  • TOP 10 FASTEST AIRCRAFT IN THE WORLD
    ----------------------
Every air force of any nation in the world has the need for speed. You have to fly faster than anything that may enter your country’s airspace to be able to intercept possible attack of any sort. Time is of the essence and speed is a crucial element of that. Ever since the development of jet engine in the mid-20th century, aircraft engineers are on the race to build the fastest most sophisticated flying machine. Some of the greatest gravity-defying machines over the last century are as follows.
    ----------------------
    10) Sukhoi Su-27
    9) F-111 Aardvark
    8) McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle
    7) Mikoyan MiG-31
    6) XB-70 Valkyrie
    5) Bell X-2 Starbuster
    4) Mikoyan MiG-25
    3) Lockheed YF-12
    2) SR-71 Blackbird
    1) North American X-15

You're obviously not referring to the Canadian government or military, are you?
Cause as far as I know the only other thing we might have done ( i.e., is when Canada contributed up to 22. billion to develop space launching capabilities in canada)
Via the Harp program, which for all intense purposes probably contributed to the now functional magnetic rail gun.
First considered as a defense mechanism to thwart an asteroid.

The goal at the time these aircraft were developed, was outrunning air defenses. That is no longer practical, so they are no longer actively developing such fast aircraft. The hypersonic missile is the focus today.. ie a weapons systems capable of delivering itself, at speeds which there is currently no defense for.

The "need for speed" has been realized to not be the most important thing for fighter planes anymore. They just need to be fast enough, somewhere between mach 1.8 and mach 2. That's why so many of these are old. Most combat takes place around mach 1.2 or less.

Defeating heat is the key to prolong flight at high speed.
There must be a series of barriers that remove the heat as it soaks into the airframe.
Anything faster than the SR-71 does not stay at those high speeds for more than a few minutes at a time.

As I understand it, she had flown up from Beale, made her passes and then flew back. It actually made me weep to get to see that aircraft for real. As a youngster, reading about the X-15 sent shivers down my spine - and it still does to this day - 58 years later. I have one question for anyone who can help. So, it goes both ways. Britain did supply some of the early knowledge for G.E. to start building jet engines. Also, they supplied some of the best jet engines to the U.S. Namely those made by Rolls-Royce. But, Kelly Johnson did not go to Britain to get his plane design ideas. The North American Aviation XB-70 Valkyrie (i.e., prototype was a culmination of the avero Arrow staff that left Canada subsequent to the demise of the Areo program.)
They were justifiably disgruntled & left Canada to become part of NASA. As such, the Valkyrie platform notably has the lines and technology evolving from the Arrow.
That's precisely why it looks like an enlarged (eg. A next generation Avero Arrow) with bigger wings & engines along with front-end canard flaps.

      @camdix3250 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your comment is lovely. The Arrow was a stunning achievement for Canada. The U.S. puts their great aviation acheivements into museums. We Canadians chopped up the Arrow into pieces. So sad.

    • @Hunting_Grt_whiteNorth
      @Hunting_Grt_whiteNorth ปีที่แล้ว

@camdix3250 FYI, the Canadian Prime Minister was ordered by the States to get rid of the Avero Arrow program & all its prototypes.
Or they threatened to pull out every American owned company that existed in Canada at the time.
They refused to let Canada achieve air superiority, which kind of makes sense as Canada was way to lax with technology at the time.
Like when we built the first of its kind -hydro foil P.T. boat.
That essentially could compete with (eg. Russian wig craft technology) at that time.
But of course, our government being so 😔ultra smart (eg.put it up on dry dock so everyone and their grandmother could take pictures of it). Have you noticed how many times our government literally shoots itself in the foot?

Your Mach conversion into km/h is not correct. F15 vs. MiG-31, you don't even have to calculate... Briefly, all you conversions are incorrect. How come?

The mig 31 had two ballistic missile boosters connected to it to try to catch the sr71. It did not catch it.

Should have skipped the russian ones, and included the F-22 and F-35, and if you have the X-15 you might as well include the Space Shuttle too, both are liquid fuel rockets with wings. Or a missile with a cockpit if ya prefer lol. ;)

@@allanullman7754 Do you mean the XB-70 Valkyrie? Nah that plane is American in the first place and way faster cooler than a Concord lol. I'm not really biased for America, I'm Canadian, I'm just biased against Russia lol. Screw Russia, well mostly just screw Putin is what I was really trying to say in the end. I don't see much similarity to the Concord, maybe just the canards but that's about it. The wings on the other hand are a dead ringer for the Avro Arrow, 100%!

Hello, I'm not sure if you are aware, and I'm not being disrespectful, but science deems the edge of the atmosphere, or the edge of space to be 100 km's above sea level, or aprox 62.5 miles up. 102,000 ft is aprox 19.3 miles up. A long way up to be sure, but not the edge of space
