    Steve has it wrong...a little known historical tidbit about the necklace ICE wore in that poster. It WASN'T an eagle, it was a seagull and it was an inspirational piece that he wore after reading the book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull." ICE was so inspired by this story, that of an independent seagull who separated himself from the crowd to practice and refine his talents. Being George's biggest fan, I actually still wear a gold seagull to this day...I, too, was totally inspired by this book

    So smooth lol. One of, if not THE prettiest basket all players of all time. Could score from anywhere on the court. George Gervin would be just as nasty today as he was in his glory days.
    Book that.
    P.S. Maybe im a weirdo, but I always thought Robin Roberts was a hottie back in the 90s.

    • @coolmod7731

      @@1994g0 It's not his fault he never won a ring. Winning a chip all depends on the other teams and how they are constructed in the league at a particular time.
      That's like Michael Jordan never won a ring in the 1980's because of the Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, Pistons etc...
      All those teams were dynasties at the time and his Bulls team couldn't compete with those juggernaut teams.
      That's like Barry Sanders who played football, he never won a ring, but you can't sit up here and say he's not an all time NFL great or considered as arguably the best running back ever because he is.
      Actually, I would take Barry Sanders over Emmitt Smith (who has three rings) and day of the week!
      Those Cowboys teams of the 90's had way better players and talent than those Detroit Lions teams Barry played on but that's not his fault.
      It's really not the actual player himself, but that players team, and how they're built and the competition of the league along with other teams during that era.
      That ultimately dictates the outcome of a player winning a championship.

      @@coolmod7731 But Gervin did not win a championship in college, high school or the Pro leagues. The Ice Man, while a great scorer, just was not a championship player. That excludes him from the All Time Greats circle.

      I`m from the east Side of Detroit.I watched George Gervin play from age 15 until he retired. He was a nice person and a great hooper.But he was not so great that he carried his teams to victory in High School like Reggie Harding or Spencer Haywood did.

    Humm, the year Gervin came in 2nd place to Bill Walton in MVP voting, Walton only played in 49 games that year 😮

    • @edwells4769
      @edwells4769 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True facts right here. Walton got 40% of the vote to Gervins 33%. Walton hadn't played enough games to even be on the leaderboards for stats. He WAS playing at a level deserving of it, while also coming in 2nd the year before to Kareem. I think it was an MVP award given for the prior seasons playoffs and the ~60 games he played that year.
      I don't think Walton deserved it due to missing so many games.

    • @citizenscapital2458
      @citizenscapital2458 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@edwells4769, ironically, that may have been Walton's best season. Gervin went on to have several more successful years. However, that 77-78 year was an extremely strong year for Gervin. At 33% of the MVP votes, there were many others who thought Gervin was the MVP during that 77-78 year........the year the Iceman cometh.
      Gervin, Doc & Mo Malone were the 3 ABA players who came in an took the NBA by storm.
