On this special episode of The Skid Factory we take Al's beloved Cox mower and MAKE IT SUPER with the help of SuperCheap Auto
Since Millsi stole the cutting deck from Al's Cox it wasn't much use so it's now 300mm Wider, 300mm Longer, 200mm Lower and the engine is 3x the size of the original Briggs & Stratton.

Between MCM and you guys Supercheap has gone all out. Great stuff - now we need a massive sale so the punters can get some cheap stuff too. Hope to see a shed skid when the mower clutch is sorted.
I'm from the USA we need super cheap auto. We have harbor freight but super cheap auto looks like a cross of auto zone and harbor freight together. That's awesome 😎
I really do hope that we'll see more of the SuperCox in the future as the clutch gets sorted and a full drive is done. The damn thing is awesome!

Get a TAV40 CVT - gives a low ratio for pulling away, then high ratio once demand torque falls off and revs build. (The TAV30 on my kart has effective ratio of 0.9-2.7:1). Way better than a straight centrifugal clutch with a fixed ratio.
You reckon that would handle a 35hp, 56lb/ft engine.
@@theskidfactory GoPowerSports have a TAV to 30hp, but I haven't found one bigger than that, yet.

External oil cooler for an extra 1 to 1:5 L lube in the engine, more thrash protection on the racetrack 😁
The parts store commercials you guys get are so much better than what we get stateside.

Suggestions:
Grip tape the footwells so you can actually hold on.
A little light bar on the front if the battery can handle it!
Yep! Grip tape is coming and possibly some lights but to be honest we don’t really plan on driving it at night 😂
No-one plans on driving at night, but sometimes the LemonSquash can make you deviate from the plans that were made when inebriation levels were lower.

Im converting a 2010 ford transit connect front wheel drive auto 2.0l transversal gasser to a true 4x4, jeep axles and ax15 manual trans and volks tdi 1.9 alh diesel, mounted longitudinally.
You gonna put a 2260 with firads on that

Hey Skid Factory, I'd make my mum's old (blown engine) Outback super. To help my parents out for what we can't afford, I'm rebuilding the engine after work as an apprentice mechanic, as time and budget allows, and anything to help make it a little bit 'Super' for my Super-Mum would just kick-arse, after hitting hard times lately.

Perfect timing fellas. 2 weeks ago I scored a 2003 cayenne turbo for $1200 cause it had been sat in my neighbours yard for 4 years because it was apparently dumping oil because of the oil cooler system. 1.5 hours under the hood revealed a loose bolt in the block (cooler is fine). But now it's throwing 'PSM' warnings at me. Let me make it super!!

Cayennes are pretty sturdy man, there is a good group on FB and also tonnes of YT videos to help with repair. PSM is Porsche Stability Management so it probably has an issue with wheel speed sensors or G sensors.
Agree the stickers make it pop. Can't wait for the test drive video.

I bought a 2003 Mini Cooper S about 18 months ago with a view to upgrading the supercharger pulley and intercooler and taking it to track days.
Thousands of pounds down the line and many garage visits later it's just about running, after some minor trim piece cracked and allowed litres or water into the footwell frying control modules and electronics. More Al's specialty than anything I could tackle. The car really wasn't worth the money to keep it going but I love it.
Anyway, time for Benny to get a mower too!
I recently purchased a toolpro 12v ratchet and 3/8 driver and I cant believe how good it is for the money. I was saving for a different brand, but honestly, the toolpro ratchet has become my go to tool while working on my 4wd (i'm trying to make super). you guys using it was the reason i decided to get one instead of a more expensive american one, so thanks team.
What a machine. Can't wait to see the cutch sorted so you can take it for a proper rip.

I've slowly been making my NP300 Navara SUPER. I was off work for 9 months due to a work injury and had plenty of time to add on four wheel driving mods and repair, finish and replace things. Absolutely love working on it😍

Right before you guys did the decal discussion, I was just thinking that this episode was my more laid back and fun compared to the stressful car builds you guys do on a regular basis. It comes across in the videos when you're enjoying the process. Glad to see you guys having fun and goofing off. Not that I don't like the car builds, but this was much more enjoyable seeing you guys having fun for the heck of it.. I would like more of these "fun" builds sprinkled among the regular epic builds. Just my .02. Cheers!

I'm currently making my 125cc Chinese delivery scooter I bought to get to work super-er than it was when I bought it, tired with 20k on the clock.
I'm really saving to get my dream 4wd on the road, a '92 Japanese import gunmetal grey Hilux Surf with a turbo 2LTE Diesel, I bought it with a cracked head and have swapped it to a 3L head, a commonly used fix as the later model 2LTE heads that don't crack are hard to find.
I had a mate who's a qualified mechanic help me torque the head down but we managed to fry some wiring getting it started, and now I think it might need a new CPU..
I found a 2LTE guru on F###book so I'm saving to send it to him to help diagnose the confusing early electronic timing on the engine 👍
Al is definitely the kind of cat that listens to Meshuggah on a rainy day to cheer him up. On that note, I would get a bunch of audio equipment from SuperCheap (if I had them in the states)
Sweet little hot rod mower, although going and building a full dual exhaust with glasspacks under the deck and out the back would be sweet.

Tractor builds are a good break between vehicle builds. I've done a couple garden tractor buildups when I was getting bored with a truck build.
back in the 70's when we raced mowers they also had to be able to mow grass. mine would run 56 mph and mow grass and cut it right at 17 mph with specialty sharpened blades but it would only cut with out missing for about 400 feet then the blades would start to roll. but we only had to make one path down a football field. from then on we just raced them but we still had to have a working deck on them, until we started the pulling contest then we could remove the deck.

got my toolpro OBD scanner on ebay second hand but brand new in box. Paid like 30 buks for it. Well worth the money, even for the like 150 i think they are new? awesome tool. I end up building up a full toolpro kit here at home with chest and draw trolley because i see you guys using them and they have held up to your stuff so they will for me. Love their stuff for the price.

I bought my daughter a little Euro hatchback ready for when she passes her driving test. I am gradually making it super - mainly because I am reliving my youth by driving it around and pretending I am still a teenager.

Hey Alan/Woody. If you need turn a part with a "backturning" tool did you know you can mount it upside down and then run the chuck spindle in reverse to turn towards the chuck! Also, HSS tools work great for turning brass 👍

Having the code scanner would make my life super haha I’ve worked for BMW , VW and currently Audi as a mechanic so had lots of experience in scanning codes and I drive a VW Amarok so it would be handy in my car tool kit. Thanks guys loved the episode
This mower is absolutely awesome!
Nice looking build. My only uneducated concern is that that intake looks like it isn't protected from dirt which could be a problem when overtaking other racers. Also the chain steering might benefit from nylon chain guides to reduce any risk of coming off the sprocket.
Ha ha ha, at 07:58 I DO actually have a Volkswagen that did have a permanently ON engine light and I bought that exact ToolPro OBD2 scanner from SuperCheap. The code popped up, I fixed it (stuck VNT), all sorted now. Good little scanner.

Great build guys ! Really enjoyable to watch. Lawn mower racing in America is crazy popular too. Americans also seam to have a infinity for putting V8'S in there old farm tractors . Once you get the clutch sorted out you guys should totally turbo it with the kit mighty car mods put on there little k truck. Flame spitting mower would be awesome. Thanks for all the great content.
