“Sure then I want a whole pizza and a caviar please” “Oh you can’t provide the that for us ? But you just said it’s about my choice and I chose to have that food. Unbelievable”
✈Awesome video of this B.A, day in the life., of behind the scenes. Was impressed to watch all the people involved in the running of a airline during our changing time's.The Boeing 787 Dreamline is a work of art in a flying machine, i remember when i was a kid how much i loved the BOAC Boeing 747 and it's outside painted livery look., i have been on B.A back in 1986 / 1987 from LHR to the U.S in business class & economy.
When I flew BOAC as a child, from Toronto to Manchester, we had to pass the what does BOAC mean quiz, to get our travelling wings from the flight attendant. The stuff you remember
The answer to your question is: The guy in this video. 'Cheap Seats Cruz' was the worst thing to happen to BA in years. He cut, slashed and ruined the carrier with his policies having many flee from the carrier. Forcing fares up to cover lower pax #s as he raced to provide a LCC service with full service carrier pricing. I think it was nearly universal amongst passengers & staff the joy when he left. Although with the coof then showing up it's doubtful it'll ever recover things fully. (( NOT to say BA hadn't made mistakes before he came along. Simply that he opened those wounds deeper and worse))
The science behind the taste of food when flying is cool and all but I gotta be honest, Idk if _curry_ is the ideal thing to serve while trapped in a small tube in the air
Absolutely brilliant! British Airways has been my favorite airline for years. Although I don't travel much any more, I was riveted to everything going on in this presentation. I remember with passion my many BA flights from YVR and SFO to LHR. Best to all of you at British Airways. I am really looking forward to viewing the next three episodes. So well done!
Long gone is the time of classy and prestigious national airlines. When they had office in every important cities with model aircraft in their livery showcasing and branding their company. Now they all became low cost carriers without any prestige left.
Ahhh I miss the 747s, shame they have retired now, I remember when I used to see these beauties fly over my house, now it is all being scrapped, Ba should keep the 747 next to the Concorde at Heathrow. I remember going on G-BNLL to Delhi and G-CIVE and also G-BYGB and G-BYGA when I went to go to LA. I was meant to go on G-BYGG when we were going to Mexico City but it got cancelled in 2017
I loved the convenience of the route to Kansai for my work travel, but I’ve never been able to get the Japanese meal choices in business, always load too little
“.....sometimes the food has not been brilliant “....that is a MAJOR understatement. Fortunate to travel business class for work for many years. BA food was “ memorable”.... memorable because it was sooooooooo BAD. Hope this video is less b/s and real action for change....
19:05 Shame on you still putting those miserable seats on the new, nice and shiny airplanes. How much time did it take to a massive marketing team to find that positive sentence to put in Gavin's mouth??? He visibly almost throws up after saying that.
We have always had a good experience with British Airways, we travel Premium Economy, everyone from BA has been very nice and efficient. I love British Airways.
I miss the days when flying was fun. The planes were clean, you were treated nicely, people knew how to dress properly and knew how to behave,,,,,, Today it "Cattlecar in the sky
I completely agree. I remember the pre-Schengen flights in Europe with proper food and silver wear. Then everything when downwards. Since 9/11 you can't even bring your own stuff. If I wanted a Sandwich, I go to Subway. Plus you can't just pay cash on a lot of Airlines. Second, Airlines do not consider how much you have actually already traveled. When I fly to Europe (I live in the States and not too far away from a big Airport) the Adventure still takes close to 24 hours until you arrive at your destination. Flying is an absolute hassle. I used to have quite a few frequent flyer miles and even flew Concorde. Today, nothing gets me on a Plane, unless there is absolutely no alternative. I can understand that for the Holiday Makers, it may still be exciting. On my end, I wear shoes without laces, so I get through security as fast as possible. If one travels frequently, that is an absolutely annoying process. Same is Passport Control at a lot of Airports where you can't sit down anywhere or get any refreshments and the wait can be long and you are already tired and upset.
Ah yes, those were the days. "The planes were clean", especially for us in the "none smoking section" directly behind the smoking section. Made the long haul flights a bundle of fun!!!
I hate it when they try and treat us like we are idiots with this BS. "It's not about cost cutting, it's about choice. Some shorthaul passengers actually do not want to pay for food" Well of course not because with the fkg price you charge for a ticket we expect it. It's about the only thing we look forward to even if it is crap.
I can't help but wince when a European airline goes for Boeing rather than Airbus. I realize that there are many factors to consider, but still can't help it...
Boeing are cheaper and every airline likes the ability to play one off against the other. BA used to be exclusively Boeing for longhaul and assumed they got a great deal as a ‘preferred’ customer…until seeing what American carriers were paying. Anyhow, having flown both, I am not one little bit disappointed that I’ll never fly a Boeing again…if I can help it. Airbus is a superior product and this is reflected in the purchase and operating costs.
See I got confused when I heard that as G-BOAC was the tail number of one of the Concordes that flew to JFK. I had no idea that BOAC was an airline way back when. I snook into the hangar with G-BOAB in it but have never been lucky enough to fly in one.
BA thinks Customer Satisfaction is an important customer metric?? It is proven that 'satisfied customers' defect! They are measuring the wrong thing. They need to ask one question only: How likely are you to recommend BA to a friend or business colleague? Then measure the Net Promoter Score. It is required teaching at Harvard university. Do keep up BA!!
This was clearly pre-covid, BA does not fly to 200 cities around the world now. From the opening 60 seconds you could see masses of people crammed together at Heathrow and not a mask in site. The end credits say 2019. BA in 2021 is not remotely the BA of 2019, as in this documentary. All a documentary like this is useful for now days, is to remind us of the travel freedom we used to have.
I worked for BA cargo, semi organized chaos, mostly rubbish. Drivers could grow beards and go grey waiting for cargo pickup. Shame. Also not surprising that none of the cargo ops are ever on camera.
Please tell me that female First Officer chose to wear a skirt!! There's no way that as a women I'd wear a skirt to fly a plane! If any emergency happens the last thing I want to do is worry about flashing anyone or cutting my legs because I'm in a skirt!!! If BA makes women pilots wear them then no wonder they're failing.
There is no way a BOAC 747 operated to JFK in this livery in 1964. Pan Am, the launch customer, did not even have a 747-100 until late 1968. I love this documentary but the factual inaccuracies make me weary.
It is a 787, there is no such thing as a “ Dreamliner” > that is a marketing gimmick > the plane is marginally better than a 50-year old 737. The Airbus 350 is a way better plane in all aspects: more advanced glass cockpit and autopilot, and better passenger comfort.
"We took food away but it's good because it's about your choice" lmao
“Sure then I want a whole pizza and a caviar please”
“Oh you can’t provide the that for us ? But you just said it’s about my choice and I chose to have that food. Unbelievable”
CEO is an idiot. And of course it was about cost. They must think the general public are idiots.
They honestly think we believe such crap
The BOAC livery was gorgeous; pure class!
I saw the BOAC 747 back in 2019 in Heathrow, such a beautiful plane!!
Saw the first 3 with my wife at Heathrow when they had just been delivered but before in service - in 1970 I think. I worked for them for 40 years.
It's now coke cans sadly.
I love British airways
love the BOAC livery ,now thats class

