Ouwehands Dierenpark Zoo | Visit | Netherlands

Hi guys! We recently had a short break in the Netherlands celebrating our anniversary. My wife has Dutch relatives, which we visited and after that we had time to enjoy some sight seeing. As we have a 5 year old we got recommendations of nearby attractions that might interest her. The zoo in Rhenen was one of them. We have visited some zoos in the UK, Bulgaria and South Africa and this one is definitely one of the best ones we have visited.
It was really large in size similar to a safari park and the animals had lots and lots of space in their beautiful landscaped enclosures. None of the animals seemed bored or unhappy. No pacing up and down. They all looked quite content and very relaxed. We really enjoyed watching the pandas eating their favourite food.
The entire zoo including the enclosures, eating areas, walkways etc. was kept in pristine condition and not like some zoos we have seen in the past.
You could spend the whole day there and won't feel bored. The is outside play areas for the kids plus a huge indoor complex. The indoor one has various activities from water fun to rope and sand pit fun. Catering for very young toddlers upto early teenagers.
Lots of nice cafes and restaurants too if you feel thirsty or hungry. Lovely gift shops and souvenirs if you fancy a bit of shopping.
