Once I started using Super Assilex and seeing the results I consistently get, I can't see myself using any other product at this time. It is that good. Thanks Chris.
thanks for putting this out. im a newbie at this and before i start painting anything id like to have a plan of action, not to mention good products ready for the job. im following your videos and theyve been invaluable. its great to see a company like eagle abr. to reach out to you and this lil community of diy-ers, it would have taken me $$$ and long time to stumble on this on my own. yours and maximum guitarworks are the most detail oriented channels on youtube ive found. thanks again! happy holidays!
What are you doing to clean the assilex sheets? I have been using a fingernail brush and water, but was interested in what you are using. What is the lifespan of the assilex sheet? I can’t believe how great they work.
I just use a towel to wipe the sheet clean. Between grits, I vacuum the cloth. If the sheet gets clogged, I use a stiff brush to remove the buildup. As for the lifespan, they get better after a guitar or two and seem to last through four of five guitars at least.
Hey Chris, Are you using an interface pad with your RO sander? I have used the Super Assilex hand pads at your suggestion from a previous video, and I actually prefer them to Mirka Abralon. Nice to see they work well with the RO sander. Is it safe to assume your using the sander for all grits including Super Bufflex? Thank you
ciao volevo sapere es i piani per la costruzione della cnc sono in mm o in pollici e se eventuali le misure li potresti convertire in mm perchè sarei interessato
Thanks for making your videos, Chris. Crystalac warns against using stearated paper when sanding Brite Tone. Do you happen to know if either of these brands of sandpaper are non-stearated? Or does it even matter anymore? I've read most sandpaper manufacturers use water-soluble lubricants now. It's a bit difficult to keep it all straight sometimes, appreciate your videos for helping us make sense of it all. Happy holidays
Before moving to the buffed out shots, I'd love to see shots of both finishes in really bright light from different angles. Also, is that a door mat you're using to clean off the abrasive? If so, brilliant idea as long as you keep that towel between it and you're finish. Thanks so much for sharing you're experiments so we all can benefit!
Too bad they only sale them in packs of 50pc... At least in Switzerland... I ordered a test-set and was totally happy with it, works amazing. Would love to buy more, it's just too expensive... 60$/grit is more than I can spend... Why not sell them in packs of 10 or so? But anyway, thx for your videos, I can learn from all of them. A source of inspiration and knowledge, keep it up

Thanks for the reply.
Do you sand with a circular motion for all grits, or just the initial leveling?
Mostly just during the initial leveling.
Morning. What temperature is your shop? Does it make a difference? Happy new year!
70° F. I don’t know if temperature makes any difference since it always stays the same.

I hand sanded with the Super Buflex, but you can use a RO sander if you want to.

The use of a stearate treated sandpaper only matters when you sand between coats. It's not an issue when level or polish sanding.

That's what the white towel is for.
do you still use solarez as sanding sealer?
Yes, I do. However, it depends on the wood, how much time I have, and the look I am after.
