Only found your channel very recently, but want to say I love how brisk yet detailed your reviews are. The camera work and editing is also on point, and your criticisms always feel reasonable and consumer oriented rather than whiny. So nice to watch 18+ set reviews that don’t take half an hour and actually focus on the product rather than the reviewer reiterating the same minor complaints over and over.
I have visited the real Himeji Castle before in Japan and it is such a beautiful place. The set accurately captures this beauty in its smaller scale perfectly. I’ll be picking this one up sometime soon.
I think that part looks generally a bit too bland. They could have created a new kind of brick that gives the impressions of the actuall small bricks in the original building
I used to live in himeji, it's a beautiful city. The castle is one of the places I'd say everyone should visit at least once in their life. It's absolutely incredible during Sakura season.
I was surprised by the noticeable color differences between the various sloped pieces, as well as the lack of replacement foliage for all the cherry trees. But the most surprising thing of all was that Tiago admitted that the price-per-piece ratio was not always a good metric for determining LEGO set value! I personally use price-per-gram, since I care more about the volume of plastic I get, than the number of pieces.
Hemeiji Castle was a big part of my childhood. I am Japanese American and visited Japan to see relatives several times. During those trips we frequently visited Hemieji and its castle.
We were visiting Japan and on our last day we were checking out some shops while buying trinkets for friends and we saw this set displayed. I instantly ordered it lol. The castle is amazing in real life and the set looks great too! Can't wait to get it!
What Lego is missing is a VR game that allows you to walk around your Lego sets from the proper scale and perspective. I can’t tell you how much I wanted to shrink down and walk around my sets when I was younger.
I love your channel and how you show every set with full detail. Very high quality stuff :) O facto de seres português ainda me impressionou mais, visto que normalmente não há este tipo de conteúdo ou qualidade. Muitos parabéns e continua com o bom trabalho!
You should review The Great Wave set! It was a great build and the podcast that was created for it was very insightful into the artwork and the process of translating something into Lego.
Yes please, do review the Great Wave, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Himeji is a great looking set, also definite buy for me sooner than later. Thanks for nice review!
I really love this set, definitely gonna get it. But the difference in the dark tan slope pieces was the first thing I noticed. Gotta say it, the fragile pieces, and the difference in colour over the last years keeps me thinking Lego isn't wat it used to be. I really love the old castle and pirate sets, the older pieces just feel different. All my cracked pieces are recent sets😢
Lego has gotten way more fragile, or at least it feels that way. Plates have become super bendy and bricks are almost weightless now, they dent much faster when compared to old Lego.
Outstanding building, my next purchase for sure! Thank you for the review, Xará, very precise! It is sad to see these huge colors differences on same elements once Lego was always focused in quality. Ole Kirk would never let this happen lol.
HI ..Im new to having my own Lego . My kids had large collections back in the 80s . Im quite facinated by the fact that people talk about price per piece or investment value . Am I looking at Lego the wrong way , by appreciating the engineering , design aspects and just enjoying the build process and finished display piece ???
Visiting Himeji during 2023 Cherry Blossom season, not all the trees are cherries. I actually think it is way too over priced for how it shows. But I do enjoy seeing some miniscale trees in the exact same locations as where I remember them from my tour.
Having just built the Great Wave set myself: Yes, review it! For an art set, I was pleasantly surprised! As for this Himeji castle, having visited it myself twice, I will certainly buy this set. And even more so after this review, which showed some aspects I hadn't seen before. I was a bit surprised to see how close in size it is to that half pyramid, I honestly thought Himeji would be quite a bit smaller than that, it looks so tiny. But looks can be deceiving.... As I have seen many more castles in Japan, I can only hope we get more of those. Please Lego, also do Matsumoto-jo!
I saw the set at my local Lego store yesterday and I put it back on the shelf, I will go back today and pick it up, you've convinced me. I wouldn't mind a review on the Great Wave, I'm a bit hesitant on the art based sets because they seem like a bunch of studs. I've picked up Starry Night but have not put it together yet.
the QC issue with the slopes kinda work for this build since it's a rockface, but it's kinda insane that there's that big a difference in colour considering how stringent lego usually is hahaha
I got this set as well as the tranquil garden, Japanese postcard and bonsai tree. I thought they all went really well together since they had overlapping themes in the postcard in particular I thought was cool because it short of has a miniaturized version of the tranquil garden and it also has a miniaturized version of the castle
Just picked this up for £104 at John Lewis for any uk folk can’t argue with that price at all and I don’t seem to have any issues so far with piece discolouration like this set. Having visited Himeji it became my favourite place in Japan and this is a superb micro scale model of it
The reason for the disagreement with the "PPP" (price per piece) metric is that the _overall volume of stuff_ you get in the set (i.e. how big the elements are) has to be factored in somehow. A set with many tiny 1x1 plates would hardly be considered as valuable as a set with much larger elements (albeit lower piece count).
I actually love how much detail they pack into this micro scale. and yes, should've had cherry blossom for all the trees. I personally don't have any connection to the castle, I do like the set tho, but because of that I rather save my money for something else, maybe if I had been there?
Wife and I went to Japan for our honeymoon 14 years ago, and saw Himeji in full cherry blossom glory. Supplying just two trees in pink seems almost an insult! I'll still get this set though, seems very nice with good attention to detail. May have to source some extra parts for a full cherry blossom setup, and an autumn version would be nice too.
Hmmmmm I've been seeing quite a bit of inconsistency in Lego colors lately, but typically it's been when the same color is used in two drastically different sized pieces that just happen to be next to eachother. I could justify that somewhat since the properties of the molds might affect how the color is expressed in the finished product. But it's really strange to see such drastic color differences among the same piece, where the mold conditions ought to be equivalent. It seems a lot more likely now that it's just a mixing consistency issue, which is frustrating because that seems much easier for Lego to fix
Hmm... I was considering getting the Himeji Castle today. Had it in my hands but balked at getting it. Mostly because I remember building the Statue of Liberty architectural set and it was really repetitive and had a lot of tiny plates and round studs. Your review has got me thinking again. It does look really nice and I am a fan of all things Japanese.
The most beautiful castles in Japan, Himeji is well presented here specially with the floor by floor details. Just missing the used-to-be haunted well at the backyard?
Lego needs to get their piece color quality in order. I’ve never seen dark tan have different color variation and just in general with any color variation. We’re paying for a quality product and that should reflect in there being no difference in the same color.
I am struggling to get steps 106-117 to line up correctly as shown in the instructions. Did you have any issues with that section? I would love to see a close up of that part, or even a quick build vid on it
Looks fantastic for the size, fits my furniture and budget. Still thinks it would deserve a version the size of the colosseup set for people with $$$ and room a plenty ^^
you could put those microfigures in the set if you want and i like the use of all the elements thanks for the review by the way yes review the great wave set

