airstrafing gives u speed gain however when you are at max speed you are just strafing for show. if you jump from 0u/s and air strafe u will need like 2+ full jump to reach speed cap, also with bad sync you will lose speed, so if u try without good sync you'll miss the LJs. If you turn too fast you will lose speed too, so stuff like good pre on 360 bhop is only possible with a smooth controlled turn, you don't go further vs. LJ but many times in this game you just use different ways to make it harder for yourself, the skill is not in distance but technique. Also when you just run→jump you are below the speed cap so you do need to gain some in the air every jump, but its easy to hit the cap and overall air-gain is a beginner skill in this game, but there are other skills for the player to train (strafe directional change, new +duck skill, +rope LJ etc). The game doesn't beat 1.6 for climb (how can it?) BUT it's fantastic for bhop. in 1.6 you get many random jof1/2 rng and skill at high level is often timing lottery even with perfect spacing and sbj inputs your scroll is the limiting factor, but here it's mostly jof1's with occasional jof 2 (bhop in duck timing is random tho), it's a skill in itself to correct your speed after not getting the right jof you wanted in 1.6 but so overall this game is less about air-gain and more about bhop control and precision combo skills. There are no kz maps here of course but there are many spots on the maps where u will fall out the map to your death if you don't make the LJ, and also spots where u will lose HP, so there are many options for creativity there and of course everything is possible in ranked games (default settings) unlike cs2, and while 1.6 still has niche playerbase you can't just log on and play 5v5, so if you like to shoot as well then overall it's a great movement game to be playing right now for sure
