14:09 yeah I noticed this when seeing this movie on VHS (I used to rent it as a kid) compared to DVD, they cut it down simply because what I understand is that the "House For Rent" sign had a phone number visible, but it wasn't a 555- fictional number. So they had to remove shots of the number seen in front of the camera trimming the scene down. You'll have to find a VHS copy and have it fully restored to HD on blu-ray just to have that scene intact
Honestly its only thing of these I felt shouldn't have been cut. The vegas stuff feels like too much of a side track and doesn't really add anything to the movie, but giving Stan a bit more depth instead of just being a generic bully/asshole would have been good.

RUN DOWN HOUSE SCENE: Yes, the original theatrical cut did have that scene but it was later removed due to the "House for Rent" sign that had a real phone number that people were calling.
Movies are a time capsule of the times they are made in. Looking back we can see the culture of the time, all the good and the bad. That’s so important.

I love the fact the Booger character is Snot from American Dad. I love it! And if Revenge of the Nerds is considered an indecent movie, then they best not watch any of the Porkey's movies. They would really have a fit! 😂
@buddymckane1179 Most certainly! The part he has in the movie Better off Dead along side John Cusack is one I enjoy. He snorts the line of "Pure Snow" and is like "The left side of my brain is numb! I can't feel my arm!!" When Seth McFarland got him to voice Snot on American Dad. He must have had Curtis in mind for that part a very long time. He even has a real life similarity to Curtis. When I saw Revenge of the Nerds back when I was like 10 yrs old (That was 1988 😒) Booger was my favorite character from the movie. The scene of Lewis finding the sign with the phone number on it is also on Laserdisc version. It was removed from later versions of the film because of new laws regarding showing phone numbers on film.
Thanks for posting, I never knew about those deleted scenes. Interesting stuff! Let me start by saying, I was 17 when ROTN was released. So I am not among those who are offended by it, even though I can see how some of those scenes that we once considered "harmless fun" would now be viewed differently. I don't think it should be "banned" or "cancelled", but I think the argument you make @15:01 thru 16:50 contains some apples-to-oranges comparisons. Yes, "Nightmare on Elm Street" has a child killer and "Star Wars" has a fascist - but neither of those examples of things done by the HEROES of the film. I think *that* is the problem people have with ROTN; the fact that the "good guys" are engaging in some behavior that a mature person would consider pretty damn sleazy (even though, at the time, it was just considered "boys will be boys" humor - especially by us teenage boys). And when something like rigging a camera in a girls locker room/bed room is presented as harmless fun, or that tricking a girl into sex results in that girl falling in love with you, I think it is very possible that someone *could* try to copy that behavior. The thing I don't understand is: if what you are saying is true (that ROTN has been somehow banned or made unavailable for viewing), why would they be singling out this one film? There are DOZENS (hundreds?) of films from that era of the "teen sex comedies" that had similar behavior. "Animal House" and "Porky's", just to name two, have the heroes peeping at naked girls, etc. So, why are those available to see, if ROTN is not? Is it bc ROTN is now a Disney property? If that is the case, then I guess the reason is that the owner doesn't want such films on their channel. Which is unfortunate, but I guess it's their right. In the end, I hope you see that I'm just debating here - I'm not suggesting that ROTN should be "cancelled", etc. I just think the argument you laid out has some holes in it. That didn't stop me from enjoying your video, though (or ROTN)! 👍

Mr Minty is the best! 👍 seems like he would be fun to hangout with and a good friend 😊
Brian Tochi went on to play Leo in the TMNT movies, dude is a great actor
About a year ago I came across this movie on a non-subscription cable channel on weekday afternoon. What surprised the most is that it was completely unedited. It had all the language, nudity, etc...
0:28 - is the "Comedic Ars" a typo, or a play on words? 😄
0:28 MINTY COMEDIC ARS is the hot new fraternity on campus.
Thought I was the only one who saw that 🤣🤣🤣
14:30 my VHS copy had this scene. I still wonder why it was cut.
Oh wow. I think I recognize (and stayed at) the resort where the cut scene was filmed. Looks a lot like El Conquistador...
Current name is the Loews Ventana in Tucson.
Betty Childs 😍
Your impression of Eddie Murphy's laugh was legit
This movie was quite a shock seeing it for the first time when I was a kid, it was one of my childhood's most memorable films ever😅
One of my favorite 80s flicks
Back when movies could be made AND be funny, and not worry about hurting someone's feelings, because we all knew that it was a COMEDY.......thank you for the behind the scenes of this all time classic movie!
My Mum taped this in the 80’s and I’ve probably watched it a thousand times, and it too has the Nerds marching proudly to the house, but because it was on TV scenes like the ‘pan down I want to see bush’ scene was cut out
NERDS!!!!! One of my favorites from the 80's.
This movie is a classic the deleted scenes can be found here on TH-cam on the dvd the scene where louis finds their house was trimmed creating a jumpcut as inhad revenge of the nerds on vhs
This was back when Tucson was a popular spot to film. 😔 Side note: Jefferson Darcy. 😅
Hamlet 2 was a fantastic movie shot in Tucson
I love watching this
I totally forgot about this movie. The 80s kicked ass!
Yes I have seen that part where they found a house and march there with the sign. I think it was some original release not just theater. Like 80s HBO is the first time I have seen the movie and it was there.
Great video like always and excellent commentary about illogical adults who can't differentiate things in movies from reality. Anyways gotta go, time to fly out an office window since I watched Superman do it in a movie so flying must be real. LOL
7:25 Unless I stand corrected, the Television Version back in the day had this scene where they were rockin the Tribal Gear 🤔
I assume as Gilbert N. Lewis, the renowned physical chemist. I can't believe Minty didn't mention Marcy's husband as Stan! 😮
STRANGE FACT:
Eddie Murphy's laugh became so iconic it made him self conscious and he trained himself not to laugh like that anymore
I was in grade 2 when I saw this..... Ya was a bit young. Funny as hell though! Thanks Minty!
Yeah, my parents let me watch any movie I wanted. I never picked any that were really bad. Well, back then I didn't really know what stuff was considered bad.
