible indeed.
that MASSIVE fill at 1:18 ending with a perfect ping on the ride was absolutely masterclass
i'm glad someone said it. i backed it up 6 times to watch that again. flawless and brilliant
Really interesting and creative drumming. One of the best Ive seen since Sean Reinert
Love the sound of that snare, it's perfect.
I like the kick sounds, it has a very organic and natural sound, in spite of being triggered. Hell of a lot better than the plastic sounding laser beam samples most drummers use these days.
@@cbl6520 much better, and his technique too, i see a lot of drummers using a pitiful heeltoe technique and a horrible trigger sound on the kit.
Immaculately sorted kit
God damn!!! That kit sounds fucking beautiful, and the precision and timing this fella has making the drums sing! Satisfaction!
MAN this guy can make you sigh, heavy drum poetry warning !!! \m/
As i keep saying time and time again....Jamie is easily the greatest most complete drummer in extreme metal...his work is so Damn Complex and full of surprises and musical ideas that even after hearing thousand times never loses its novelty!!!
Agreed man. He's literally on another level from everyone else. Used to think it was Lille Gruber...nope.
I have to go back to this piece at least once every fucking day and it blows me away every time!! I could practise 30 more years and not reach this level WTF!
True!!
J S M bussin out RESPECTFULLY ON the stage like a RESPECTFUL god
just flawless drumming watched over 50 times .. such an inspiration on the drums.
People, a couple decades ago, would have never thought it was humanly possible to drum in that fashion!!
Jamie Saint Merat is absolutely insane!
And a couple decades from now they will remember him as one the greatest drummers to ever grace this planet. Just a force of nature.
This dude is in a league of his own! Absolutely beautiful! And their latest album is a masterpiece from start to finish....
Absolutely true!
Absolutely fucking AMAZING. I've seen em live and his drum power is scary so scary, I love it.
I'm a simple man. I see Jamie. I CLICK!! Outstanding performance as always!
One of the best to ever do it.🔥
How can the sound be this good? The drumming is also godlike. Perfect video.
That song is killing Everybody's out amazing drumming thank you ulcerate
Man... I know it's a nightmare to do these days, but I know a LOT of us in the US would love you guys to tour over here.
Surely Ulcerate have toured the States before … haven’t they? Dude below commented that he just saw them in Copenhagen.
@@Virvum_Juggernaut If they have then I missed them. I know they've played Maryland Death Fest a time or two, but that's a good ways away from me.
I would imagine they've at least toured the states once or twice, but if they did they were nowhere close to me.
@@Jeffmetal42 Fair enough man, I had no idea and just assumed that they would have. I’m an Aussie and have only seen them live once, but they were extraordinarily tight, almost a spiritual experience musically. Kind of like the Tool version of extreme metal. Here’s hoping that you get to see them in the near future brother!
@@Virvum_Juggernaut hell yeah man! Thanks!
I like your name too, that's the name of one of my favorite Deeds of Flesh tunes. ,🤘
@@Jeffmetal42 Much appreciated mate. Your musical taste is exemplary! Check out Darren Cesca’s DEEDS OF FLESH drum playthroughs. He’s phenomenal. All the best brother! 🤘🏻
Edit : Going by your profile pic, I bet you appreciate the fact that the legendary Ken Bedene can also play guitar whilst being so sick a drummer hey?
One of the best (modern) extreme metal drummer.
Definitely,
This guy's fills are so fucking nice.
Saw them in Malmö... they're amazing live... and Jamie is an otherworldly kind of drummer, he must be an AI-powered humanoid 😅 nah, seriously, what an excellent drummer, can't wait to see them again
Fckn beautiful sounding set and you my friend are one amazing drummer
I just saw him live in Copenhagen months ago and really it’s a killer liveeeee man ubique style and sounds as his band man, brutal and Beautifully
I can't wait to see them perform stuff of this album live, finally.
Those rolls, holy crap
Monster
What an absolute legend
Fuuuuuck 😳😳😳😳 apart from the great performance, I can’t recall such powerfull, cutting and clear live sound of toms and snare in this genere… hats off gentlemen
My calves locked up just watching this!!
