    I'm so happy to see you back. Whenever there's a large gap.between videos I grow concerned for your health.
    I'm watching the latest video you posted regarding the good and bad of utube... got me wiping tears and laughing all within the first few minutes .
    I love hearing whats on your mind. You are such a great, strong, caring individual. You've inspired me. You've lifted me up when I've been down. Shown me that life can be shitty but at least I'm not alone struggling through the shit. 🤣😂🤣😂
    Your smile is so contagious!!!! Thank you so much for your straight forward approach to your videos.
    You show us how to do things affordably and easily. And reminds us that you are a human just as the rest of us. And as that, you too have struggles in life. And sometimes we have to learn to get joy from the smallest of things in order to get through the hugest obstacles in life.
    I continue to keep you in my thoughts of health and prosperity 💫
    Stay strong my friend. You bring light and hope into my life by sharing your passion for gardening and family.

    Excellent video!!! EXCELLENT!!!!
    Thank you for the excellent presentation!!!!
    Learning soil mixes is so fundamental to successful gardening that the more we know, the better we garden!!!
    AND thank you for not putting music into your video!!!
    So many content providers stuff in music and sound effects and other exaggerated hand movements, it is absurd!!!
    Thank you for creating a pleasant and effective instructional video!!!
    I give this video a 9.5 out of 10 👍🏻

    Just subscribed after looking for alternative to peet and your video came up. It’s so hard to get advice when you have an unusual yard. We moved to high Southern California desert in retirement. Put it this way, Death Valley is one hour west of us! Several local trees but I was spoiled by coastal calif where winter is no freeze and everything grows all year round. Now I’m dealing with 4,000 feet elevation. I’m used to using drought tolerant plants but all my succulents in pots died when the freeze came early and we were out of town. Summers are 3 months of 100 degrees. Winters are not totally bad. A few days of snow but can go down to 17 degrees. Mostly 20 so found some plants that survive down to 10 degrees or come back from roots. The dying off in winter has some advantages though. Ive not bought any yet until I check varieties that do well here but roses have no bug issues because unlike coastal calif they die back, so everyone says! And they love the heat. Interesting too. True English Lavendar loves it here. It doesnt even die back on top. We have many trees and added more so I’m starting to save the leaves. My partner was just throwing away. I was digging them over. The soil though is crazy. Some areas are total calcium. This has us doing things like picnic bench on pavers and a future BBQ pit. Will also do some rock gardens. Plenty of rocks came with the yard. All you have to do is dig down. They’ve come in handy for retaining walls and other uses. A local lady with a lavendar ranch makes compost for $40 to full the truck bed so in luck there. I’m going to try the container aging of the leaf mold. Anything to break up some of this soil. Will also look at the rest of your videos. I may be saving egg shells and banana peels too. I make a lot of banana bread.

    It's really such a great idea to break apart the leaf mulch a little bit more using a sieve like you did, Lee. I've never thought about it before.
    I also do a start potting mix but the only thing I do differently is that I do not use epson salt, usually I add worm castings to the mix instead. Nevertheless both ways are great, rich and nutritive mixes to use around the garden.
    In addition, I hope you're feeling better already and your life is becoming more satisfying. Keep doing these amazing and very informative videos about gardening.
    A great thumbs up and a big hug from Portugal. 😉👌

    Lots of good information on your channel! Thank you :-) If you want to shred large amounts of leaves for mulch or to make leaf mould, lay them out in a line on your lawn and go over them a few times with your lawn mower. Works really well, just rake them up and put them in your pile (or bag) They break down much quicker this way. Happy Gardening!

    • @ProjectDiaries
      @ProjectDiaries  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oak leaves are acidic fresh but once they have completely rotted down they become neutral but you can't use them like I did in this video. They'll need between 3-5 years to full compost :)

  • @kennethstensrud669
    @kennethstensrud669 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    One has to use ones best tool, i.e our hands for mixing, pricking out, planting, potting etc.... never mind those who think it is not good to use ones hands bare. But I have to mix huge amounts of potting composts, so I have invested in a concrete mixer... it makes short work of mixing the potting compost. It is only for compost mixing, så never used for concrete. Lovely to see you back btw, and hope to see you more this year.

    This is definitely one of the most helpful and informative channels on gardening I've come across so far as a beginner, very useful and fun to watch also. I'm sorry to know that you have some health problems, But I have no doubt with positive attitude and smiles like yours, things will get better and better, I'll be watching, keep it up mate :) Greetings from China.

    Hi Lee, great to see you on again, hope all is well and Grandad is thriving. I make my own potting mix annually using leaves (leaf mould), spent coffee grinds, lots of cardboard/newspaper, home made compost and grit or sand. Virtually free, could add perlite at the end 👍🏻 I will now add eggshells and banana (although already in my compost).

    I am so happy I found your videos. You are a wealth of information. I did try to tap into your Amazon recommendations but it continues to divert to UK and not US. Sorry. Love all your videos and tips.
