    I used mine on Epm2, epl5,6,7 but now it found home on e-m10 mark II brown version and it just looks and feels gorgeous. Really nice lence with interesting halo when shot against the sun. Love the clicking aperture ring

    A very good video. The price is insane to get a retro looking and handling lens (for my Pen-F)! Only for that feeling it's worth the money. Thanks Jimmy!

    The layout and feel of the aperture ring are amazing on these. I love the 50mm version you also reviewed. I had already picked up the Meike 25mm f1.8 or I'd jump on this. I wish the Meike had a soft click on the aperture as i definitely find myself bumping it on occasion. Love the image quality and personality on that lens, but I'd probably get this instead if it had been out

    x no lenshood included/needed?
    x very nice sample photo's, mr Red
    x weak contrast (4:19, 6:17, 6:30) & unsharp?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! All the quoted bits were shot against the sun, most lenses would behaved the same. If you want the sharpest results, you need to use ND films from my backside, plus fill lights to balance the levels. No lens hood, and I didn't feel the need either.

    Hello, thank you always for your attention and posts about the world of photography. I have a doubt. I would like to use this lens with my PEN F but I would like to know if there is any configuration to be done like in other cameras (shooting without a lens) or is it enough to adapt and take the photo logically in manual focus? If so, where can I find it on the menu? Thank you for your attention and all the knowledge passed on. THANKS.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Rodney for watching. You don't need anything to use any manual lenses on Olympus/OM cameras. But most will need to manually engage any focus assist, such as peaking or magnify, I usually assign one custom button to do that. Since PEN-F's EVF is quite small, I usually use magnify to confirm focus. Another thing to look out for is to set the IBIS manually too. You can do that by pressing 'OK' button to engage super control pane and select IBIS, then click 'INFO' to manually change the focal length to use correct stabilisation.

    I really would like to know your opinion on this lens versus the 7Artisans 25mm f/1.8 for MFT. They seem to be very similar lenses, and not much in it price-wise either. Have you any thoughts?

  • @Spacesharkie
    @Spacesharkie ปีที่แล้ว

    How would you compare this lens to 7artisans' 25mm f/1.8 manual lens? In case you happen to have able to try that lens

  • @kieranmartin6030
    @kieranmartin6030 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    7artisans & Meike have very similar lenses at similar prices. Do you know if there is same IQ. I've also read that quality control can be appalling. It can be pot luck between getting a good lens and a stinker.

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had many problems with any budget lenses so far. TT is probably the best built amongst the low-end brands. 7Artisans comes second, then Meike and finally Pergear. I am not sure about being lucky or not (or may be they checked before they sent lenses to me), but if they are bad, I usually would say it. In terms of IQ, again, Pergear usually comes last. TT is best in the budget category, Laowa is the more premium and usually best.

    Hey Jimmy, how do you feel this lens would pair with your Pen-F? I just received one and while im using the Oly 17mm 1.8, I prefer the 25(50)mm fov and was thinking about picking this up. Does having this lens with the camera in shutter priority make it feel like more of an analog setup?

    • @Red35Photography
      @Red35Photography  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's fine, and well balance on Pen-F. Very slim and light metal lens and yes, it feels like an analogue setup no matter which mode you are in.

    It is a manual focus lens right? How does one get focus breathing in video with a manual focus lens? Maybe I’m confused.

    • @rumperdumper
      @rumperdumper ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Focus breathing happens when you adjust focus. Doesn’t matter if it’s autofocus or manual. Focus breathing doesn’t need to involve jitters, if that’s what you’re thinking of.

    • @evidencebased1
      @evidencebased1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rumperdumper no, I thought focus breathing occurs when the camera’s autofocus system “hunts” during video, no? What causes the breathing during video with manual focus? Sorry that I am confused. Thanks.

    • @wtfiswiththosehandles
      @wtfiswiththosehandles 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@evidencebased1 I know it's been a year and you probably already found your answer, but... Focus breathing means that actual angle of view (focal length) changes slightly while changing focus. It's never been a real problem when shooting stills, but is a problem when shooting video.

      @@Red35Photography It is a geniune question Jimmy. When something sounds too good to be true it often isn't. For instance: Manufacturing lenses is a highly enegy consuming business. Energy and transportation costs have risen dramarically. So, how can you produce a lens and ship it all over the world for $55 with the current energy prices? How do they do it?
