I feel you Dapper, So many people don't understand the true essence of the Superman mythos or appreciate the story, character, and archetypes Kal-El is and represents. All of which make him and his story so special, unique, and through the right lens, relatable. I like you, have tried to hold my expectations but i have found it simply impossible after about my 50th viewing. Usually in this case i would hedge my bets but i'm all in on this one. June 13th 7pm. Snyder has weighted his trailer perfectly to touch on the points that matter for this story. It's basically perfect at this point. What they have done in the trailers is show what makes this story special in a new way. This is no joke, I now have trust that Snyder GET'S what this means...and as all of us Supes fans know..if you can nail the REAL story of Kal-El you are going to blow everyone away. I honestly don't think I have been this pumped for a film....ever. Great reaction dude.

I Had to fight back tears when pa kent was talking, and when he walks out of the fortress after "a ghost who never quite fit in." I think all the people watching this type of video have felt that at one point in their lives, then to see him triumphantly emerge from the cave finally embracing who he is.. it moved me deeply. I was a little bit in shock when i watched it the first time cause i didn't expect it to affect me that much. I'll admit i was ballin like a baby about the 5th time i watched!
I'm so happy they are making a sequel, the action was amazing. The only gripe i have with the film now is that the plot got a little iffy in the last 45 50 minutes, but jeeze what a difference the second viewing made. I think the pace of the film was too much the first time, but it made so much more sense the second time. I loved it. The acting is so damn amazing. I woud still add a little more of the backstory but gosh.. Best superman movie ever, 2nd best comic book movie ever other than TDK.

Jor El said 'IN TIME, they will join you in the sun", it is obvious that in the first movie, Superman is not going to be perfect. 33 years of his life, he has been trying to find himself and then one day to finally know his purpose he's not gonna do the greatest job. He did save the world though. And he did save Specific people..Man Of Steel was the greatest superhero movie, period..

I just saw the movie in 3D for the second time to give it another chance and my god.. i don't know what happened the first time, i think i just had this idea of what it was going to be and when it wasn't it shocked me. I didn't expect it to move so quick, now i think the movie was AMAZING. I missed a bunch of stuff the first time that helped the continuity of the story IMMENSELY! God it was great, i don't know what happened the first time but now.. i'd give it a 9/10!!!
I had the same reaction to this trailer. What made me emotional though, was the scene in the beginning where it shoes him giving up his son, when he was just a baby. That made me weep lol

Loved this. I can wait for the sequel. But, to be honest, I HATE the fact that is Superman sequel and everyone is talking about Batman. Is not anger, is more like...sadness. I really want Supes to get the fame and popularity a character like him deserves.
This is an old video. But I just LOvE this trailer so I sometimes go back and watch it. That big smile you get when he finally lifts off with the score hitting its peak is priceless. That's exactly why I watch it occasionally: to get that feeling. Man it's even better than the movie itself. Hope you liked it.

I agree, the movie didn't carry the emotional impact the trailer had. I wanted to see the journey of the character because that's a major part of his story.
It's strange, but as much as I'm really liking this version of Superman, I'm really starting to like his supporting cast even more. As you said, Russell Crowe is perfect, especially with his fatherly presence and voice, then there's Kevin Costner, who really makes us understand why Clark would've loved and respected him so much. Of course, Michael Shannon has been playing villains for a while and his turn here as General Zod is so menacing. I'm just glad June is around the corner.

Doesn't help that i'm 6'5 and usually wear glasses so i stick out in a crowd like a sore thumb lol. I think Cavill as supes is about as good as it gets looks wise.. I have tried to explain why this is important as a story so many times over the years... And I understand the arguments against Superman because of the media that has underserved the story so much. In my opinion this is the most important and HUMAN story of all.

I totally had the same reaction you did, and was crying the third time I saw it. But I saw the movie today and I feel that the it is different from this trailer. The story of Kal-El is intensely emotional...and the movie evokes those emotions perfectly, but doesn't let them run their course...did you feel that? There was too much happening in a short span of time, and mostly I felt like pausing the movie so I could finish feeling what I was feeling before i saw more. What do you think?
I think that what was in the movie was good, but a lot more could have been done. Flashbacks weren't the best option in my opinion for the first movie, getting the story straight and detailed to start off a massive trilogy if possible would have been nice. But to be fair no matter what opinion anyone has of it you can't say anything bad about the action or visuals, they were class.

I really enjoyed the movie, but as many of people have pointed out there were flaws. Very minor flaws in my opinion, but I agree with you entirely that this movie is in my top two comic book movies of all time alongside TDK. Yea, the film was great but wasn't quite the masterpiece the trailer made it seem like it was going to be. I wanted him finally putting on the suit and embracing who he is to be the climactic moment rather than an after thought. I wanted even more of his journey and struggles to becoming superman. The film did feel rushed the first time i saw it but the second time it felt really good. I've seen it 3 times now and i'd give it a solid 8/10 and it gets better every time, but could have been a 10
