Oh thank goodness for a human voice who brings syntax,, nuance and depth to such a wonderful story, not to mention a great command of accents to bring the characters to life. Thank you for a most enjoyable book.
I returned and gave this book another try. I'm delighted I did. I absolutely loved it. I changed the reading speed as suggested to 1.25 x and it sounds great. The storyline is so satisfying. Thank you very much.
This narrator's delivery of the story is so much better than book 2 narrator. Book 2's voice was much sweeter, but her choppy sentence delivery was very grating to listen to.

Not a fan of the narrator but "soldiered through" because I LOVE Martha Keyes books!! 😊 I will say Lucy improved as the book progressed...less hautier, more fluidity... She will do....
I tried! The comment suggesting speeding up the audio did help somewhat, but the strange, unnatural inflections of the narrator continued to jar my attention away from the storyline. I listened to one other of this author's books with a different narrator and enjoyed it greatly. I will keep looking.
@@jackiereeves9280 I noticed the same narrator has been hired to read a number of other books, so clearly there are enough people who feel the way you do out there. To each her own!
I am making a great effort to listen to the narrator's storytelling style. I know I am not enough people to influence the changing or the training of the narrator. Nevertheless, I believe that positive criticism may/can assist all kinds of professional's effort to improve and enhance their trade. The narrator, to her credit, possesses an excellent pronunciation and is highly appreciated for it. I just wish she had more of an understanding of how characters, who have been educated and trained to be gentile, should sound. Juliana is portrayed as a very arrogante and presumptuous woman. Even when her words can portray gentility, their sounds are arrogant and belittling, patronizing really. While Sam, sounding as totally oblivious to her patronizing, is becoming enamored with her. All characters sound as arrogant and patronizing as the Gilmores, who intend to transform the village into an industrial city. Nonetheless, I am grateful for your choice of selling your books on TH-cam. Although some think you give them for free, they fail to understand that TH-cam offer, to all who endeavor and are successful in their endeavors, an impressive income. I sincerely hope that you’ll find a narrator with an inclinly for acting. Or may suggest to your current narrator, the possibility of such improvement. Respectfully and grateful Vedson21

Stop ads please
If you'd like an ad-free listen, you will soon be able to listen to this book on all major audio platforms!
The Author is placing this on TH-cam for free. She needs an income too, so viewing a few ads is the least we could do.
Increase t h e speed to 1.25?
