From Above: Sebago Lake | Assignment: Maine

As the second largest lake in Maine, Sebago is home to island communities, pristine beaches, summer camps, and world-class sport fishing; it even has a unique locks system connecting it to the larger chain of lakes in the area. Sebago Lake is also a vital water supply to Maine’s largest population base.

Love this! Been coming to Frye Island for 16 years now and have such great memories of floating around the lake.

Last winter I rushed to the shore to witness the lake in the heavy snow despite that the accumulation of snow was over my knees. Everything was so quiet that even the lake was frozen and slept, so I could only hear the sound of snowflakes falling on your shoulders. I have also seen the lake in the spring where the landscape ends its hibernation and revives. Just watching the periodic yet changeable motion of the clean waves and listening to the sound it clapping with each other could make me satisfied. I love the lake in the sunset most and a very famous ancient Chinese poem says 落霞与孤鹜齐飞，秋水共长天一色 that I feel exactly matches the scene. The lake is so beautiful and my English is so bad so the beauty of the scene is far beyond my English capacity to describe, yet thank you to all the people in Maine as you guys have been protecting the environment so well! Missed the lake! 😭