These adult oriented display models are a new style that looks epic! Great review as always Tiago.
Been to the Himeji castle in person and it is stunning. They did a great job reflecting it in this set.
I have visited the real Himeji Castle before in Japan and it is such a beautiful place. The set accurately captures this beauty in its smaller scale perfectly. I’ll be picking this one up sometime soon.
Given the premium price Lego has, the color differences are too much to be ignored
Who says it wasn't done on purpose?
Man, lego fanboys defend every shit

Didn't even knew about the castle! 🫠

Himeji Castle is already available for purchase from LEGO ► bit.ly/47iaz8t
The price per piece ratio is the same as the tranquil garden set (about 0.75 € per piece)
great wave review please!!!! i had a blast building that one, along with the guided-tour audiobook while building it!!!
The review is here! Yes! Please review the Great Wave set!
Let's GO
My reaction: “Oh my god this looks beautiful, I have to build it”
My Wallet’s reaction: “Stop that thought right now”
Hemeiji Castle was a big part of my childhood. I am Japanese American and visited Japan to see relatives several times. During those trips we frequently visited Hemieji and its castle.
As a Japan everything fan, this was my first day 1 buy ever and boy did it deliver. As you noted in your review, really fairly priced as well 😊
We were visiting Japan and on our last day we were checking out some shops while buying trinkets for friends and we saw this set displayed. I instantly ordered it lol. The castle is amazing in real life and the set looks great too! Can't wait to get it!
0:55 Anyone else hear Tiago say "The Great Half Pyramid of Jezus" or am I just tripping?
This is a better looking architecture set than just the skyline ones
I agree! Really enjoying these new style Architecture sets (Taj Mahal and Pyramid of Giza) when compared to previous concepts of the theme!
Yeah
What Lego is missing is a VR game that allows you to walk around your Lego sets from the proper scale and perspective. I can’t tell you how much I wanted to shrink down and walk around my sets when I was younger.
I was thinking earlier how much Lego are missing a trick by not releasing something in VR, weather it’s a PS5 game or a dedicated app
I love your channel and how you show every set with full detail. Very high quality stuff :)
O facto de seres português ainda me impressionou mais, visto que normalmente não há este tipo de conteúdo ou qualidade. Muitos parabéns e continua com o bom trabalho!

I have watched all your set reviews and love them all
Nice video, already ordered this lego set, can't wait to build it.
Yes, please review the great wave lego set.
What a great set! Im liking this scale more and more everytime I see a new model. Either from lego, or mocs.
Oh this is sweet!!! Love the hidden details they always put in these
Right?! It's a shame that only the people building the sets will actually know about them. Unless you watch my reviews that is... 😎
Yes, please! A video on the Lego Great Wave by you would be great, love that set :)

Having been to Himeji Castle I think the different colored tiles at the base were done on purpose to represent the weathered look of the base.
About time they made this, one of the few surviving castles from Feudal Japan! Would also look spectacular on an N scale train layout!
the color problems on the slopes are ridiculous, plan and simply
I visited Himeji in September and my parents got me this set for Christmas :) can't wait ti build it
I've never met anyone with such a huge list of different favorite categories.
Lego really needs to work on their quality control. Prices are going up, quality is going down.
This. Such a bad combo of things
Do you know that you're the best lego reviewer ? 🎉 even if I don't buy a set, I love to watch yours review 😁

The Great Wave set was a fun build and a Great Wall art display! Can’t wait to build the Himeji Castle
Great review 👍
Also I would love to see the great wave set review
I just visited the real thing today. Amazing castle. Back in the Netherlands I definitely buy this set with the zen garden
Himeji Castle looks fantastic! I'm definitely tempted to get this set, but as a technic fan I'm currently busy building the 42160 Audi e-Tron :)
One day I hope to see the Pyramids of Jesus in person.
Reall wish they would redo falling water in a larger scale. If it was this size, they could make it so much more detailed. It would be incredible.
I second this sentiment. Were they to remake Fallingwater at this point, it would most likely be a stunning must-buy for any architecture fan
I just got it in the mail. Going to put it together in a few weeks.

Very disappointed in the quality control of the dark tan slopes, that is a significant difference and mars what is otherwise a very nice set.
I am personly like the japanese garden more, because its more vibrent and detaild.
Also kinda minifigure scale. I can see arguments going both ways for both sets.
Of course you should review The Great Wave! You know what you also should do? Bring back Tiago Tuesdays.
