2023 KTM 690 SMC R - Test Ride Review

- I test ride the 2023 KTM 690 SMC R supermoto street motorcycle and give my initial thoughts and impressions on how the bike rides. POV video of this motorcycle being ridden and reviewed.
This is a full Supermoto offering from the factory. There is nothing dirt bike about this bike, except for how it looks. I test out the power, handling, cornering, and smoothness that this motorcycle offers. This bike has different power modes, traction control, and ABS. The motorcycle also features a Quickshifter that can shift up and down.

I was there that day and rode the very same 690 SMC R on the first ride out and I truly loved it! It was the only Supermoto model they had there in Chandler that day. I didn't have a problem burning my leg or ankle on the machine because my ankles were covered with hi-top shoes that I had on. I agree about the power on it. It's plenty enough for this bike and what you would be using it for. Or at least what I would use it for. I'm personally going for the Husqvarna 701 version because I like the look of it better and can get better graphics for it later. Plus, my wife likes the Husky better also. I used to have a 2020 Yamaha MT-10 and that had 177 horses in it after I had the ECU flashed with other mods to it. But it wasn't what I really wanted in a street bike. These Supermotos from KTM, Husqvarna and also from Gas Gas, is the ticket for me. This is coming from someone who used to race motocross from back in the day. I have a 22' Honda CRF450R Works Edition motocross bike and I paid 14.5K out the door for it. So the price for this is in the same ballpark for something with a bigger engine and has more horsepower. I'm ok with it.
Supermotos can be used for off-road, we’re the kinda derived from, also can just throw different tires with maybe bigger rims and boom dirt bike

What mode did you have it on ? That makes a big difference on the ride experience. It’s very capable off road, with a simple tire swap. U can also add simple mods for longer road trips.
Thanks for the review. I am in the market for one but I am still undecided. Coming from a 2005 Hayabusa. Is between the 690 or the new busa for me.😂

Is burning your leg on exhaust a common fault with this model
I haven’t burned my leg yet , you can buy a carbon fiber guard if it’s a concern
the exhaust just gets hot, if you get an aftermarket one thatll fix itself or u just dont touch it right after driving, same as you wouldnt touch the engine

i bought the same bike, and is worst bike ever.
Engine is completely closed probably due to euro 5 regulation. no engine brake. really bad answer of the gas trottle. no really idea about how can KTM could release a bike like that....
Did you do some modification to the bike in order to have a better engine ?
