Dwarf fortress and rimworld have been wothout a doubt some of the highest quality gaming moments ive had if not the highest. The situations that come up are unmatched by anything else. Crusader kings 3 too but thats different and i dont feel its as replayable as DF and rimworld but still a blast. But as a warning ck3 is more complicated to learn than non steam and steam DF. There is no wrong way to play Rimworld. There are just ways you end up on watch lists. Playing Rimworld is a watchlist in it of itself.
