My doc wants to put me on BP medication because my BP is high when I see him. I tell him it's only high when I see him and refuse. When my BP is taken at home, it's normal. I tell this to docs a lot: Doc, you're an expert on medicine but, me, I'm an expert on me.

Your BP is much higher in dr office. Take rest BP over 48 hours before you take statins. Use grapefruit juice instead. Most meds are not safe for us over 65...Eat healthy and take walks or swim. Dont accept 10 different meds. Let someone like this real doctor give a second opinion. Lots of meds are not good for elderly. Do herbal regime. Better to die healthy at 77 than get dementia bcuz of over medication, sugar and white bread which can poison kids and turn their health into several illnesses. Ret nurse Norway.

1000% accurate, I’m living proof. When I was 60 years old, my blood pressure went through the roof, 198/95. I had no idea how bad my diet was, addicted to sugar and carbs. Nurse practitioner prescribed blood pressure medication, which I clearly needed, but no conversation whatsoever about my diet or even Checked my insulin levels. 14 months later, I discovered keto from watching TH-cam videos by some wonderful doctors. Within one month I was completely off the blood pressure medication and it’s been almost 10 months. Completely reversed just like Dr. Dhand said in less than a month and I’ve lost 56 pounds! It feels like a miracle but it was 100% diet.

@@jasminefernandes575 As we're all different, how can anyone have the right blood pressure. Mine is always "high" compared to the current guidelines, but that could well simply be normal for my body.
In 1970, they'd have told you it was 167/xx (ie your age plus 100).
But of course that didn't sell you pills.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that 'high blood pressure' (within reason), along with 'high cholesterol' is nothing but a money making scam.

I don’t know if anyone back then was aware of any connection between blood pressure meds, inflammation, insulin resistance, diet, etc. and dementia. All I remember is that my mom did exactly what the doctor told her to do. Hence, she used little to no salt. It’s not at all surprising that they didn’t know about any of these connections back then. Last year when i went to mom’s doctor to check all my vitals and have some blood tests done. He said my bp was high. It use to be 120/80 for as long as I remember. In my upper 50s now.
When doing some research and more bloodwork I discovered I was deficient in vitamin D, potassium, sodium, chloride, and magnesium. So taking supplements and adding more animal foods and salt to my diet my bp has come down naturally.
This dr from the start wanted to prescribe bp meds. I refused and decided to do my own research on why it was high. Once again asking the right questions helped me resolve the problem naturally.

Far worse, beware putting elderly in assisted care living facilities!! My mother stayed short period in a rather nice facility, nursing staff w resident physician, BUT I made terrible mistake by giving them a list of all her prescription medications showing med bottles, they wrote down ALL medications then proceeded to give her ALL 12 OF THEM daily even after I sternly protested, required two emergency room ambulance rides near death from over medication, and was signed off by staff Doctor!! Come to find out most care facilities resell generic brands at huge profit billing Medicare/insurance. They would not stop even after protesting and emergencies telling me, "we always give all prescribed pills", another doctor told me this is a great scandal in his opinion and epidemic in assisted care facilities nation-wide!! ~ god help us all ~

@@richardfadle5921 I'm female, age 39, and I've struggled to lose weight for years. I'm 40 pounds overweight, and that puts me in the obese category for my BMI. You can lower blood pressure with exercise alone. I know this, because I've done it. Several months ago, my systolic pressure (top number) was just over 140. But after joining a gym and going there three days a week, it's dropped down to around 120. I haven't lost a single pound. What brought the number down was exercise, and nothing else. Taking walks outside won't do anything to lower your blood pressure. The only thing that works is resistance training, and pushing yourself as hard as you can go on a treadmill. Intensity is more important than time. Thirty minutes on the treadmill two days a week is all you need. But, you gotta make that 30 minutes count. So, if you struggle to lose weight, it doesn't matter, all you need to do is intense exercises a few days a week. It makes a huge difference.

I wore a BP monitor for a week for my GP just before the Covid mass hysteria started in 2020. It averaged out at 140/85. When I went back, they just said "oh, it's high normal, don't worry about it. We only get concerned if it's consistently a lot higher".
I wonder if they'd still say the same now. I'm not on any pills.

Interesting study that I'll keep in mind. I'll share my recent blood pressure experience as an anecdote for those interested. I'm in my 70's and my systolic pressure has been in the 140's. My diet wasn't bad except I have never been mindful of sodium. My doctor urged me to focus on sodium and bring it into the DASH diet recommendation of 1500mg to 2300mg a day. For the first time in my life I tracked sodium and brought it down to 1500mg. In two days my systolic pressure was down to the 120s and has stayed there. I may move my sodium intake up toward 2300mg and see what happens.

The doctor immediately put him on another diabetes medication, for pre-diabetes, even though he's been on Jardiance, and had recently had the dose lowered to half. I questioned this doctor's decision to do this, so my husband called the office, and questioned this. The doctor immediately withdrew the newly prescribed meds, basically without question. This told me so much about this doctor! I advised my husband to find a new doctor, immediately.

Let's not forget that Amlodipine, an antihypertensive (a calcium channel blocker) causes oedema in the feet - swelling. Other antihyptensives cause a cough. If you complain to your doctor, they will just add more medications to treat these adverse effects, and you could end up very sick indeed. We need to recognise that lowering your BP can be a direct cause of falls (from fainting, feeling dizzy).

Once someone is prescribed a medication it is so hard to get it removed from the home med list, especially since doctors have so little time in clinic to address this and the clinic nurse (often LPN's) don't bother to.

They did a partial nephrectomy. Three months later, we moved to Israel for two years.
When I handed my cancer doctor, the protocol that my American doctor wanted me to continue, he says to me “I am not going to follow this protocol. The protocol they want you on causes cancer, and they know it. If you want this protocol from your American doctor to proceed, you must find a new doctor”
That was the beginning of my eyes being open for the dysfunctional medical and money, hungry sick care in America!
Now, if I have an issue, I go to the doctor, get their opinion, then come home and naturally treat the root of the issue I may be having.
I will no longer be hoodwinked or bullied into this medical tyranny here in America!

Numbers keep going down so doctors feel obliged to follow the new protocols and prescribe antihypertensives to old folks so they have the same BP they had in their 20's. When I was still working, I had an elderly patient who was treated aggressively for high blood pressure and as a result she couldn't even sit up in bed without feeling dizzy. Yes, the protocol (ie: greedy pharmacological companies) keeps getting lower and lower while the SHEEP keep thinking that their doctors always have their best interests foremost (joke...but some do, I guess...) and they keep going along unquestioningly with what is advised for them to take or do. It used to be that as long as the glycemic count was under 105, you were fine...well mine was 127 but I got it down to 100 and lo and behold, I was notified that it is now 99 or under and my A1C was 5.7, which meant I was prediabetic (earlier this year)...so I worked on it and got my A1C down to 5.5 only to be rewarded by telling me that I am now 'normal' (their protocol normal BUT that I will ALWAYS be prediabetic since I've been (their) prediabetic earlier this year with 5.7 (even though now I'm at 5.5).
