Hey Jeff just a quick story about me and Zippos. I used to keep my Brass Zippo highly polished and while I played poker with the guys it was the only time I smoked, usually Cigars. The highly polished Zippo gave me an unfair advantage when I Dealt because I used the highly mirror polish to reflect the immage of the cards and thus knew what everyone had in their hand. Just another use for a zippo jst be sure to not win every hand or cheating will be suspected LOL I usually just waited for a large pot to collect on and let the little ones slide on by. I guess it is a good thing I dont play cards for money any more LOL.
I like this one a lot. You can drop it in your pocket and there's no fear of coins or keys scratching the finish... It only gets better IMO. Hell, you can even drop it on the ground, accidentally, of course :-)
Thanks for sharing. Didn't realize they made it like that. I just got the Realtree camo bc I liked the review you did. I also got a slim spectrum I really like. I also just painted one ivory and pistachio green with a white stone texted finish. Really liking the antique brass. Thanks.
Hi Jeff, I have a Zippo in this finish, this finish rubs off during normal usage within a couple of weeks, basically not worth buying! Reposting this as my first post has been either been lost in cyber space or withdrawn by person or persons unknown for some reason? Regards, Dazza.
Bought the same on Amazon, and have been debating if what I got is real or fake. It's good you showed the bottom. I thought that flat bottom indicated it was a fake but it was the markings: What I have has an "I" instead of a "J" and the stamping ins't consistent like what you have there. The insert is mark lightly with a "J". All other indicators passed the indicators I read from different website/sources. Thanks for sharing, Jeff. The 'zippo' I bought almost had me there, so back it goes to Amazon.
After the antique coating inevitably wears off, have you arrived at the raw brass construction of the Zippo, or is it another brass color coating on top of the raw brass?
I had this and carried it for about a month before the finish rubbed off then about a month later it gets tarnished so it looks nice again as you said.
Nice lighter. Have you ever seen their pipe lighters? I don't know if they still make them. I used to own one many years ago. They are absolutely cool. I haven't seen every one of your videos, for all I know, you already have one. If not, I think you would really dig it. If they can be found or had.
I got mine for the same reason it for the antique look and the antique finish was gone in three weeks not sure if it was because it was cheap product (got it from amazon for $16 new) or because I rubbed it off while doing tricks and using it.
Thanks for the review. I am just getting into the Zippos and just got my first one. I plan on getting some more as finances allow. I am hoping to see you do many more videos so I can learn more about the lighters. Thanks so much….Chris
Please see my other comment first. I just went & looked on google, but only briefly, I couldn't find the zippo pipe lighter like what I'm talking about. The one I had was cylinder shaped, about the size of a "fat" lipstick tube. It also sort of resembled a tiny lantern. It had a leather handle on one end & the rest was gold plated. You grabbed it at both ends and made a motion like you were trying to pull it apart. It would slide open, while striking the flint with the striker wheel, all in 1 motion. VERY COOL!!! Man, now I wish I still had it. I don't think I've ever seen one before or since. I gave it away, like a dummy, to a friend for his B-day a long time ago.
Please see my other comment first. I tried, but only briefly, to find a Zippo pipe lighter like the one I had. Mine was cylinder shaped, about the size of a lipstick tube, but fatter. It resembled a tiny lantern. It had a leather handle & the rest was gold plated. You grabbed it at both ends & pulled it like you were trying to pull it apart. The striker wheel would turn in the same motion to light it as it slid open to reveal the flame cage. VERY cool. This was back in the 70's. I haven't seen one before or since. Man, now I wish I still had it. The pipe lighters on ebay are NOTHING like I'm talking about. I gave it away, like a dummy, to a friend for a B-day present. He always hounded me for that thing. It would be quite a prize now. Anyone else out there know what I'm talking about?
I really like the antique finish, it nearly looks like it's been stonewashed which is good because I don't have to worry about the thing getting scratched - I hate when they get scratched.
hey jeff is there a warning about damaging the fake petina with lighter fluid if there is thats pretty important incase we over fill and some one casually had told me this but it would be nice if you could look and go into detail
you should do a review of a zippo that's a different material, like silver, gold or copper. i got lucky and found a brand new brushed copper zippo at a local smoke shop for $30, when they usually go for around $150

That's fuckin' bad ass dude!

