These were versatile Locomotives, Misuse always leads to destruction. As I remember during 1979 when Shalimar Express was operated by twin New GMCU-15(49xx) Series any how it was over burden for HAU 20 to get same hard work alone. There were so many Locomotives which are not now in use that I have seen working during my Childhood but still remember, like GEU 61 & 64 SHUNTERS, ALU 95, ALU 12, ALU 18 (Now Converted to GRU 20 (50xx) ALU 20 Now (51xx) ALU 24 &26 Now (52XX) HAU 20 Could have been Re-Engined and Re Used for another period of at least 25 Years like ALP 14, ALU 14, ALPW 16 &18 & CLP 15(EMD). Thanks a Lot for Useful and informative Video about these Machines.

One thing I want ask for my information that abbreviations HAU and HPU stands for what? I know “H” and “U” stand for Hitachi and Universal but I don’t know about letters “A” and “P” stand for in these abbreviations. I shall be highly grateful to you for this information please.