It says in description of the video filmed before covid 19
No shit Sherlock 🤦🏻♂️

Thanks for posting these. I am enjoying 👍
I ❤️ British Airways.
My very first flight was with BEA in 1970. From Stuttgart to Berlin on a BAC Super 1-11.
When will Airlines realise that people in economy like to have a meal provided, the cost of a ticket did not drop when the food options where removed.
True
Well technically the price has dropped. The cost to fly is lower and lower every year.
The science behind the taste of food when flying is cool and all but I gotta be honest,

Good Idea to go to Do&Co only plane food im able to eat. Well Business class at least. 😅

Then 2020 happened and this entire video was for nothing lol
I flew that plane BOAC …..

BA treats Economy passengers on long haul like lower class citizens. The airline is the epitome of British class snobbery. BA = Bloody Awful.
Not sure where you are from, but class snobbery or wealth snobbery is not unique to the UK. Nor is the inverted snobbery of those who envy success.
@@davideck Try living in Australia, that'll get your mind right mate.
Ever fly Economy on a US airline?
Well I'm sure the first route flown by a BOAC 747 was not to JFK in 1964
In this livery it was
@@craigchambers9361 so they mean the livery? Not the 747.
1964 was an obvious mistake. BOAC changed to BA in '74 and the first 747 commenced service (with Pan Am) in 1970.

@@johnsutcliffe3209 That's right the livery was used between 1964-1974. I understand the wording is confusing 👍
22:00 'And in 2019 will see 13 brand new destinations...' - C19 SAYES NO!
not sure exactly when this was filmed but regardless, those tired old premium seats on a 'revolutionary' 787 epitomizes BA's sad decline
Like all big companies it’s top heavy with non critical office staff, not enough people on ground as such, too many “gurus” stealing a wage
seems like Boeing should concentrate on the doors flying off or crashing into the ground instead of moisture in the cabin