Fucking awesome
That's a cool ass story to tell your kids someday
Heh, you cheating bastard.
Great look, except for the fact that it has a bright steel insert.

Yes, this is what I'm curious of, is the matte finish easily scratched?
@@scoville-3606 how can u scratch a scratched surface, d'oh

I have the same lighter. It started looking terrible so I polished it up to a mirror shine. Beautiful. Just gotta put some clear lacquer on it now.
Caleb Smith - Caleb, I did exactly the same with mine my friend!

I love the brass zippos. My first and only zippo(which was lost a long time ago) was a brass marlboro zippo from the 90s. :)
Thanks for the vid. :)
took you a while to upload a video today, usually i go home from school and i see that you have uploaded a couple of videos which makes my day :P

Ive been searching for this finish for the past year, crazy that it popped up here. Thanks!
nice zippo, wish it came the the brass insert though

Are the regular antique finished ones not stamped on the bottom either? That would be a cool little pair to have.
all three in the series should be flat bottomed
I saw you on tv today!!! on a comercial for outrageous acts of science
Like the use of snow as your backdrop Jeff!
i love stonewashed blades, and i love the antique silver zippo - so handsome.
that brass is sweet!
I have the antique silver plating one and it has lost the shining finish is it completely gone forever?
Depends if the plating is gone or just tarnished. If its tarnished you can polish it up. Otherwise you are shit out of luck.
I really like the antique finish, it nearly looks like it's been stonewashed which is good because I don't have to worry about the thing getting scratched - I hate when they get scratched.
Isn't the finnish meant to fade? The finnish on mine has almost completely gone.
yeah all the finishes will eventually wear, with this one its replaced by new scratches and patina
you're videos always present man, everything I'm interested in just a video away. Plus you post a lot of videos so there's always something thing new
hey jeff is there a warning about damaging the fake petina with lighter fluid if there is thats pretty important incase we over fill and some one casually had told me this but it would be nice if you could look and go into detail
I love the antique brass. I would really like one.
could you show us after youve put the new insert in, or post it on instagram
sure Ill post it on instagram later

THAT is VERY cool! I am a steampunk nut and that would look great in my steampunk collection :) Very nice :)
How cute
Antique zippos are my favorites, the only thing better than an antique zippo is one you've naturally aged yourself
And replica?
I love brass finish lighters.
The armour tumbled brass zippo I just got came with a brass insert
Man there's one on Amazon that's brass and an armor zippo its pretty sick
This isn't a cheap knock off is it?
Damn buylighters really hooked you up!
I just made a Zippo video, inspired by this - it has one with a Real antique finish on it :-D
Show use it with the brass insert
It's very classy, I love it!
Question: are antique classic? Or indifferent model?
Love the look. Freaking neat.
cool video jeff
Nice weathered look
Hi Jeff
That's a nice finish
had that one and lost it, but the finish rubbed off
My boss has the original brass zippo from I dunno earliest the 60s
It's not tarnish jeff.. it's patina.
That's a very nice zippo
Very is 168 and 1941b
hey that's my first zippo :3
sooo beautiful
replica?
No replica 100%! Classic or antiqeu. I do not too(((
Very cool.
:-)
This zippo is such a scam, the finnish was off of the zippo and on to my hands in no time, two days later it was completely gone.
Hello
maybe post a pic on instagram of this zippo with the brass insert?
It's on eBay for $15
May be. 168 armor and 1941B replica are best!
Nice zippo
168 and 1941B very nice
