I have always loved bikes, because when I am riding I only concentrate on the bike and my surroundings for safety reasons, which means all the bad things in life are blocked out, great therapy that I have benefitted from for 44 years now, Great post and thanks for talking about mental health issues this week... Bikes are Brilliant therapy as you and many others will already know..

Bikes , cant live with out one and regards mental health i reckon we all suffer at some point in our lives so if your reading this and struggling please be strong , talk about it , get help because the first step to helping yourself out is talking to others about how you feel 🙏

Great content yet again, highly enjoyable. Speaking as a qualified meditation and yoga teacher I can confirm that the act of riding a motorcycle is indeed a form of what’s referred to as an “active meditation” amongst professional teachers. There’s an often quoted saying that you’ll never see a motorcycle parked outside a therapists office. Usually the hardest thing to do is get the motivation to actually get ready and get out on your bike, but if you can manage to do that and go for a ride you will be feeling better by the time you return home.

Hey thanks for your response. I agree with all you said and it was surreal as I didn't expect you to respond to my comment. I do definitely talk about how I feel in more detail to certain people. And yes immersing my self into passions is what I try to do to generate more positivity, what is hard sometimes is that dark wave preventing the impetus to begin feeling enjoyment or engagement with life, it's like a switch. I recently purchased (very grateful and lucky in specific circumstances) a Gen 3 Hayabusa and I am falling in love with it. At first it felt huge and intimidating and I felt like i had made a mistake, factor in general lack of positive emotions about things and I wanted to sell it, but I kept using it and got used to the weight and ergos and now all the qualities have risen. It's such a unique bike that feels amazing to use and is definitely one that you grow into as you own it longer term. That plus tank grips solve everything. Our other bikes are a Yamaha R3 and partner has a Honda CB400.
    Thanks again. Enjoy life!

Great vid. I personally find riding really therapeutic as I enjoy the solitude, distraction & excitement it brings. I hate the idea of riding in a big group or connecting my phone up to the bike etc. It's pure escapism for me which is priceless.

Fair play for addressing the last question. It’s not an easy one to address. But bikes most certainly are a brilliant outlet and cross-communicating platform for people to connect. And if someone is feeling down and out, its usually a connection of some sort that they need.

Hello Michael thank you for the wonderful videos especially Q&A where I am learning so much - greatly appreciated!
My question if you wouldn’t mind answering is this…..Regarding the 200 vs 190 tyre size rear debate on modern bikes. I havent been a fan of the bigger size at all. I had a 2016 Ninja H2 with the 200 rear end that after it was replaced I put on a 190 and right away I noticed ( albeit subtle) some agility and nimbleness that wasnt there before. I did use a different brand tyre so it probably wasnt a fair comparison, but still felt the 190 handled better. I understand that manufacturers do this to increase the wow factor when viewing the bike from the rear.
However, Now I am waiting to pick up my new 2024 BMW M1000R and with that rear end being a 200 I am back in the same dilemma. My question is this, is it advantageous to go back to a 190 tyre size with such a bike? Unlike the H2 as you know ( which has limited electronic intervention) sophisticated electronics BMW has on the M1000R have obviously taken into account the whole package and parameters including the 200 rear end to have the bike working to its utmost. Can you tell me your thoughts and experience on the 200 vs 190 debate & if its valid, and whether its likely that changing the 200 back to a 190 on the M1000R may not be a good idea ? Can you expand on this?
    Thanks so much 👍

I test ride a MT 10 SP this year. Yes some wheelies were involved. The Yamaha shop where I did the test is own by a long time friend. And he told me that half of the MT10 customers are ex MT09 owners. And 4/5 of this guys are coming back to an 09 after a year because the 10 is too much. Sending a big hug to the guy with the last question. Motorcycle is a great therapy. It saved my life multiple times. Cheers from 🇫🇷

Thanks Neevesy! My bike is therapy too. She's (Honda Blackbird) an old girl, but no tech, and an exercise in being unplugged.
Scary and fast enough to make life tangible and precious, demanding enough to make me concentrate in the moment and forget the trials of life which really have taken their toll, pretty enough to look after, and cheap enough to not affect my other responsibilities. Ive missed it over the last few years of sitting in the corner of thr garage until this year when i finally got her mot'd and taxed. Its made a difference.

