  • Remember that Air Seeder we went and got last summer? Well we finally got a chance to fix on it. We got it in the shop and got to work, and boy did it need some work. Over half of all the gauge wheels needed attention. New bushings and bearings, yeah we've all been there. I know it might bother some people but I keep referring to the “arms” of the row units as “shanks” yes I know I’m an idiot. We did manage to get some seed in the ground Barely and Peas to go with new seeding alfalfa. It looks like it worked pretty good, hopefully. Thanks for watching.

You must be able to set different seeding rates for the barley and peas? Is it at the same planting depth? And when seeding alfalfa do you use a brillon seeder?

Co-op broadcast it on along with fertilizer then we drug it in. The cart has meters you can change the lbs/acre for each bin. I set the depth real shallow.

@@farmerintheboot4089 I straight seeded alfalfa...and kept it in hay for 4 years. How long will that field be in?? Pasture ? Chop than graze?

At least 3 I’d say probably more if it doesn’t turn dry. Last field was in alfalfa for 8 years. We’ll cut the barely and peas and bale it.
