Gobsmacking elite chops aside, the most interesting aspect of Jamie’s drumming is the unique configuration of his arrangements, like when fills just come from nowhere and appear disjointed, but instead they work, probably due to his impeccable timing.
IMHO, his setup is just a leverage for his enviable drumming. But, indeed, his timings, fillings, all of his plays are extraordinary. For years, he is setting the (human playable) limits - in terms of complexity paired with speed and sublety.
@@Virvum_Juggernaut Ye! Also his flawless switch from efficient double-bass (calf controlled) to heel-toe for a perfect fraction of timing. @@FlorianPestilenz IKR? “Aaron Kitcher” LMAO! If only he could physically play his drum tracks. I stick to the likes of Jamie, Darren Cesca, David Diepold, Spencer Prewett, Guilio Galati, Sebastian Lanser, Ken Bedene, Kerim Lechner, etc, but my top 2 cleanest speed demons with flawless techniques are Janne Jaloma and Simon Schilling. I like the kick sounds, it has a very organic and natural sound, in spite of being triggered. Hell of a lot better than the plastic sounding laser beam samples most drummers use these days.

Every time Jaime is on the kit is a time to witness an unbelievable work of mastery, his fluency and style is absolutely phenomenal. Incredible indeed.
As i keep saying time and time again....Jamie is easily the greatest most complete drummer in extreme metal...his work is so Damn Complex and full of surprises and musical ideas that even after hearing thousand times never loses its novelty!!!
I have to go back to this piece at least once every fucking day and it blows me away every time!! I could practise 30 more years and not reach this level WTF!
Saw them in Malmö... they're amazing live... and Jamie is an otherworldly kind of drummer, he must be an AI-powered humanoid 😅 nah, seriously, what an excellent drummer, can't wait to see them again
Fuuuuuck 😳😳😳😳 apart from the great performance, I can’t recall such powerfull, cutting and clear live sound of toms and snare in this genere… hats off gentlemen
from witch planet this dude came? Insane playing with diferent aproach, it is a very overplayed but somehow fit the sound, also... how to get drums to sound this good? He did the mix on those recordings? Marvelous work
Oh my. Pure perfection. His fills are so tasteful. Your first video on Ulcerate got me completely hoocked on these guys. Hope to see them in Poland some day.
What makes his performance even more impressive is the fact that he’s doing this on a back line - rented kit. Might not sound like a big deal - and yes a great musician can play on anything - but it just adds to the level of difficulty
@@mikegladstone8834that kit has the cheap Remo UT made in Taiwan heads they make for pearl. More than likely a back line kit (rented) as this was also filmed in Sweden and ulcerate is from New Zealand - traveling all that way with his kit would cost more than renting one and dig into the bands profits.
@@mikegladstone8834 It's not his kit...he has a BLX Lava finish which has been discontinued. That one is a pearl master (modern version) In the latest shows they had in US he was using a green sparkle MMX (looks like it) its his latest video you can find.
Amazing! I listen them sometimes, but my problem with their music it that it's so complex, sometimes overdone, and there aren't many returning elements, it can be overwhelming, and there aren't many memorable parts... but that's just me. I'm more into classic song structure and fewer but catchier themes.
i have one bell on my left side, i think its easier to carry and to set in the kit, he could not put a big ride to close to his toms like he did with a small bell. A small bell can be placed anywhere in the kit and with a more simple drum hardware.
@@LegiTTxBoss true there is where you could here his more musical chops ...is like if ulcerate drop the blast beast and the crazy chaotic polymetric stuff and remplace it with the atmospheric more restraint section of ulcerate...so when the chaos arrives is more black metal oriented less fill and complex cymbal/ foot work
They should teach Ulcerate in schools.