So insane... Love IT!!!
The Neil Peart of extreme metal
Ave, Ulcerate is Divinity!
🙏🔥🙏
Absolutny mistrz! Miło było poznać w Linkoping !
Incredible
THE GOATS!!!! THE GOAAAATS!!!!!!!!!
The best there is
from witch planet this dude came?
Insane playing with diferent aproach, it is a very overplayed but somehow fit the sound, also... how to get drums to sound this good? He did the mix on those recordings? Marvelous work
The ride work always amaze me.. Fucking beast
Oh my. Pure perfection. His fills are so tasteful. Your first video on Ulcerate got me completely hoocked on these guys. Hope to see them in Poland some day.
Pewnie nieprędko. Byli w Lublinie 2 listopada 2022, z Mgłą. Wcześniej w 2017.
@@drummersfromhell666 😭
Do dziś mam bilet z 2017 😊
@@wujBat wykorzystany? Czy czeka na przedarcie? ;)
@@drummersfromhell666 oczywiście byłem na koncercie. Grali z Archspire i Rivers of Nihil. Mega skład!
Sick!
Fenomenal !!!!
...Madness🤘🏼😎🤘🏼!!!!
Impecable........
Jesus tits his style is unreal..don't see how he remembers all what he's playing! Just wow!
Godlike
Always great, Good job jamie🤘🏻
Phenomenon
💜
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Impresionante técnica, variedad, ingenio etc etc...👍👍👍👍👍👍
5:05 Did the vibrations of the low toms you struck immediately afterwards change the tone of the ride bells?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
There is NONE better in the business
What makes his performance even more impressive is the fact that he’s doing this on a back line - rented kit. Might not sound like a big deal - and yes a great musician can play on anything - but it just adds to the level of difficulty
Pretty sure that is Jamie's kit
@@mikegladstone8834that kit has the cheap Remo UT made in Taiwan heads they make for pearl. More than likely a back line kit (rented) as this was also filmed in Sweden and ulcerate is from New Zealand - traveling all that way with his kit would cost more than renting one and dig into the bands profits.
@@mikegladstone8834 It's not his kit...he has a BLX Lava finish which has been discontinued. That one is a pearl master (modern version) In the latest shows they had in US he was using a green sparkle MMX (looks like it) its his latest video you can find.
Awesome work, really great flow and great unexpected transitions and fills. Also funny to see that the song is so long you get ads lol 😂
How the fuck is anyone that good at drums?
💪💪💪💪
No words.
Word … lol.
Omg
It was so fucking good
i swear the drumline should've been put more in front in the album mix, with everything else in the back
Imagine not knowing Ulcerate and then seeing this shit. You would shit your pants.
Fuckin hell!!!
Amazing! I listen them sometimes, but my problem with their music it that it's so complex, sometimes overdone, and there aren't many returning elements, it can be overwhelming, and there aren't many memorable parts... but that's just me. I'm more into classic song structure and fewer but catchier themes.
They're more catchier with their latest album. It's still Ulcerate, though.
If Neil Peart played death metal...
This drummer is on another level
5:08 ....
Very Cool but i don't understand why drummers don't used left ride but used bell for double riding
i have one bell on my left side, i think its easier to carry and to set in the kit, he could not put a big ride to close to his toms like he did with a small bell.
A small bell can be placed anywhere in the kit and with a more simple drum hardware.
@@hugorezende199 This is a good option, but it has a second ride on the kit
He uses 2 8" bells, so I guess he prefers their sound?
Would love to hear this guy play in a bit more “straight forward” band - crazy talent for sure but maybe a little buried in complexity
Check out Verberis, it's a blackened death metal band he's in. Still fairly complex but not as much as Ulcerate
@@LegiTTxBoss true there is where you could here his more musical chops ...is like if ulcerate drop the blast beast and the crazy chaotic polymetric stuff and remplace it with the atmospheric more restraint section of ulcerate...so when the chaos arrives is more black metal oriented less fill and complex cymbal/ foot work
Witchcraft I tell you! 😁
awesome band by the way (i know i know this drummer is insane)
What a fucking great Drummer!!
He totally kills it!!