Hey Neevesy, big fan of your TH-cam channel and have been following your career in the UK papers (old school) for about 20 years now. Loving the more modern video-style journalism available now, it's a lot more engaging and I'm sure all your fans appreciate the responses you give. Quick question - I ride an 07 Street Triple in the UK and find it a solid all-rounder for our roads, but may be moving to Italy sometime during 2024. Always loved the styling of Italian bikes and wondered what an equivalent would be to enjoy here... F3800 looks interesting, as does the Monster 821 but open to any useable Italian bikes that have modest performance without breaking the bank. Cheers and keep it up! Rich

Neevesy, something I've always wondered when you were answering the question on the 675 R on track days: you mentioned the 600s are not much slower around a track than the 1000s because on smaller bikes you will be faster in the corners. Why is this? Is there something inherently different about the smaller bikes that make them faster through corners or is it simply a difference in *how* you should ride the bike, as opposed to what the bikes are capable of? It seems like someone on an R1 should be capable of carrying the same corner speed as an R3 if the rider chooses to ride the bike in that way. Thanks and love the videos. Never miss one.

Question…….Hello Michael, I’m sure I speak for all the viewers by saying what a great job that you do. I really enjoy sitting down with a cuppa listening to you pass on your knowledge and experience in such a modest, humble and relaxed way. Haven’t heard you discuss this subject in detail but if you have then I apologise…….. It’ll be great to hear you give your advice and guidance on how a track novice can start out with getting on track. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for years but have always found a reason not to commit. For context….. I currently have a 2021 Tenere 700 and a 2020 MT09. Both fantastic bikes that give me the enjoyment of the different styles of riding they offer. However, I have an itch that I want to scratch which is to take the MT09 on track. If you would be so kind, it’ll be great to hear your take on everything track related……. kit, insurance, best way to get your bike to track, staying overnight at tracks, type of track days, groupings etc… A long question but one that I would love to hear your response to. Keep up the great work!

Rev matching: been riding 12 years and never had a bike with a quickshifter/blipper yet.
Rev matching is a very satisfying skill on it's own but I always did my braking separately from blipping. Until I watched 'Rotary Norton onboard, Pure Noise! Manx GP 2022' vid on TH-cam.
The camera on Richard Wilson's throttle hand as he braked with his index/middle finger whilst blipping on downshifts finally sorted it all out in my head - and subsequently totally transformed my fast road riding for the better!👍
    Cheers again Neevesy! 🍻

MT-09sp is a bloody fun bike, and 2024 new changes seem to check all the right boxes. About the ultimate hooligan, from MT-09sp, 690smcr (701sm) or Hypermotard is the only way to increase the fun without compromising maneuverability.

Went from a Z900 to a 1290 SDR Evo and you're pretty much spot on. The 1290 is a blast but it is terrifying in a way. It's expensive so you don't want to break it but it's very easy to do if it's your first "liter" class bike. I can clutch up wheelie no problem but I was never worried about looping it out on the Z. That is not the case for the Duke. The level of care, even for a good rider, is very high which can detract from the experience. Still I wouldn't sell it. I absolutely love the Duke just know what you're getting into.

Hello Neevesy, first of all, thank you for providing great content. Although I worked as a test editor for a motorcycle magazine in Turkey between 2005 and 2010, after losing my beloved colleague, I also took a break from my beloved motorcycle career for about 10 years. Even though I knew almost all the motorcycles of the period I worked, when I decided to start riding again, I saw that the whole motorcycle universe had evolved in a strange way. Due to my addiction to inline-4 engines and my passion for pure riding, for now, I continue with the CB650R. Although the new generation motorcycles are fun and equipped with many gimmicks, I can't feel the passion of the 90s-2000s in them. Do you think I have become a boomer now? What is your perspective on the new generation (especially middle-class nakeds)? Can you compare them to the naked bikes of the 90s-2000s? Thank you very much...

@neevesybikes really enjoyed this one, actually since lockdown during COVID you've made some great content, so thanks for continuing to share, always enjoyed and appreciated 👍🏻
So my question, and it kind of ties in nicely with your intro regarding launch events, there are rides when everything just gels, speed is good, braking, tipping in, picking up throttle and chasing speed seems effortless and super smooth, and then there are rides when nothing seems to go right, braking is too early or worse, too late, timings for turning in are way off and by the time you're back on the throttle its time to shut off again, ready to mess up the next corner. Is this just us mere mortals or do the professionals, like yourself, suffer with this, and if so how do you overcome it? Worst case scenario for me is, I turn round and go home in a huff and try again another day, rather than risk it going very wrong! I'm assuming that's not an option when you've a job to do?! Thanks again for the great content, keep em coming 🏍️🙂👍🏻

Regarding going up to a bigger bike from the 675R - follow the advice you got.
Spend money on training, get the suspension adjusted for you weight - with an initial setup for track and another for the street.
The straight speed should not worry you - I went quite often to trackdays for two years with my ER6n before I moved on to a GSXR 750, and finally bought a ZX-6 R track only bike last year.
Stick with the 675 until you are really fast, the consider what to do - but spend your money on riding :-)

