  • Thundercoaster was the third and final Vekoma wooden coaster. Located at TusenFryd, this was the first wood coaster in Norway and it's still the only one. This ride has a creative layout with some big drops down a hill! But is it a good ride? Find out in this review!

I rode Thundercoaster last time back in 2019, it was still really rough then. I remember the old trains being smoother. But last time i took it in 2019, there was also light rain and they closed right after we were done with our ride. Reasoning was that the trains reached to high speed and the ride would open when the track dried up again. So the wet track probably made the ride quite a bit more rough. Probably the most rough and intense ride i have ever had, with the extra speed the airtime was great tho. Thundercoaster + Wet track is a no go for me. I wouldn't mind it getting an RMC makeover, same layout, smoother, a bit more speed (100 km/h) and an inversion (Corckscrew) and i think Thundercoaster will probably be the best coaster in scandinavia.

Timberliners are really some track destroyers imo. For example, when I rode T2Z at Parc Astérix last year (~4 months after the revamp and the replacement of the train), it was decently smooth and enjoyable, and when I tried it again last month, it was VERY rough and bumpy. Also, it was pretty slow at the end and the airtime wasn’t really there, but I rode it in the morning so that probably didn’t help.

i can see that, i rode mine blower earlier this year before the rmc work, and it was the second only to montezum at hopi hari (an rcca monstrosity from the 90s) as the jackhammeriest woodie ive ever ridden... im sure the timberliners played a part in making a relatively new coaster so awful

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  ปีที่แล้ว +1

When Timberliners were unveiled, they were advertised to cause less wear on the track. Maybe that part is true and they just shuffle more than other trains? I agree most rides with them, particularly ones that got them down the road, shimmy on the turns.

What were the most shuffling coasters you've ever ridden? The coasters that shuffled you the most? The most noticeable shuffling you've ever got?
    Canobie Coaster would say:
Examples: Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid (2019 ride). Wildcat at Lake Compounce (2017 trackwork and trains). If I ask you, which other coaster did you find to be among the coasters with the most noticeable shuffling you've ever got?
    Canobie Coaster would answer...
    A) Hell Cat at Clementon Park (entire ride)
    B) Hell Cat at Clementon Park (2017 front row ride)
    C) Hell Cat at Clementon Park (2017 back row ride)
    D) Hell Cat at Clementon Park (2022 ride)

    There is a quote, said:
The turn continues twisting upwards, as you climb back up the hill. This offers some laterals, but unfortunately it will be shuffling violently the whole way up. This part flat out hurt.
I think some wooden coasters built in the world, both operating and not, were considered hurt by many because of the jackhammering, shimmying and shuffling. Why did they say: My head!!! Jackhammering!! Shimmying!! Shuffling!! What is that? Those are three types of coaster roughness. What are the differences between the jackhammering, the shimmying, and the shuffling. What do you think?

    • @CanobieCoaster

I think some found a hill wooden coaster to be almost painful, Canobie Coaster would say:
    A) It's glass smooth
    B) It has some bumpy parts, but mostly tolerable
    C) It's quite rough, but it has some good spots of airtime
    D) It's a 1, it's brutally rough

    • @CanobieCoaster

    • @MattMcIrvin

I think Canobie Coaster's tolerance for rough wooden coasters is higher than mine... but then again, between the effects of the elements, periodic retracking and differences in personal taste, it can be hard to tell how a wooden coaster's reputation will jibe with my experience. I've seen people describe multiple wooden coasters as unbearably rough that I thought weren't that bad (PortAventura's Stampida, SFNE's Thunderbolt). And then there are others where my experience was far rougher than the ride's reputation (Boulder Dash circa 2022).

If im ever mega rich i am going to open the worlds greatest park and it will be dedicated to preserving historical coasters and rides and pushing the limits making the greatest coasters and rides possible. Half the park would be the "legacy" section. It would go from the 30s to the 90s each era would have authentic coasters and rides that are completely restored. Ide track down abandond rides that are sitting sbno and also buy rare coasters from other parks. The enterance of the park would have a massive clock towers and arround the tower would be a vertical pieces of track from the most influencial manufacturers staked into the ground like pillars. Each track piece would have a plack with the name of the manufacturer, its history, most famous coasters, then the track it self would have every single coaster ever made by the manufacturer past and future engraved decending down the spine of the track. The park would have a massive lagoon much like the one at epcot and would be stocked with the most beautiful koi i could find. Small channels would be dug out of the lagoon throught the park so boats could travel through and take guests to other spots in the park. The modern section of the park would be full of the most advance and spectacular rollercoasters ever created. I wouldnt design the park for the gp, the parks intention would be to create new coaster enthusists and not just the ones that go for credits but the ones who actually care about the marvels of human engineering these coasters are and aooreciate them nit only as fun rides but as a piece of our culture and a work of art. Ide make it fun to work at the park. Each coaster operation team would get a team jacket with the name of the coaster they operate on it. Challanges would be given to show who is the best team in the park, by dispatch times, accidents, ect. In the employee area would be a massive leader biard and the morning meeting with all the teams would be super energetic. Fun game like challanges after hours woild happen as well like scavenger hunts n such. The leader of each month woild get a medalian. Who ever has the most would win some insane prize like somthing really fantastic. The park would have overnight hours twice a month where you can spend the entire night riding everything. Also inside the park would be a masive pavilian full of vr set ups much like the ones disney quest use to have but with vr headsets. I would pay to have as many defunct coasters recreated in vr so you could expeirence any coaster you missed out on complete with scenery. I would have any of the historic coasters registered as historic landmarks and would create a npo to raise money to keep all the older rides in perfect shape. I would have a ware house stocked with parts and also have companies create reproduction parts for rides that are no longer supported by their creator. Ide have tons of fun teasing the crazy park that would just show up out of nowhere and nobody would know the insanity that was about to show up. Anyway if i ever get to muild my stupid park you better show up for media day 🤣

@@CanobieCoaster what else would be cool would be a garden of defunct rides. Have coasters that are too far gone to restore moved to the park. Then plant really cool crawling plants with flowers n such on them. Have a plack with the information on the ride a d pictures of what it looked like while it was open. Have the williams grove cyclone moved and rebuilt. Have the lumber treated for rot so it lasts alot longer. You can have a entire garden of defunct coasters and rides. Or at least move sections of rides like cyclones lift hill and rebuild it in a flower bed in the park. Just think it would be crazy not even putting out a press release that you are building the park. Just start erecting massive coasters and see how long it takes the coaster community to notice that a 800 ft coaster is getting built in in some random town 🤣
