      Here's a little (big) tip for sprinting & in life in general. Train slow & work on form. As you progress through the years, get a little faster each year. By the time you get to the Olympics, you'll peak at the right time. Ever noticed that Michael Johnson's workouts were very slow & so was Usain Bolts. In fact even when Usain ran his best times, he wasn't even running all out. He had a lot left in the tank. He could have ran a lot faster but bc he never overtrained & or over did it with intense speed training all the time he was running much faster than everyone else with the least amount of effort. Also watch Floyd Mayweather Jr train, he never trained extremely fast or hard. Everything was slow, great form, repetition & perfection. They all mastered their movements very slowly & peaked at the time of the event. I pray this helps you.

  • @JifeLacket
    @JifeLacket 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Don't everyone start 1/8th squatting now ... quarter squatting is commonly used in sprint/explosive sports leading up to/during competition. One can load super heavy so there is huge CNS stimulation, and it's enough to maintain strength through a larger ROM with less muscular fatigue allowing the athlete to focus 100% on sport-specific training (still big CNS stim so if you're a beginner doing burn yourself out). I've lived it but don't know how to properly explain this so yeah. I've seen athletes full squat/at least to parallel in the off season and then transition to 1/4 squats as they adapt their bodies to produce optimum power/explosiveness in their specific sport. We got in shit for bending bars at a gym during a training camp 12 years ago doing quarter squats haha.

    • @TrackStar42
      @TrackStar42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this why i feel like i got slower after sprint training and lifting? I have behind the knee pains alot and have way more issues since i started lifting and sprint training. I was a 22.02/47.90 guy in hs as a senior but was 5"6 122lbs. I took a short to long approach but cant run as a fast as back then bc my stamina sucks from lack of endurance training, im stronger than ever and weigh 145 now. I squat 3 plates for two and can dunk but im slower somehow and fatigue super easy. Tips? Im scared of lactates and endurance work in fear ill revert all the hard power and fast twitch work ive done

    • @JifeLacket
      @JifeLacket 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sry for the late reply. When I was struggling to improve I thought it was all about the weight room. I was actually fed lies from other athletes about how much they could squat, clean, deadlift, etc. Once I focused on actual training more and minimized weights (max session would be like 45min) I started improving again. There is a baseline strength one should achieve but everyone is different. Sprinting is already a super high CNS stimulant and doing too much in the gym can just be ... well too much (depending on age, years trained, level etc). It's also WHAT you do in the gym and how you do it. I've seen guys winning world cups that squat much less than what people talk about pros doing, way less. I come from a track sprinting background on a bike (velodrome) but the philosophy is very similar. I couldn't tell you anything about running technique but sprinting is sprinting. The major difference is that we can do a bit more volume on the bike because it's low impact (still 110% intensity), we just don't risk hamstring pulls etc like in track. @@TrackStar42
