    I actually own this same bass. Bought from Sweetwater. It was set up really nice for me and plays and sounds fantastic.

      Been with Sweetwater since 2008. Every bass I bought from them was set up perfectly. I wanted the TRBX 304 in mint green, but they were out of stock. Placed the order and my rep says they will get them in April or early May.

    I've learned a hell of a lot from you Dave just by watching and learning. I have 3 bass guitars and still trying to learn. My Yamaha is the one i usually go to because its the one that feels right to me, its not the active one that you show in this vid. Just keep up with the great vids and i will keep learning to the point that i might get to be an actual bass player someday.

    I have a Yamaha TRBX304. Out of the box the action was really high and fret buzz. Great Bass after a setup!

    Hi Dave.... it's very possible that that Bass was "hanging around" for a few years. I got a Tobias Bass ($2000) that was "Hanging around" for a few years. After bass hung around for a few years, the neck started to forward bow, as it settled in. I got it home, and snugged up the truss rods (2) and got it to the "almost straight" position that was desired. The Tobias was a fantastic instrument....
    A friend of mine bought an Epiphone bass that played very well when new. After a few years, the neck relief made it look like this Yamaha. In my experience, necks will settle in over the first few years of life, and will need some truss rod tweakage.

    It's a TRBX 304. I got mine over two years ago, new, with no issues. Then again, I got it at a Sam Ash store. Must have had a decent set-up in house. Needed minor adjustments only. Sounds great for the price! Currently my backup.

    Looks like some common parts in a Harley Benton P450FL I bought recently ... But that was 148EU and was surprisingly well setup by Thomann. The fun started when I swapped for Jim Stinnetts preferred LaBella black nylon tape wound BUT thanks to all Dave's videos I was able to reasonably set up and intonation for my Brexiting nation. Feels great now :-)

    I just received one of these models, the one you're working looks like a TRBX304 the one I just received I believe is the same model but a 2022 model) and I could find nothing wrong with it and they no longer put the plastic with knob names on it. I own a Lakland which will cost about 1,800.00 and this guitar plays just as well but the sound is different and the Lakland of course has hardwire that is superior and I'm sure the electronics are superior but as I said I love this guitar for the price. Maybe they've improved on the product.

    Dude - I first discovered you when didn't understand how I "blew up" my recently acquired Carvin IC4 - reversely inserted both 9V batts (I have to admit I was in an altered state!) - and you accurately described what happens to an opamp chip when you do that without the benefit of reverse current diodes (love the guitar but pissed at that oversight on Carvin's part). Cost me $80 (including installation of a diode!!) but that's reality when you are stupid. Rock and roll

    • @crazyuncleduke8012
      @crazyuncleduke8012 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep...Leo started the active craze.
      I'm the proud original owner of a 1977 Music Man Stingray but rarely play it.
      For some reason I always go back. to playing a passive Jazz bass.
      Might be because of all the dead batteries that end up in a landfill.

    • @onpsxmember
      @onpsxmember 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leo got it right cause he constantly made changes until it was right.
      Most of his guitars didn't work at all at the beginning. (You can read up on it if you stay away from the glorious fender books) He did some great work, but there is always trial and error involved.
