    Hello,
    I am from Mauritius and new to the Jadam Organic Farming. But I've become a real adherent and supporter of this magical system for gardeners and Earth lovers during the past months.
    I am just now reading Mr Cho's remarkable book and find that sugar, vinegar, molasses etc are not acceptable to the Jadam ways. Then how am I to make Calcium for my plants which I previously made with vinegar, egg shells etc.?
    Kindly reply plz for I am eager to learn as much as possible of this miraculous gardening method which frees us finally from the chemical drama and excessive expenses.

    Actually, most plant alkaloids are evolutionary developments to mediate insect predation on plants. They are the first pesticides. SInce insects and herbivores typically consume several times their body weight in plant tissue in a relatively short time, relatively low concentrations of the alkaloids quickly become either neurotoxic of inhibt some necessary metabolic pathway resulting in the death of the insect or the disorientation or poisoning of the animal. Some of the first commercial pesticides and many of the currently used pesticides were/are based on nicotine. Much of what we consider drugs, (cocaine, opiods, epinepherine, and tropane alkaloids like atropine functioned either as insecticides, or caused herbivores to avoid particular plants.

    • @bxmully
      @bxmully 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's fascinating and I know it's true. Isn't it interesting how we humans end up liking what we're originally supposed to be poison defenses for plants? Capsaicin immediately comes to mind.
      This is gona sound weird but I heard from some of the random sources I follow that there are extraterrestrials and caffeine is outlawed for them bc it's like a super drug for their nervous systems. Ofcourse I'm going into what some would deem conspiracy theory territory. If u wanna know more look into what Haim Ashed said about this stuff. He was the former head of Israel's equivalent of NASA. I won't ruin the surprise go see for yourself.

    • @massivereader
      @massivereader 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bxmully Heh. That weirdly aligns with my own personal long held theory... that caffeine use (or the use of other stimulants and halicinogens) is largely responsible for the develpment of all advanced human cultures. Caffeine, in particular, in addition to being a general stimulant to the central nervous system actually has the effect of improving IQ on a short term basis by as much as ten points. That might not seem to be much, but the difference between someone functionally retarded and simply not that bright is only ten points. The differece between 'not that bright' and absolutely average is only ten points. The difference between someone absolutely average and someone typically considered sharp or savy is only around ten points, the same spread is similar for sharp and bright, bright and gifted, and gifted and genius. Widepread consumption of caffeine can lift a population literally to the next level intelectually, as well as energizing them to engage is more industrious activity than would be their normal practice. You can see this in the blossoming of many cultures where the consummption of tea, coffee, and the obiquity of other caffeinated beverages tracks along with their cultural and economic accendancies.
