As someone who worked for Din Tai Fung, I still STAN with their food. I love the craftsmanship and I don’t mind their price point. I pay for way more for way less quality in American and European restaurants. Taiwanese (not THAI) food is so underrated!
Din Tai is my place of choice for Dinner in Vegas when Buffets are either closed or inflated in price. I actually order Cucumber, Mushrooms, Baby Back Ribs for appetizers. Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Hot and Sour Soup and just one order of Soup Dumplings. I also order chocolate/sesame mochi and Mocha Smoothie. Don't neglect their other dishes cause I think they are better than the soup dumplings.
I'm from out of state in Texas. The only time I had Din Tai Fung in California was take out because we would have saved time on wait compared to dining in. It wasn't as good since it was a little dried out in the paper boxes. If you are willing to spend time waiting in line, I think the experience will be worth it.
I love crispy dumplings. I actually made dumplings with my mom one time but I didn't' know how to fold them so I just put the filling and my mom folded them. Chinese mom's know how to do anything pertaining to food
I miss dumplings!! Since we're concerned about COVID, we're relying on take- out. Did the dumplings stay warm or did they get cold by the time you ate them? They're best hot!

Mine came cold and lacked the soup from delivery so it didnt taste as good. I tried heating it up but its not the same as fresh. Mine barely had soup which was disappointing. My favorite dumplings in general are the ones my family make. No restaurants can top it. For xiao long bao i love this one place in nyc. I consequently passed by and tried it. I don't remember the place sadly. To me the xiao long bao is the best. Din tai fung is ok. I mainly go there for the noodles, but my friend loves the xiao long bao. However, my friend never tried the one in nyc so she doesnt understand my love for the one in nyc. Nice videos though

I’m bengali and that’s traditionally how bengalis used to sit and eat since they’d eat off of banana leaves while sitting on the ground :) I still think it’s super comfortable to sit like that while eating
I heard Din Tai Fung in the USA doesn't taste the same as in Taiwan. Stop drowning the dumpling in the sauce, it's like drowning a good burger in ketchup.
Sorry I've had much better than Ding Tai fung, they just made it more commercialized. Good for beginners but just be aware that there are better dumplings out there.

In Glasgow, we got 20 dumplings for £6 and they are delicious. THese ones here are a bit expensive but they do look bomb tho.

siewmai is actually cantonese, not taiwanese, so yea... din tai dung doesn't sell siewmai
Kathleen they do sell shumai, sticky rice and shrimp versions