Being an MT-09 owner. I don’t think there’s a better bike for wheelies. I think there’s less scary bikes for wheelies. So if you’re looking for something less violent and you think a faster bike will be less violent. I’d say look more in the direction of an MT-07 or super-moto. The MT-09 will clutch up in 3rd gear which is pretty high speed for wheelies. So I’d either focus on getting better at slow speed wheelies or get something less likely to loop out doing wheelies at low speeds so you can get better. I suck at wheelies so I’ll enjoy riding out my wheelies through 2nd gear doing overtakes on cars so they think I’m a cool kid 😎

Hi there, thanks so much for the videos and sharing of your experience. Apologies, but this is another tyre question. I have a 2022 Gen 4 S1000RR and have been riding for over 40 years, but I am not sure what tyres to fit next. The OE S21’s seem a little vague from the couple of rides I have had so far. I usually fit Pirelli’s and my old CBR600 F3 is fitted with with Rosso 4’s. What I’d like is tyres that allow fairly quick warm up, and grip for fast road riding, with the ability to do track days too. I am tempted to go Super Corsa’s but am a little concerned about getting them up to temperature on the road. Thoughts please.

Neevesy, I posted a question about changing the ergos of the Speed Triple 1200 RS a few weeks ago but you never answered it. I realize it might have been a bit too specific (it was about making it more comfortable for street riding by fitting Apex 4in risers adjustable for reach, height and angle), so I'll generalize it: why aren't manufacturers giving us the chance to refine the ergos of our sportsbikes? The slightly adjustable footpegs of some models is nowhere near enough. If you could easily adjust your clip-ons for reach, height and angle, together with proper adjustable footpegs, I bet a lot more sportsbikes would be sold. The fairing clearance issues would be a simple matter of (re)design. Why is this not a thing?

    • @TheItalianZone
      @TheItalianZone 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've wondered this as well. You would think a bike that has customizable ergos would be more appealing, I suppose if it would make the manufacturer more money they would do it.
I think Kawasaki makes a cruiser that allows you to chose the position of the handlebars and the foot position as well but not necessarily able to make smaller adjustments.
      Good question!

      @michelboots7133 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I've done it, first on a 2004 r1 , now on my 2007 r1. but the clip-ons are not that simple, you need to re-route the gas cables and electric wires, sometimes get a longer clutch cable and brake lines. and especially the latter you have to have the correct length or it will block the steering when to short or rub against the fairing when to long. keeps you busy for a day finding the right position. it is to individual to come up with an easy solution for everybody, but if you are willing to invest the time effort and money the result is great.

@@michelboots7133 That seems like an extremely easy fix for the manufacturers: build the bikes with slightly longer cables, tie them up neatly and make it easy to untie them. The 15cm of additional cable length won't make any difference in terms of manufacturing cost, but it would definitely mean more sales once people realized riding a sportsbike / superbike doesn't have to come with unforgiving ergos.

@@motozest7856Increasing the handlebar / clip-on height will end up putting less weight over the front, won't it? And these powerful superbikes need weight over the front wheel, do they not?

Hey Michael, love these 'thanks for asking' videos. I've just had to sell my beloved Triumph Street Triple 765R but soon hope to be able to get back in the saddle. This time tho I'm looking for something that can do adventure riding/ weekends away and am looking at the amazing new BMW 1300GS or the BMW S1000XR.... I'm never going do to any off-road riding, so I wonder if the S1000XR with panniers might be a better or more fun option. Which one would you choose?

Great content Neevsey especially on riding tips , I was wondering any tips on riding on steep downhills with turns I always reel I’m loading the front to much even though I use a lower gear lock my knees into the tank and try and keep my body weight off the bars on my GSXR750 any tips appreciated.

Hi Neevsey, what's the best country to visit for some winter riding? Looking at Mallorca or Tenerife, but can't decide!

Very sorry to hear that you had to go to Calafat. Who on earth would launch a bike there?

Hello Michael. I did track training at Donington this year. Thanks for your tips. For more track riding I have now purchased a 2002 SV650 and am now upgrading the suspension for the same cost as the bike. Does this make sense? Bueno or no bueno? Thanks. Gary.

Always love/appreciate your work Neevesy 👍 Do you think an XR69 replica, like the Classic Suzuki bike (Michael Dunlop rode to victory) would make a good road bike ? I have a pretty well modified gsxr1100 and absolutely love it.....but I've often wonder about the XR69 ?

They’re lovely looking bikes, but would be brutish for the road. The tank’s as wide as a small county! 😄

Hi Neevesy, hope all is well
Thought I would ask, what cases do you use for taking your motorcycle gear abroad with you?
As im going Australia for 6 months and hoping to get a motorcycle whilst im out there, rather than buy new gear out there, I wanna take my stuff Ive got now with me, just so I save money and time

Should not be pulling wheelies, skidding & stoppies on the road. Get an off roader & go up the woods. 😮
